John Cena's Weak Heel Turn Promo, Jey Uso's Botch, More WWE Raw in Brussels Takes

The March 17 edition of Raw on Netflix aired from Forest National in Brussels, Belgium and featured the return of John Cena to explain his actions at Elimination Chamber.
The GOAT opened the show to unload on a heated crowd, calling them out for bullying him without care for him as a human being.
Cody Rhodes responded with a warning to Cena that he would retire him if the veteran brought his whining persona to WrestleMania 41.
John Cena's Explanation For Turning Heel Was Weak
John Cena is the most hated man in wrestling. That is a phrase that could only be uttered a few times in his whole career.
Even in the days when he received mixed reactions, The GOAT still had a devoted fanbase behind him, cheering him on as the top guy in the business.
However, Cena was booed so loudly by the crowd in Brussels on Monday that it was difficult to hear his entrance music at all.
With all that heat, what did the veteran have to say for himself after his violent, shocking attack on Cody Rhodes? He blamed the fans for bullying him for 20-plus years.
Elements of his promo certainly rang true. The WWE Universe has given him mixed reactions in key moments of his career. Universal love was always fleeting.
However, Cena has always made clear that a reaction is what matters, and he did what he did for the young fans who believed in him.
This whining explanation, especially followed up by Rhodes calling him out, made him look the worst he ever has in terms of holding to his convictions.
If it was any other wrestler, that would be fine, but this is a man who had never turned heel for over 20 years. This is the man so many others said they looked up to in their rise to the top.
It's likely a fuller picture of Cena's heel story will be unveiled heading into WrestleMania 41 and likely beyond that.
The Rock still needs to say his piece on how this all happened, and Rhodes has clearly stated he does not "believe" Cena right now.
That does not mean the first view of The GOAT's heel character was not a disappointment after weeks of anticipation.
Hopefully, that small disappointment will be replaced with further excitement for WWE's hottest angle, especially given how well Rhodes is delivering every line right now.
Penta Must Win Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania
Penta has hit the ground running in WWE, and it looks like gold could be in his immediate future.
The luchador has set his sights on Bron Breakker's Intercontinental Championship. If he gets his shot at WrestleMania, he could have a real opportunity to level up at Allegiant Stadium next month.
Outside of Rey Mysterio, luchadors have struggled to find success in WWE over the years. Even current talent like Dragon Lee stand in the shadow of The Master of the 619.
WWE has allowed Penta to stand out as a unique star, defined only by his own gimmick and presentation.
If Penta won the intercontinental title, he would be the first Mexico-born star to hold the gold. That is a monumental achievement solidified by the place where it happened.
As WWE prepares to debut Rey Fenix, Penta needs a moment like this that shows how high he can rise in the business on his own before bringing together The Lucha Brothers.
Bianca Belair, Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley Ready to Steal the Show at 'Mania
In a moment eerily similar to Shawn Michaels interrupting the contract signing for WrestleMania XX's main event, Rhea Ripley has pushed herself into the Women's World Championship match at The Show of Shows.
Each week has delivered a new twist in what is one of the best stories the women have been given on the road to WrestleMania.
Past great 'Mania matches such as Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks, Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair and Iyo Sky vs. Bayley have been tinged with lackluster creative heading into the marquee event.
However, WWE has been on top of its game this time, highlighting all three of the top women of this modern era in different roles in the build for this contest.
Given the talent ready to compete in Las Vegas, this match is set to add another classic to the growing list of women's WrestleMania showstoppers.
No one involved is going to allow anything less than excellence at The Show of Shows.
Jey Uso Still Stumbling During Main Event Push
When the World Heavyweight Championship is on the line, the match should always feel like a big-time affair, but Gunther vs. Jey Uso seems like a side build for WrestleMania so far.
While The Ring General is delivering consistently solid heel promos, Uso is not fully keeping up with him in and out of the ring.
This week, the men's Rumble winner had a chance to play the top guy, squashing Austin Theory in less than a minute, but he could not hit his Spear cleanly and crashed hard on a somersault plancha outside the ring.
These are basic moves that are centerpieces of Uso's in-ring arsenal. If he is going to be the top champion on Raw, he needs to be able to deliver them cleanly.
At each stage of his rise, he has built crowd engagement but failed to show he can step up to the expectations behind that reaction.
Hopefully, that can change soon as WWE has invested so much in Uso. But the signs are not positive a month before WrestleMania.
Thumbs Up for Early Raw on Netflix Start Time
European tours have always set up a unique challenge for WWE.
Professional wrestling is typically more successful when aired live, but WWE needs to tape earlier shows in Europe due to the time-zone differences.
However, the move to Netflix has allowed WWE to air Raw live at the earlier time, making for a smooth experience for those able to watch earlier.
It was a nice change of pace to watch a wrestling show before the sun went down; and for those who could not watch live, it's available to view any time on Netflix.
Throughout the tour, WWE will continue to air Raw on Netflix at an earlier time, and that is a welcome change for this road to WrestleMania.
