Week 12 is set to include a trio of games on Thursday. The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will play host in Thanksgiving matchups, per usual, while the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks will cap the action with an NFC West showdown.

The 49ers have been rolling since the Week 9 bye, notching convincing wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Seattle, meanwhile, has lost two of three, with a narrow win over the Washington Commanders sandwiched between two defeats.

Yet, Seattle remains only a game behind San Francisco in the divisional standings. This means that Thursday night's winner will, for at least the week, hold first place in the NFC West.

Let's dive into the matchup, the latest odds and some player props to consider for 49ers-Seahawks.

Preview and Predictions

49ers QB Brock Purdy

The good news for the Seahawks is that they'll have home-field advantage in prime time on a short week. The bad news is that the 49ers seemingly got right during the bye and again look like a championship-caliber team on both sides of the ball.

Having Deebo Samuel back has certainly helped offensively, and Brock Purdy has returned to form with him in the lineup. Purdy was nearly flawless in Week 11, finishing with a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Between Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, San Francisco can find a mismatch of just about every play. That's going to be a problem for Seattle's 23rd-ranked defense.

The worse news for the Seahawks is that quarterback Geno Smith and running back Kenneth Walker III are dealing with injuries. Walker appears likely to miss the game with an oblique injury, but Smith could be on the field despite a triceps injury.

"He's gonna play," head coach Pete Carroll said on his radio show (h/t Brent Stecker of Seattle Sports).

If Smith is at less than 100 percent, it could cause issues against San Francisco's new pass-rushing tandem of Chase Young and Nick Bosa.

While Seattle can field a functional offense with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Noah Fant and rookie running back Zack Charbonnet, the 49ers have the far superior skill group, the more consistent defense and the healthier quarterback.

While an energized environment can help keep Seattle in the game early, San Francisco has all the pieces needed to pull away in the second half.

Prediction: San Francisco 30, Seattle 20

Samuel commands a ton of defensive attention, and he helps open up the rest of the passing game for Purdy and the 49ers.

In the three games in which Samuel didn't play or didn't finish this season, Purdy had just three combined touchdown passes. In Purdy's seven games with Samuel, he threw multiple touchdown passes five times.

This week, Purdy is -125 to throw for two or more scores. Given a full complement of receiving targets and Seattle's middling scoring defense—ranked 19th in points allowed and 16th in passing touchdowns allowed—the over feels like the safe pick.

Purdy is back to playing at a high level and has thrown three touchdown passes in each of his last two games. He should find the end zone at least twice on Thursday night.

Christian McCaffrey Anytime TD

While the odds aren't altogether enticing (-225), a McCaffrey anytime touchdown feels like one of the safest player props of Week 12. While the 49ers have arguably the league's best skill group, the offense flows through the 27-year-old running back.

And when San Francisco reaches the red zone, it's typically McCaffrey time.

McCaffrey has scored a league-high 14 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns this season. He's scored at least once in nine of 10 contests this year and 18 of 19 games dating back to last season, and including playoffs.

While McCaffrey didn't score against the Jacksonville Jaguars two weeks ago, his last touchdown-less game before that was in Week 11 of 2022 against the New Orleans Saints.

In addition to ranking 19th in points allowed and 16th in passing touchdowns allowed, Seattle ranks 24th in rushing touchdowns allowed. As long as McCaffrey finishes the game healthy, he's more likely than not to find the end zone.
