5 Possible Destinations for Thierry Henry
5 Possible Destinations for Thierry Henry

On Monday Thierry Henry announced he would be leaving the New York Red Bulls after four-and-a-half years, per the Independent.
The Frenchman played his 135th and final game for the Red Bulls at the weekend when they lost to New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference Championship play-off.
The World Cup winner has yet to decide on where he will now take his talents, but here are five possible destinations.
Arsenal
Henry has already made one comeback at Arsenal, on loan from the Red Bulls in 2012, so he is bound to be interested in returning to his spiritual home once again.
Now 37, he would probably be too old to be given a playing role in the squad but a position on the coaching staff could be enough to lure him back.
As reported by the BBC, Henry last month told the French newspaper L’Equipe, “One thing is certain: I will stay in football, as a coach, a consultant or executive. We will see. The second certainty is that I would love to see Arsenal win the Champions League. Whether that is from near or far does not depend on me, but it is sure I'd like to help.”
Queens Park Rangers

As Darren Lewis in the Daily Mirror has reported the Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is keen to bring Jermain Defoe to Loftus Road in this January transfer window.
The west London club have struggled for goals this season, and Redknapp sees the former Tottenham and Portsmouth striker, now playing for Toronto FC, as the solution.
But now Henry is also on the market, could Redknapp be tempted to swap his attentions to lure a different striker from the MLS?
Henry could be an inspired short-term fix for the rest of the season to help keep QPR in the Premier League.
Monaco

An emotional return to the club where it all started for Henry could appeal to him if he wants to extend his playing career.
Henry played for Monaco for five years between 1994 and 1999 before leaving for Juventus.
After losing Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez in the summer, Monaco have struggled this season and could be interested in taking back Henry in the short term.
Crystal Palace

South of the Thames, Crystal Palace are another London club in need of some more firepower up front.
So far this season Palace’s stable of strikers Fraizer Campbell, Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh have shown glimpses of their quality but overall lack real presence.
Neil Warnock would appreciate Henry’s experience and ability to score goals, while Henry could be interested in returning to London and the challenge of helping Palace remain in the Premier League.
The A-League

Established in 2005, the A-League is now in its 10th season and growing in strength. It was recently bolstered by Western Sydney Wanderers' Asian Champions League triumph.
The capture of marquee signings has played a crucial role in the A-League's growth over the years, and they have included Dwight Yorke, Robbie Fowler, David Villa and Alessandro Del Piero.
With Henry now back on the market it would make sense for an Australian side to enquire whether he would be interested in finishing his career on the other side of the world.
