Hulk Transfer Rumours: Latest News on the Zenit St Petersburg Star

So, January is upon us, the month when weeks of anticipation and salivation finally become reality or, in the majority of cases, lead to an underwhelming climax.

The fate of Brazilian international Hulk will doubtless generate a few headlines over the coming days and weeks. The forward was linked with a move away from Zenit Saint Petersburg ever since the summer. We may soon be about to learn whether his time in Russia is drawing to a close.

This article will keep you on top of all the rumours and speculation that surround the former Porto man over the next seven days.

Spurs out of the Running

One of the major clubs to be associated with Hulk over the last few months have been London giants Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it seems that a change of scene at Spurs has ended the speculation linking the Brazilian to White Hart Lane.

SportsDirect News reported that Hulk was one of the favoured targets of former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas.

AVB, it appears, had sought Hulk during the summer, but his hopes weren’t supported by Daniel Levy and the Lilywhite hierarchy. Following the Portuguese’s departure from North London, SDN believe that all Spurs interest in Hulk has ended.

Internazionale

One rumour that refuses to go away is that linking Hulk with a move to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri are sure to be a lightning rod for transfer gossip this January after owner Erick Thohir and manager Walter Mazzarri expressed commitment to a complete overhaul of the squad.

One of the names linked with a switch to the San Siro is Hulk.

Football Italia reported that the Brazilian frontman would be keen to end his troubled stay in Russia by signing on for Inter.

Such a transfer would certainly address the Lombardy club’s need for more firepower. Rodrigo Palacio is a capable but ageing forward, while new recruits Ishak Belfodil and Mauro Icardi are yet to demonstrate their capabilities in Milan. Diego Milito is surely coming to the end of his career.

Hulk has the ability to make a difference to Inter’s season and also possesses the status and reputation to reinvigorate the fallen giant.

An Extended Stay

According to Sky Sports, however, Hulk isn’t going anywhere. Paulo Freitas reported that the striker has revealed he is keen to remain at Zenit.

Ignoring the speculation linking him to a move to Western Europe, Hulk apparently insisted that he was focusing on the Saint Petersburg club’s continued progress in the Champions League and on his own personal performance ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking to Globo Esporte (via Sky Sports) he said: "I hope to keep helping Zenit in the Champions League and in the Russian League in 2014.”
