Coco Gauff won in straight sets to reach the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 20-year-old is playing in her first Olympic Games and is the second favorite to win Olympic gold outside of Iga Swiatek.

While Gauff dominated, other players were not as lucky.

Notably, Barbora Krejcikova, the No. 9 seed, narrowly survived in a three-set thriller, while No. 10 seed Jelena Ostapenko lost in straight sets.

Here are some noteworthy reactions from Day 2 at Roland Garros.

Coco Gauff opened up her match against Ajla Tomljanovic by winning three straight games.

From then on, the match was never in question.

The top-seeded American needed 57 minutes, limiting Tomljanovic to just three total games, all of which came in the first set.

Gauff is expected to be Iga Swiatek's biggest threat to winning a gold medal and has the second-best odds to win it all.

The 20-year-old has a fairly favorable path and shouldn't encounter any significant challenges until the fourth round, when she might face No. 7 seed Maria Sakkari.

Elsewhere in the draw, No. 10 seed Jelena Ostapenko fell in straight sets.

Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion, was among the top-five favorites to win an Olympic gold, though she committed 41 unforced errors.

Caroline Wozniacki overcame a set-and-break deficit to defeat Mayar Sherif in three sets.

Despite struggling early, the 2012 Olympic quarterfinalist found her best tennis late.

The former world No. 1 will likely have her hands full in the second round, facing No. 8 seed Danielle Collins.

In other women's action, 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova rallied from a set down to defeat Sara Sorribes Tormo in a third-set tiebreaker.

Both players are considered dark horse contenders and, given their career success, should not be counted out.
