The matchup for Super Bowl LVIII has been set. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will compete in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV.

This is going to be a fun one. Not only is it a rematch of a recent Super Bowl, but it also features two of the most complete teams in the NFL. Both boast championship-caliber defenses, upper-echelon quarterbacks and a bevy of standout skill players.

Between Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, this game will have offensive star power to spare.

Fans still have to wait more than a week to see the 2023 season's final chapter unfold. It's never too early to make a few predictions, though, which is precisely what we'll do here.

Below, you'll find a look at the latest odds, player props, scheduling information and predictions for Super Bowl LVIII.

Both teams' rosters have changed significantly since their last Super Bowl meeting. However, a few familiar faces remain on each.

The Chiefs, of course, have been in two more Super Bowls since then, winning one of them, while San Francisco has not been back until now. 4ers defensive end, who was part of that 2019 team, believes the latest playoff run has set his squad up for success.

"I think these two games — we got through them and now we kind of understand what needs to be done," Bosa said, per The Athletic's Matt Barrows.

The 49ers narrowly survived both the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions during their Super Bowl run. They should indeed be prepared to face adversity. The Chiefs, meanwhile, won on the road for the first time in Patrick Mahomes' playoff career.

With road wins over the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City will also be prepared for the Super Bowl pressure. Don't expect the stage to be too big for either squad.

These teams have also evolved since Super Bowl LIV. San Francisco has a new franchise signal-caller in Purdy to go with a host of new playmakers. The Chiefs still feature Mahomes, Kelce and head coach Andy Reid, but they've morphed into a defensively driven team this year.

The 49ers have the deeper collection of offensive weapons, but Kansas City has shown that it can lean on its defense to beat elite teams. Fans should not expect a blowout victory by either team.

Prediction

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce

The big question going into this one is whether the Chiefs have the offensive playmakers to keep pace with San Francisco.

Kelce is still an elite tight end, while Rice has emerged as a dependable receiver down the stretch. Kansas City can also lean on Pacheco and the ground game. However, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan has elite players at every skill position and can create multiple mismatches on any given play.

The 49ers can score in a hurry, as evidenced by their comeback from 17 points down against Detroit last week. That game should have silenced a few of Purdy's critics too, and the 49ers feature a fairly complete offense.

San Francisco's biggest offensive issue is the lackluster right side of its offensive line. That could be a problem against Chris Jones, George Karlaftis and Kansas City's pass rush.

The Chiefs do have the defensive talent to slow San Francisco. Kansas City finished the regular season ranked second in both points and yards allowed. While San Francisco's third-ranked scoring defense is quite good, the Chiefs have the more consistent unit.

The 49ers have struggled against the run at times, and it isn't a lockdown unit on the back end either. It took a few fortunate breaks to outlast Detroit, which entered halftime with a 24-7 lead last Sunday.

If the Chiefs can play a cleaner game than the Lions and Packers did, they can pull the upset in this one. Mahomes, who has been nearly flawless this postseason, gives Kansas City a great chance to do exactly that.

San Francisco is a tremendous all-around team, but this is very familiar territory for the Chiefs. In a game with the highest of stakes, that will make the difference.

Prediction: Kansas City 29, San Francisco 25

Props Guide

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey Anytime TD

There are a few early player props we like heading into Super Bowl week. The first is McCaffrey at -210 to score an anytime touchdown. While the odds aren't particularly enticing, the chances of the 27-year-old finding the end zone are high.

McCaffrey has scored a touchdown in 15 of 18 games this season, including playoffs.

The potential payout for this prop isn't great, but it's a terrific starting point for fans looking to wrap props into a parlay. It will be a fairly significant surprise if McCaffrey doesn't score at least once.

Isiah Pacheco Over 69.5 Rushing Yards

Pacheco is -115 to hit the over on this rushing prop, and he should stand a great chance of doing so. The Lions and Packers both found success running against San Francisco, and Reid will have two full weeks to dissect what worked in those games.

Detroit rushed for a whopping 182 yards against the 49ers last week. The ground game will be a big part of Kansas City's game plan, and Pacheco should get most of the rushing work. Pacheco will have opportunities to impact this game as a runner.

The 24-year-old only rushed for 68 yards against Baltimore last week, but he has topped 80 rushing yards in his previous three games.

Travis Kelce Over 6.5 Receptions

The final prop we love heading into Super Bowl week involves Kelce, who is -166 to hit the over on this receptions prop.

The 49ers will undoubtedly have a game plan for containing Mahomes' top target. However, Kelce has an uncanny ability to create separation, and he's frequently Kansas City's first option in clutch situations.

This postseason, Kelce has averaged 7.6 catches per game, and he had 11 against Baltimore last week. San Francisco may do a good job of limiting his yardage, but i would be a shock to see Kelce finish without more than a half dozen receptions.

Other props to consider for Super Bowl LVIII include:

  • 49ers TE George Kittle Over (-160) 3.5 Receptions
  • 49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk Over (-140) 0.5 Receptions
  • 49ers WR Deebo Samuel Over (-110) 14.5 Rushing Yards
  • Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Over (-125) 4.5 Rushing Attempts
  • Chiefs Wr Rashee Rice Over (-110) 6.5 Receiving Yards
