Boise State Football Recruiting: Meet All the 2014 Commits

When head coach Bryan Harsin took over at Boise State, one of the first orders of business was to put together a recruiting class for 2014.

That task wouldn't be easy with several recruits flipping commitment to the University of Washington or choosing to go elsewhere in the wake of the coaching transition in Boise.

However, what coach Harsin and his staff have done since that time has been nothing short of remarkable.

Not only have they put together what looks to be an outstanding recruiting class, but they have also energized many fans who were worried what the Broncos would do after the departure of Chris Petersen.

Let's look at the list of current commits for the Broncos in 2014 and what it means for Bronco Nation.

Alex Ogle

Ogle is a 6'3", 190-pound pro-style quarterback out of Jensen Beach, Fla. Ogle is rated as a 3-star recruit, and he had offers from FIU, FAU and UMass.

The young quarterback seems extremely excited to be a Bronco.

In a recent article by B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press-Tribune, Ogle is quoted as saying, "I always thought in my head it would be a dream come true to go to Boise State, and it came true."

Thomas Stuart

Stewart is a 6'1", 200-pound pro-style quarterback from Butte College. The JUCO transfer will most likely be a walk-on, but he is a talented player that is certainly capable of earning a scholarship quickly.

Stuart led Butte College to a national championship in his freshman season, and according to Bryan Murphy of the Idaho Statesman, Stewart has four years to play three.

Cory Young

Young is a 3-star running back out of Norco, Calif. He is 5'10", 180 pounds and has a first move that is simply incredible.

Boise State has a number of quality running backs on its roster, but Young looks like he could push for playing time early. He is a great addition to the team, and Boise State fans should be excited about him.

He is certainly excited to be a Bronco.

In an article written by B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press-Tribune, Young is quoted as saying:

I’m really excited. I can’t wait to get up there. I’m happy. I really loved Boise, its always been a dream to go there since I was little, playing with them on the video games and stuff. I’m just excited that I’m actually committed to them.

According to the same article, the talented running back rushed for 2,450 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior.

Also, the article notes that 11 other schools were recruiting Young. A list that included other Mountain West schools and Colorado and Washington State of the Pac-12.

Troy Bacon

Bacon is a 3-star offensive lineman out of Oak Hills High School in Hesperia, Calif. He is 6'3", 281 pounds and plays extremely physical.

Bacon had several other offers, but decided to stick with the Broncos. Boise State fans should be excited he did so. 

Tennessee Su'esu'e

Su'esu'e is a 3-star offensive lineman out of East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. At 6'2", 295 pounds, he has the size to compete right away.

According to Trevor Phibbs of the Desert News, Su'esu'e expects to be playing center for the Broncos. The article also quotes the lineman about his thoughts of Boise State and the coaching staff:

I love the coaching staff that’s coming in and the atmosphere that Boise State provides. It’s in a wonderful community area and I want to major in education and try and become a teacher and they have a great program for that, too.

Jehren Ertel

Ertel is a 3-star offensive lineman out of Glendale Community College. The JUCO transfer is 6'6", 280 pounds and is another player with the size and talent to compete for playing time right away.

According to BroncoSports.com, Ertel played eight-man football while in high school.

Andres Preciado

Preciado is a 2-star offensive lineman out of Imperial Beach, Calif. He stands 6'6", but he weighs just 250 pounds.

He will need to add some pounds before he hits The Blue. However, what he lacks in girth, he more than makes up for with brain power. 

According to B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press-Tribune, Preciado has a 4.3 GPA, and chose Boise State over some Ivy League schools.

Chase Blakley

Blakley is a 6'4", 220-pound 3-star tight end out of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

He made headlines recently when he decided to change his commitment from the University of Washington to Boise State.

It is something fans of the Broncos enjoyed seeing after a handful of former Boise State commits chose to flip to Washington.

David Lucero

David Lucero is a 3-star tight end from Holtville, Calif. He is 6'5", 220 pounds and should be a great fit for the new Boise State offense.

Lucero is from a small high school, but that doesn't take anything away from his talent. Fans can expect good things from this recruit.

Kekoa Nawahine

Nawahine is a local 3-star recruit out of Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho. He is a 6'3", 190-pound wide receiver with good hands and a great attitude.

He probably redshirts in 2014, but after some development, look for him to have a solid presence on The Blue.

Sean Modster

Sean Modster is a 2-star wide receiver from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He is 6'0", 185 pounds, is agile and has good hands.

Jeremy McNichols

McNichols is 2-star wide receiver. He is 5'10", 185 pounds, and he was another commit to make headlines when he decided to flip his commitment from the University of Utah to the Broncos.

Boise State fans have to be happy to have him. He should do great things in Boise.

Rondell McNair

A JUCO transfer out of Contra Costa College, Rondell McNair is a 3-star defensive end. He is 6'4", 255 pounds and plays football with a serious chip on his shoulder. He should fit in well at Boise State and should contribute right away.

Antoine Turner

Turner is another JUCO transfer. He is 3-star defensive tackle out of Fullerton College. At 6'3", 280 pounds, he also has the size and experience to contribute right away.

David Moa

David Moa is a 3-star defensive end out of San Diego. He had offers from BYU and Colorado, but chose Boise State. He is 6'3", 242 pounds and might be a bit underrated. 

Dereck Boles

Boles is a 2-star defensive tackle. He is 6'2", 275 pounds. The Broncos gave him his first FBS offer, and he has stayed committed.

Jabril Frazier

Frazier waited until signing day to officially commit, but Boise State fans should realize he is well worth the wait. He picked the Boise State hat over USC and Arizona. He also had offers from Utah and Northern Arizona.

At 6'4", 225-pounds, Frazier brings an intimidating presence. He is fast, strong and plays like a storm under control. It won't be a surprise if he plays in his first year as a Bronco. 

Kaleb Hill

At 6'1", 200 pounds, this 3-star linebacker out of Schertz, Texas had offers from Colorado and Vanderbilt. However, he chose Boise State, and fans should be truly happy he did so.

Hill told Jay Tust of KTVB.com about his feelings for Boise State. He said, "I felt like Boise was the place for me and that I could do great things at Boise State University."

Fans should indeed expect great things from this recruit.

Dylan Sumner-Gardner

When 4-star safety Dylan Sumner-Gardner decided to change his commitment from Texas A&M to Boise State, it made some big waves on The Blue.

Fans were extremely excited to have the 6'1", 193-pound athlete commit to the Broncos, and it was a huge boost to the 2014 recruiting class.

Sumner-Gardner made it clear to B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press-Tribune that one of the biggest reasons he was heading to Boise was to follow coach Marcel Yates.

Zavior Hoxie

He had offers from East Carolina, Wisconsin and Arkansas State. However, 3-star cornerback Zavior Hoxie chose Boise State over all of them.
