7 Best Options to Win WWE's 1st Women's United States Championship

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis revealed to the world a brand new championship for WWE on Friday night.

The title was the Women's United States Championship, which means the women's division will have a midcard title on the main roster for the first time.

Fans have been calling for this for a long time, and after the success of the Women's North American Championship in NXT, it felt like the right time to bring a similar title to Raw and SmackDown.

The roster has many women who would be great inaugural champions, but there are a handful who make more sense than the rest.

Let's take a look at the seven best options to win the women's U.S. title first.

Ivy Nile

Who would be better to hold the women's U.S. title first than the sole woman in American Made?

All jokes aside, Ivy Nile is actually an excellent pick to be the first United States champion because of her skill and unique attributes.

She may be one of the shortest members of the roster, but what she lacks in height she more than makes up for with strength, ability and quickness.

It's unfortunate that WWE hasn't done a better job featuring her on the main roster. She is aligned with the Creed Brothers and Chad Gable, but she never seems to be the one getting the push out of the four.

Winning a midcard title as its inaugural champion would not only help Nile, but it would also help American Made as a whole.

Piper Niven

Other than two short 24/7 title reigns, Piper Niven has never held singles gold in WWE. That feels like an oversight.

She spent time in both NXT UK and NXT before being brought to the main roster, but the only active championship she has held is the women's tag titles alongside Chelsea Green.

The Scot is a great performer who has proved she can get the fans on her side. Not only can WWE give her a much-deserved push with this belt, but it can also use the title as a catalyst for a breakup with a jealous Green if management wants to make one of them a babyface for a feud.

Niven has had impressive performances against powerhouse stars such as Bianca Belair plenty of times, so we know she can support a solo run with her in-ring work.

There would be no downside to giving Niven the first reign with the new title.

Raquel Rodriguez

Liv Morgan and The Judgment Day are powerful forces on Raw. She is the women's champion, while Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh hold the tag titles.

If WWE wants to throw a little more weight behind the group, giving Raquel Rodriguez the U.S. title would help.

Morgan and Rodriguez being allies and singles champions at the same time would bring a lot of attention their way. But if WWE wanted to make them into a true megapower, having them hold the women's tag titles at the same time would be the icing on the cake.

Rodriguez being Morgan's muscle is fine, but booking them more as equals with their own goals while still being a cohesive unit would put a new spin on a well-worn story.

Currently, they have the dynamic of Diesel and Shawn Michaels when Big Daddy Cool was HBK's muscle, but what they should be aiming for is the dynamic between Michaels and Triple H in DX. Giving Rodriguez the U.S. title would accomplish that.

Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler is one of the most underused and underappreciated talents on the WWE roster, and it's been far too long since she held a singles title.

In NXT, The Queen of Spades was nearly unstoppable. She spent the better part of three years dominating the division, and it looked like she would do the same thing on the main roster after she cleaned house at Elimination Chamber 2020 by eliminating all five of her opponents.

While she is a three-time tag champ, Baszler has yet to win a singles title on Raw or SmackDown despite being one of the most qualified.

The U.S. title tournament would be a great way for her to remind everybody why she is somebody who needs to be feared, not overlooked. After all, the woman who drove Ronda Rousey out of WWE should be considered pretty badass.

Mia 'Michin' Yim

In six years, Mia Yim has never held a title in NXT or on the WWE main roster. Let that sink in for a moment.

Anybody who has been following Michin's career knows she is an incredibly talented wrestler who has more than enough charisma. The fact that WWE has never put a single belt on her feels like a crime.

She has come close several times, especially during her two-year run in NXT, but management never pushed the button on her push for some reason.

Over the past few months, Yim has been featured prominently on television and is in a prime position to earn her first championship in WWE. If there is anybody who has been overlooked for too long and deserves this opportunity, it's her.

Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green is, arguably, one of the most valuable talents on the entire WWE roster because she takes every single thing she is given and makes it great.

In anyone else's hands, that garbage gimmick from a few weeks ago would have flopped, but she is so funny and so engaging that you can't help but be entertained when she is on screen.

Green has had some success as a tag team wrestler but would really shine as the first women's United States champion.

Having her cheat and scheme her way to the title would be the obvious route for her character, but having her earn it by showing off her wrestling ability would be more satisfying and give her a better start as the new champion.

Both Niven and Green would be great candidates, but between the two, the latter seems like the bigger possibility.

Naomi

Naomi is the only former singles champion on the main roster to make this list, but it's been so long since she held a title that now would be the perfect time to remind everyone how good she is.

Her allies, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, are the women's tag team champions. If Naomi had a belt of her own, they would be one of the most powerful groups in WWE.

Not only is she a popular star whose victory would be cheered by fans, but she is also a great ambassador for the company. She would represent WWE well in every situation because she's already proved she can in the past.

Out of the seven names listed here, Naomi feels like the safest bet, but it's still up in the air.

Who do you think would be a good choice to crown as the inaugural women's United States champion?
