The Philadelphia Eagles are enjoying their second Super Bowl victory in seven years, but the front office will soon return to work, focusing on a repeat in 2025.

To do that, they must continue to build around Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia finished the 2024 season with the 29th-ranked pass offense. Hurts only averaged 193.5 passing yards per game, which ranked 28th leaguewide.

Running back Saquon Barkley carried the majority load on offense. He led the league in touches (378) and scrimmage yards (2,283).

The Eagles can make five moves to help Hurts balance the offense in the upcoming season.

Offer OC Kellen Moore a Pay Raise

The Eagles could lose offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints, who have yet to fill their head coaching vacancy.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Moore is in "a very strong position" for the Saints' opening.

Early offseason reports linked Aaron Glenn and Mike McCarthy to the Saints job. Glenn accepted an offer from the New York Jets, while McCarthy plans to focus on the 2026 hiring cycle, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Two other top head coaching candidates, Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, will remain with their current teams.

The Eagles offense scored the seventh-most points and racked up the eighth-most yards under Moore this season. He also helped Saquon Barkley post career highs in rushing (2,005) and scrimmage yards (2,283).

Moore's running back-centric offense took a significant load off Hurts' shoulders, though the Eagles signal-caller also recorded career highs in completion rate (68.7) and passer rating 103.7.

Like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried to do with Liam Coen, Philadelphia should offer Moore a new contract to make him one of the league's highest-paid offensive coordinators.

Sign a Veteran Guard

Eagles guard Mekhi Becton

Four of the Eagles' five starting offensive linemen are already under contract for next season, but right guard Mekhi Becton is set to become a free agent. He played a big role in opening lanes for the Eagles' second-ranked ground attack.

The 25-year-old figures to have several suitors in free agency after resuscitating his career in Philadelphia. That may force the Eagles to consider a cheaper option.

If 2023 third-round pick Tyler Steen or rookie fifth-rounder Trevor Keegan don't take hold of the starting job at guard, an experienced veteran could be a plug-and-play option. Among the impending free-agent guards, Kevin Zeitler and Brandon Scherff would make sense.

Zeitler has been serviceable with five teams in 13 seasons. He made the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2023. Meanwhile, Scherff didn't give up a sack in 1,013 offensive snaps this season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Pro Football Focus,.

To upgrade Hurts' interior pass protection and maintain their high-powered ground game that complements him, the Eagles should invest in a proven guard.

Sign a Reliable Pass-Catching Running Back

Star running back Saquon Barkley is already under contract for 2025, but second-string tailback Kenneth Gainwell is set to test free agency. In his four years with the Eagles, he caught 102 passes for 721 yards and a touchdown.

Though the 25-year-old served in mostly a reserve role, Hurts will miss his contributions in the short passing game.

Rookie fourth-rounder Will Shipley may be able to handle third-down responsibilities moving forward. But regardless of how the Eagles view his development, they should sign a veteran pass-catching running back with sure hands and the ability to pick up blocking assignments.

The Eagles could also upgrade their pass protection at the position. Perhaps they can find a running back who is bigger than Gainwell (5'9", 200 lbs) and also effective as a pass-catcher.

Shipley has an average-sized frame (5'11", 209 lbs). Former B/R NFL Scouting Department scout Derrik Klassen also raised concerns about his play strength before last year's draft. The Eagles should have an alternative option ready to take over Gainwell's role.

Bring in Competition for the No. 3 Wide Receiver Position

Eagles WR Jahan Dotson

The Eagles acquired Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders last offseason. However, he struggled to establish himself in Philadelphia, catching only 19 passes for 216 yards during the regular season.

Dotson still has one year left on his contract. The highly touted receiver out of Penn State has struggled to meet the expectations of a former first-round pick. In three years, he has yet to catch 50 passes or eclipse 523 receiving yards in a season.

This past season, wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith each missed four games. In the game that they both sat out because of injuries–Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers–Hurts threw for only 158 yards and a touchdown, and the Eagles recorded their second-lowest scoring total of the season.

Tight end Dallas Goedert can fill a void in the passing game if Brown or Smith miss time because of injury. Still, the Eagles can upgrade their 29th-ranked aerial attack with a chain-mover to round out their receiver trio.

Add Competition for the Swing Tackle Position

Eagles OT Fred Johnson

Philadelphia must add another layer of pass protection for Hurts. This past season, star left tackle Jordan Mailata missed five games. Right tackle Lane Johnson has been durable over his last three Pro Bowl years, but he will turn 35 in May.

The Eagles should look to upgrade their swing tackle position, or else Hurts could be under constant duress if he loses one of his starting bookend offensive linemen.

This past season, backup offensive tackle Fred Johnson allowed eight sacks in only 480 snaps, per Pro Football Focus. He'll be a free agent in March, so the Eagles should let him walk and find an upgrade to back up Mailata and Johnson.

With $18.1 million in cap space, the Eagles can strengthen the depth at a key position responsible for keeping Hurts upright in the pocket.
