After becoming the oldest men's singles tennis player to win an Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Novak Djokovic heads to the 2024 US Open, searching for yet another elusive record: a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.

The 37-year-old is the reigning champion at the US Open; however, the gap between him and the next generation continues to decrease.

In fact, Djokovic's two biggest current rivals, Carlos Alcaraz (2024 French Open, Wimbledon) and Jannik Sinner (2024 Australian Open), are responsible for all three Grand Slam titles this year.

In the women's draw, Iga Swiatek enters as the top seed, while Coco Gauff is the defending champion.

However, No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka holds the shortest odds to win the title.

Sabalenka, the runner-up from last year, has been dominant in the last few weeks, recently defeating Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula in consecutive days to win the Cincinnati Open title without dropping a single set.

With the US Open set to begin Monday, here's a look at where the odds stand for the top players and predictions before play gets underway.

Men's Singles Predictions

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AUGUST 22: Jannik Sinner of Italy returns the ball during a practice session prior to the start of the 2024 US Open at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on August 22, 2024 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. Carlos Alcaraz enters the 2024 US Open as the favorite to hoist the year's final Grand Slam title.

The No. 3 seed faces a tough bracket, and while he is more than capable of advancing deep, a semifinal showdown against No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner may tell all.

Sinner, the 2024 Australian Open champion, has consistently performed at a high level this season, particularly on the hard-court surface where his powerful groundstrokes are effective.

The Italian has amassed a 28-2 record on the hard-court surface this season, including titles at the 2024 Australian Open and, most recently, the Cincinnati Open.

While the top half of the draw will likely be a battle between Sinner and Alcaraz, the bottom is for Novak Djokovic's taking.

The No. 2 seed should be able to emerge from the bottom half, and a potential matchup with Ben Shelton in the fourth round or Alexander Zverev in the semifinal seems to pose his biggest challenges.

Zverev is more than capable of defeating Djokovic, especially considering his current form.

However, the Serbian is still searching for his first grand slam title of the year—usually an anomaly at this point of the year—making the task of defeating him that much more difficult.

Prediction: Djokovic over Sinner in five sets.

Aryna Sabalenka found her top form just in time.

The No. 2 seed enters New York a week removed from a dominant display at the Cincinnati Open, where she won the title without dropping a single set.

The two-time Grand Slam champion continues to excel on her first serve while often dismantling her opponent's second serve with aggressive groundstrokes.

While she has won two of the last three hard-court Grand Slams, she faces a difficult path, highlighted by a potential semifinal showdown against defending champion Coco Gauff.

While the bottom half of the draw is expected to heavily favor Sabalenka, the top draw is up for grabs.

Top seed Iga Swiatek is the favorite, though No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina, 17-year-old wunderkind Mirra Andreeva, and a resurgent Leylah Fernandez are all legitimate contenders.

Each of the four players is capable, but Swiatek should be able to do enough to reach the final.

Prediction: Sabalenka over Swiatek in three sets.
