Novak Djokovic Surives Tough Test

Novak Djokovic needed more than three hours to defeat home-crowd favorite Jacob Fearnley.
Fearnley, who was playing in his second Grand Slam match ever, troubled the Serbian and had two break-point chances deep in the fourth set.
Not only was Djokovic able to grab the win, but his path forward is now a little easier, given the prevalence of upsets in Thursday's matchups.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion will face Alexei Popyrin in the third round, a match expected to be difficult but manageable.
Upsets Rule Bottom Half of Men's draw

The bottom half of the men's draw experienced a number of upsets on Thursday.
No. 7 seed Hubert Hurkacz, who entered Wimbledon with the fourth-best odds of winning it all, injured his right knee in the fourth set of his second-round match and was forced to retire.
Hours later, Jack Draper, another dark-horse contender, fell to Cam Norrie in straight sets.
Today's results will likely benefit Novak Djokovic, whose chances of at least reaching the semifinals seem nearly guaranteed now.
Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina Advance, Jessica Pegula Stunned

Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina both won their matches to move on to the third round of Wimbledon.
While Swiatek and Rybakina were able to advance, Jessica Pegula was not as lucky.
In arguably the upset of the day, 22-year-old Xinyu Wang defeated Pegula in three sets.
The American was considered a dark horse contender after reaching the quarterfinal round of Wimbledon just a year ago.
Despite Pegula's absence, Swiatek and Rybakina will still face challenges in their draw with Ons Jabeur and Jelena Ostapenko in impressive form.
