Chelsea Green Makes History, Takeaways from WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Results

Saturday Night's Main Event returned to television this week for the first time since 2008, and WWE packed the show with some big matches to make sure it was a must-see event.
The card included four title bouts. Three were for world titles and one was the finals in a tournament to crown the first-ever women's United States champion.
Here is the full match card from Saturday's show:
- Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens (Undisputed WWE Championship)
- Liv Morgan vs. Iyo Sky (Women's World Championship)
- Gunther vs. Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor (Men's World Championship)
- Chelsea Green vs. Michin (Women's United States Championship)
- Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre
Let's take a look at some of the biggest takeaways from this special event.
WWE Knows Nostalgia Sells
Bringing back Saturday Night's Main Event is going to add four more events to the WWE calendar, but more notably, it allows the company to lean heavily into its past.
Nostalgia sells in just about every entertainment medium. We always see the past through rose-colored glasses and view it as the good old days, and WWE knows a lot of adult fans miss the way the company used to present its product.
SNME gave WWE and its fans a night built on nostalgia. Everything from the music to the retro entrance set and ring ropes to having Jesse Ventura appear was meant to evoke the '80s feel of the original SNME broadcasts. Joe Tessitore was even wearing a tux with a red bowtie.
The icing on the cake was allowing Rhodes to wear the winged eagle version of the WWE Championship for his match against Owens.
Iyo Sky Is One of the Best

Sky received a shot at the women's world title on Saturday and even though she came up short, she once again proved that she is one of the best in-ring performers on the entire WWE roster.
It doesn't matter if it's a dropkick, a German suplex or a moonsault. When Sky performs a maneuver, there is an extra level of polish on it.
She is called The Genius of the Sky because of her agility, but she is actually a well-rounded performer who is great at striking, technical wrestling and submission wrestling, too.
The crowd has always given her a lot of support because she makes every match exciting, and you could hear the disappointment in the audience when she lost after giving Morgan a tough fight.
Sky has given us countless great matches and she delivered again with the champion on Saturday.
We Have Our First Women's United States Champion

The past few weeks have seen a tournament play out on SmackDown to crown the first-ever women's United States champion.
A dozen women competed hoping to be the first one to hold this belt, but there was only room for two in the finals, and those two women were Green and Michin.
This wasn't the first time they had gone to battle. Michael Cole even referenced their time and accomplishments in TNA while hyping them up on commentary.
As usual, Piper Niven was in Green's corner to give her an unfair advantage by interfering whenever the referee was distracted.
After a hard-fought match, Green was able to hit the Unprettier in a unique way to score the win. Even though she is a heel, the crowd gave her a great reaction when she won. It's too bad WWE didn't give her more time to celebrate before the show went to a break.
Kevin Owens Isn't Done with Cody Rhodes
The main event of the show saw Rhodes defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against his former friend, Owens.
This feud has been building for a couple of months, but it has picked up a lot of momentum in recent weeks. KO still sees himself as the good guy, and frankly, so do a lot of members of the WWE Universe.
The fans haven't turned against Rhodes, but many believe Owens is justified in his anger. The phrase "Kevin Owens did nothing wrong" has become very common on social media.
Donning the classic winged eagle WWE Championship, Rhodes walked into the match hoping to put this feud behind him once and for all. The Prize Fighter didn't make it easy for him though.
After two different officials were taken out during the match, Owens looked like he had it won before Rhodes hit his finisher on top of a steel chair to get the win.
Having KO lose this way not only protects him, but it gives him an argument for an eventual rematch since he had Rhodes pinned at one point when the first ref was down.
This is a feud with a lot of life left in it, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Owens challenge him again at The Royal Rumble next month.
