Coco Gauff's aspirations for an Olympic gold medal in the women's singles draw will have to wait another four years.

Donna Vekic stunned the top-seeded American on Tuesday in straight sets.

Gauff, the 2022 French Open runner-up, was the second favorite to win gold, though she struggled to maintain rhythm, particularly from the baseline or the net.

Here's how the women's bracket looks now, in her absence.

Coco Gauff Falls in Stunning Upset

Coco Gauff's hopes of winning an Olympic gold medal in the women's singles draw have come to a stunning halt.

The 20-year-old struggled to maintain rhythm in her third-round match against Donna Vekic.

Gauff's serve, usually an advantage, became an Achilles heel, and she won just 56% of points on her first serve.

Furthermore, she committed 12 more unforced errors than she hit winners.

The top-seeded American's dismissal opens up a massive window of opportunity for other players in her half of the draw.
