Ranking the 5 Greatest Sharpshooters in Philadelphia Flyers History

The Philadelphia Flyers have had some incredible goal scorers in their 47-year history.

Snipers who could bury pucks from just about anywhere. Playmakers who could turn nothing into something. And power forwards who could routinely finish in and around the front of the net.

But rather than simply outline the five greatest goal scorers in team history, this breakdown will dig a bit deeper.

In determining the five greatest sharpshooters in Flyers history, it's important to analyze not just how many goals players have scored through the years in Philadelphia, but the number of games it took to compile those totals. What's more, added value will be given to those players who produced impressive 40-, 50- or even 60-goal campaigns.

With that, here's a look at the five greatest sharpshooters in Flyers history.

Even though he ranks just 16th on Philadelphia's all-time list in games played (606), Leach currently sits seventh among all Flyers in goals with 306 career conversions with the Orange and Black.

What's more, his average of 0.50 goals per game while with the Flyers ranks fourth among Philadelphia's top 10 all-time goal scorers.

A 13-year NHL veteran, Leach suited up for the Flyers from 1974 to 1982 and amassed 24 or more goals during each of his eight seasons in the City of Brotherly Love.

The Riverton, Manitoba, native tallied 40 or more goals three times with the Flyers and holds the franchise record for goals in a single season when he recorded 61 markers during the 1975-76 campaign. On top of that, Leach holds the Flyers' record and is tied for the NHL record for goals in a single postseason with 19 conversions during the 1976 Stanley Cup playoffs.

A two-time All-Star, Leach was inducted in the Flyers' Hall of Fame in 1992.

Acquired by the Flyers during the 1994-95 season, LeClair spent parts of 10 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love and amassed 333 goals in 649 games with the Orange and Black.

A native of St. Albans, Vermont, LeClair ranks 11th on Philadelphia's all-time list for games played but fifth in total goals. What's more, the five-time All-Star is third on Philly's all-time list having averaged 0.51 goals per game.

One of the NHL's most prolific goal scorers during the 1990s, LeClair registered 20 or more goals in eight of his 10 seasons with the Flyers and was responsible for one of the most productive goal-scoring runs in team history when he amassed 235 goals during a five-year period from 1995 to 2000.

A 16-year NHL veteran, LeClair was awarded the Bobby Clarke Trophy as Philadelphia's most valuable player in back-to-back years in 1997 and 1998.

To date, Barber has produced the most goals in Flyers franchise history with 420 career conversions. With that information alone, one might assume the Callander, Ontario, native should be at the top of this list.

He's not, though, because while Barber has amassed the most goals in team history, he did so over the second-most contests in franchise history (903 games). As such, his 0.465 goals-per-game average ranks sixth among Philadelphia's all-time top 10 goal scorers.

Still, Barber tallied 20 or more goals in each of his 12 seasons with the Flyers and notched 30 or more markers nine different times. His best goal-scoring season came during his fourth NHL campaign when Barber amassed 50 goals during the 1975-76 season.

The Flyers retired Barber's number, 7, in October 1990 just after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Lindros may not have fully lived up to the hype surrounding his first overall selection in the 1991 NHL entry draft, but he was one of the most efficient goal scorers in Flyers history.

Despite being tied for 32nd in team history in games played with 486 outings, the Big E is ranked eighth on Philadelphia's all-time list with 290 total goals. What's more, his 0.60 goals-per-game average ranks second all-time among Flyers forwards.

After joining the Orange and Black in 1992, Lindros immediately produced back-to-back 40-goal campaigns and went on to tally at least 27 markers in each of his eight seasons in the City of Brotherly Love.

After claiming the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 1995, the London, Ontario, native amassed career highs the following year in goals (47), assists (68) and points (115).

A six-time All-Star, Lindros won the Bobby Clarke Trophy as Flyers MVP four times in a six-year period from 1994 to 1999.

The most efficient goal scorer in Flyers history, Kerr amassed 363 conversions in just 601 contests while in Philadelphia.

He's currently ranked third on Philadelphia's all-time list in total goals despite being ranked just 18th overall in games played while his 0.604 goals-per-game average tops all skaters among Philly's top 10 all-time goal producers.

A member of the Flyers from 1980 to 1991, the Windsor, Ontario, native produced double-digit goal campaigns in 10 of his 11 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love and notched at least 48 conversions on five different occasions with the Flyers.

One of the game's most dangerous snipers in the mid-1980s, Kerr compiled one of the most prolific goal-scoring runs the NHL has ever seen when he amassed 224 goals in just 304 games from 1983 to 1987.

A three-time All-Star, Kerr paced all Philadelphia skaters in goals five times in a six-year period from 1983 to 1989 and holds the franchise record with four 50-goal campaigns.
