India vs. UAE: Winners and Losers from Cricket World Cup Match

As expected, India took a comfortable victory over the United Arab Emirates in their Cricket World Cup fixture, with the Associates no match for their Full Member opponents.
The Indians won by nine wickets with 187 balls remaining, a result that was their second-biggest win in terms of balls remaining in their one-day international history.
It was an easy success, but let’s dig deep and examine who the other winners and losers were in the game.
Winner: Rohit Sharma

In the course of India’s successful run chase, opener Rohit Sharma looked in decent form with an unbeaten 57 from 55 balls to help lead his side home.
It was a satisfying outing for Sharma, and although he was not quite as aggressive as normal, he will be delighted to have contributed so much to the win.
Losers: UAE’s Batsmen

On the bouncy pitch at the WACA, the United Arab Emirates batsmen looked—for the most part—completely overmatched.
They were unable to cope with the steep bounce, with the exception of Shaiman Anwar, and they suffered for it.
Perhaps greater exposure to such pitches and bowling attacks would help them be more prepared.
Winner: Manjula Guruge

Amid India’s successful run chase, one UAE bowler shone above the rest as he prevented their charge to victory.
Manjula Guruge bowled six overs for just 19 for a very impressive economy rate of 3.16, while all his colleagues conceded over five runs per over.
Loser: Shikhar Dhawan

Until now, Shikhar Dhawan had looked in very good form with the bat, especially having scored 137 against South Africa.
However, he came unstuck against UAE and made just 14 from 17 balls before he was caught off Mohammad Naveed by Rohan Mustafa.
Winner: Ravichandran Ashwin

Taking advantage of the large amounts of bounce was Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 4-25 in UAE’s innings for his best ever ODI figures.
He ripped the heart out of UAE’s middle order, and he did so by using the foibles of the WACA pitch brilliantly.
Loser: Mohammad Tauqir

In the course of 2.5 overs, UAE off-spinner Mohammad Tauqir conceded 21 runs as India accelerated home.
He will be deeply disappointed to see his bowling disappear at 7.41 runs per over, especially as the winning runs came in his third over.
