4 Reasons Why Daryl Janmaat Will Be a Huge Player for Newcastle United

After a solid performance for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil, Daryl Janmaat earned a transfer to Premier League side Newcastle United this summer.
It's a dream move for the Dutchman. After playing for Feyenoord for two years and developing into one of the Eredivisie's best players, it was time to take the next step up.
Will Janmaat become a huge player for Newcastle? He certainly could do.
Here, we take a look at four things working in the former Feyenoord man's favour.
His Mentality Is Offensive

To play the modern game, clubs need offensive-minded full-backs. In that regard, Janmaat has just the right attributes.
Playing for Feyenoord, as well as the Netherlands, Janmaat regularly bombed forward on the right flank, providing width and often even an extra goalscoring threat.
In the Premier League, Janmaat will surely add something to Newcastle United's attacking efforts.
He's Still an All-Rounder

However, Janmaat's offensive abilities do not stop him from carrying out his defensive duties.
In an ideal world, at least.
During the Netherlands' Euro 2016 qualifier against the Czech Republic, for example, the right-back made a defensive howler when he headed the ball back to his own goal and practically handed his opponents the winner.
That doesn't mean he's not good at his job, though. All in all, Janmaat remains an all-rounder, capable of joining attacks but staying back when he's needed in defence.
He Is Not a Youngster Anymore

Sometimes, Dutch players will make the move from the Eredivisie to a bigger league at a relatively young age.
That's not the case with 25-year-old Janmaat. The former Feyenoord player is yet to reach his maximum potential, but he is not a youngster anymore.
Arguably, that's ideal for Newcastle United. On the one hand, they get a mature footballer. On the other hand, he'll likely become even better in the future.
He's Still Making Progress

That means Janmaat, at the age of 25, is still making progress, becoming a better footballer with each game he plays.
The exposure he will get at the high level of the Premier League, both on Newcastle's training pitch and during matches, will surely help him in that.
Make no mistake: There is a huge difference between the opponents he'll face in England and the opponents he faced with Feyenoord. Janmaat will have to improve to survive—he'll have no other choice.
