NHL Trade Rumors: 4 Teams That Can Meet Ducks Asking Price for Ryan or Getzlaf

If we let reality set in, the chances of actually seeing the kind of blockbuster deal that would send either Bobby Ryan or Ryan Getzlaf out of Anaheim is highly unlikely.

In fact, I would make the case that such a deal wouldn't represent desperation on the Ducks' part, but rather desperation on the part of another team who was in bad enough shape to offer up the staggering price tag for either of these two cornerstone players.

Ryan and Getzlaf aren't just point producers, they're players that you build a team around, and if Anaheim lets them walk, the return will have to be gaudy and would probably involve more then one prime prospect and multiple first-round draft picks.

The team that is able to afford this asking price would need to have a relatively successful young team with a lot of talent some offensive production to spare. That makes our list of Ryan and Getzlaf bidders very low.

Aside from the four teams mentioned here, we won't see too many other clubs with the mix of prospects and heavy talent up front, who could afford to make such a huge investment.

New York Islanders

Anaheim could land either or both of Kyle Okposo and Michael Grabner along with this year's first-round draft pick, which right now would come in at No. 5, right behind the Ducks who currently hold the fourth pick.

If the Islanders can add someone aside from John Tavares to build around, they could be well on their way to turning their franchise north. Considering their youth movement of the last several years hasn't paid off, they can afford to unload some prospects and draft picks.

Buffalo Sabres

While Buffalo was at one point a very powerful team who relied on their depth, a lack of star power has really started to cause problems for the Sabres.

Yet they still have some pieces to work with. Buffalo could package a guy like Luke Adam with Derek Roy, along with a first and second-round draft pick, which would likely be enough to get Bob Murray to pull the trigger on either Ryan or Getzlaf.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have had a bit of an up and down season but nonetheless have a lot of pieces to work with. A team with as much depth as the Flyers can certainly afford to pay Anaheim's asking price, and they may have the motive as well.

The Flyers are thin at center, and with both Ryan and Getzlaf capable of playing the position, Paul Holmgren may want to give Claude Giroux a true centerman for his first line.

Holmgren may be willing to package Matt Read, Matt Carle and a first-round draft pick to make that happen.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Brian Burke is no stranger to big trades, or the Anaheim Ducks for that matter. He's got a lot of pieces to work with, and landing either Ryan or Getzlaf could really solidify his team as a playoff contender.

Nazem Kadri is a name often associated with the Getzlaf and Ryan trade rumors, though Luke Schenn, Jake Gardiner, Joe Colbore and several others are all considered excellent prospects.

The odds of Gardiner going back to Anaheim are slim, as he's looking to be an absolute steal (coming over in the Beauchemin trade) for Toronto. The rest however are all potential lures, depending on how Brian Burke packaged them.

Toronto has more then enough pieces to make this kind of blockbuster trade happen.
