Ranking All 30 MLB Teams' Homegrown Talent for the 2025 Season
Ranking All 30 MLB Teams' Homegrown Talent for the 2025 Season

For small-market MLB teams, finding young, cost-controlled talent is the key to remaining competitive on a budget, while big-market clubs can spend their available money more productively when they have a homegrown core to build around.
Regardless, a good in-house talent pipeline is a necessity for any team to win a title.
With that in mind, what follows is a look at how all 30 MLB franchises stack up based on homegrown talent. Clubs were initially ranked based on the number of homegrown players on the 40-man roster and then shuffled from there based on the amount of high-level talent.
Before we dive into the rankings, some quick clarification:
Who qualifies as homegrown? To be considered homegrown, a player must have been drafted by an organization or signed by it as an amateur free agent and subsequently developed in its minor league system.
What about international free agents? International players who entered the league with significant professional experience were not included. That means players such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Seiya Suzuki, Shota Imanaga, Kodai Senga, Jung Hoo Lee and Masataka Yoshida did not help their respective team's ranking.
Make sense? Let's get to it.
30. Miami Marlins

40-Man Roster: 7
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. RHP Max Meyer
2. RHP Edward Cabrera
3. C Nick Fortes
4. IF/OF Javier Sanoja
5. RHP George Soriano
The Rest: LHP Dax Fulton, OF Victor Mesa Jr., RHP Eury Pérez (60-day IL), LHP Braxton Garrett (60-day IL), LHP Andrew Nardi (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Marlins' list would look better if Eury Pérez and Braxton Garrett were part of the starting rotation rather than occupying a spot on the 60-day injured list while they recover from their respective elbow surgeries.
29. San Diego Padres

40-Man Roster: 7
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Jackson Merrill
2. LHP Adrian Morejón
3. C Luis Campusano
4. RHP Alek Jacob
5. OF Tirso Ornelas
The Rest: RHP Henry Baez, RHP Ryan Bergert
Quick Thoughts: A.J. Preller has never been shy about trading away his top prospect talent, which is a big reason why the Padres are so low in these rankings. However, he was smart enough to hold onto Jackson Merrill, who will now call San Diego home for the foreseeable future after inking a nine-year, $135 million extension earlier this month.
28. Chicago White Sox

40-Man Roster: 10
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Luis Robert Jr.
2. 1B Andrew Vaughn
3. RHP Sean Burke
4. RHP Jonathan Cannon
5. RHP Davis Martin
The Rest: IF/OF Brooks Baldwin, LHP Fraser Ellard, SS Colson Montgomery, 3B Bryan Ramos, IF Lenyn Sosa
Quick Thoughts: The trio of Sean Burke, Jonathan Cannon and Davis Martin all started the season in the White Sox rotation, and while he's not yet on the 40-man roster and not part of the conversation here as a result, Noah Schultz also represents a homegrown future rotation piece.
27. Washington Nationals

40-Man Roster: 15
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. 2B Luis García Jr.
2. OF Dylan Crews
3. RHP Jake Irvin
4. RHP Mitchell Parker
5. OF Jacob Young
The Rest: IF/OF Darren Baker, RHP Zach Brzykcy, Cade Cavalli, RHP Jose A. Ferrer, RHP Cole Henry, RHP Andry Lara, IF Trey Lipscomb, RHP Brad Lord, RHP Orlando Ribalta, RHP Jackson Rutledge
Quick Thoughts: Several key players on the Nationals roster were acquired in the blockbuster deals that sent Juan Soto, Max Scherzer and Trea Turner out of town, though they do have a potential future face of the franchise in Dylan Crews, who was the team's top pick in the 2023 draft.
26. Los Angeles Dodgers

40-Man Roster: 12
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. C Will Smith
2. RHP Dustin May
3. RHP Tony Gonsolin
4. OF Andy Pages
5. RHP Ben Casparius
The Rest: LHP Jack Dreyer, C Hunter Feduccia, RHP Edgardo Henriquez, RHP Landon Knack, RHP Bobby Miller, OF James Outman, LHP Justin Wrobleski, RHP Michael Grove (60-day IL), LHP Clayton Kershaw (60-day IL), RHP Emmet Sheehan (60-day IL), RHP Gavin Stone (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Dodgers roster is no longer loaded with homegrown talent the way it was when guys such as Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Walker Buehler, Julio Urías and others were on the team, but they do still have catcher Will Smith and starting pitchers Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin as notables who have emerged from their farm system.
25. Texas Rangers

40-Man Roster: 15
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Wyatt Langford
2. 3B Josh Jung
3. RHP Kumar Rocker
4. RHP Jack Leiter
5. OF Leody Taveras
The Rest: RHP Cody Bradford, OF Evan Carter, RHP Marc Church, IF Justin Foscue, LHP Jacob Latz, IF/OF Jonathan Ornelas, RHP Daniel Robert, RHP Winston Santos, RHP Emiliano Teodo, RHP Cole Winn
Quick Thoughts: The stalled development of Evan Carter and another injury to Josh Jung keeps the Rangers from climbing any higher in these rankings, but they could move up if Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter prove capable of holding down spots in the starting rotation for the long haul.
24. Tampa Bay Rays

40-Man Roster: 9
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. LHP Shane McClanahan
2. RHP Taj Bradley
3. 2B Brandon Lowe
4. OF Josh Lowe
5. 1B Jonathan Aranda
The Rest: RHP Yoniel Curet, LHP Mason Montgomery, LHP Ian Seymour, SS Taylor Walls
Quick Thoughts: Starting pitchers Shane McClanahan (first round) and Taj Bradley (fifth round) were part of the same 2018 draft class, and that year's haul also included Matthew Liberatore (first round) and Joe Ryan (seventh round), who were traded in deals to acquire Randy Arozarena and Nelson Cruz.
23. Athletics

40-Man Roster: 12
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Lawrence Butler
2. RP Mason Miller
3. 1B Tyler Soderstrom
4. SS Jacob Wilson
5. 2B Zack Gelof
The Rest: 1B/OF Seth Brown, OF Denzel Clarke, 3B Brett Harris, LHP Hogan Harris, RHP Grant Holman, 2B Max Muncy, IF Max Schuemann
Quick Thoughts: The Athletics selected Max Muncy (No. 25), Zack Gelof (No. 60) and Mason Miller (No. 97) with their top three selections in the 2021 draft. They also drafted Denzel Clarke, Brett Harris and Grant Holman that year, and they are members of the 40-man roster.
22. Colorado Rockies

40-Man Roster: 22
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. SS Ezequiel Tovar
2. OF Brenton Doyle
3. 3B Ryan McMahon
4. LHP Kyle Freeland
5. 1B Michael Toglia
The Rest: IF Adael Amador, OF Jordan Beck, RHP Jake Bird, OF Sean Bouchard, RHP Angel Chivilli, RHP Chase Dollander, RHP Ryan Feltner, OF Yanquiel Fernandez, LHP Lucas Gilbreath, C Hunter Goodman, RHP Seth Halvorsen, RHP Jaden Hill, LHP Evan Justice, RHP Juan Mejia, C Drew Romo, RHP Antonio Senzatela, OF Zac Veen
Quick Thoughts: The Rockies have historically had a tough time developing pitching talent, but they do have one of the top pitching prospects in baseball right now in Chase Dollander, who could give them a nice boost in these rankings in the not-too-distant future now he's in the big leagues.
21. Arizona Diamondbacks

40-Man Roster: 20
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Corbin Carroll
2. RHP Brandon Pfaadt
3. RHP Justin Martínez
4. SS Geraldo Perdomo
5. OF Jake McCarthy
The Rest: IF Blaze Alexander, OF Jorge Barrosa, C Adrian Del Castillo, RHP Yilber Díaz, RHP Joe Elbis, RHP Kevin Ginkel, LHP Tommy Henry, C José Herrera, RHP Drey Jameson, RHP Bryce Jarvis, SS Jordan Lawlar, RHP Ryne Nelson, 1B/OF Pavin Smith, 2B Tim Tawa, OF Alek Thomas, LHP Andrew Saalfrank (60-day IL), LHP Blake Walston (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The D-backs did a nice job taking care of their homegrown standouts this offseason, signing Brandon Pfaadt (5/$45M), Justin Martínez (5/$18M) and Geraldo Perdomo (4/$45M) to long-term extensions. That to go along with the eight-year, $111 million deal already on the books for Corbin Carroll.
20. Detroit Tigers

40-Man Roster: 18
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. LHP Tarik Skubal
2. OF Riley Greene
3. OF Kerry Carpenter
4. 1B/2B Colt Keith
5. RHP Jackson Jobe
The Rest: RHP Beau Brieske, C Dillon Dingler, RHP Jason Foley, LHP Brant Hurter, 3B Jace Jung, IF/OF Ryan Kreidler, RHP Matt Manning, RHP Tyler Mattison, RHP Casey Mize, RHP Keider Montero, OF Wenceel Pérez, DH Spencer Torkelson, RHP Will Vest, OF Parker Meadows (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Tigers found multiple impact MLB contributors with their 2018 (Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize, Parker Meadows), 2019 (Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, Beau Brieske) and 2020 (Colt Keith, Spencer Torkelson, Dillon Dingler) draft classes.
19. San Francisco Giants

40-Man Roster: 20
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. RHP Logan Webb
2. C Patrick Bailey
3. OF Heliot Ramos
4. RHP Ryan Walker
5. IF Tyler Fitzgerald
The Rest: RHP Hayden Birdsong, RHP Mason Black, RHP Camilo Doval, LHP Kyle Harrison, RHP Sean Hjelle, IF/OF Marco Luciano, OF Luis Matos, OF Grant McCray, RHP Trevor McDonald, OF Wade Meckler, RHP Tyler Rogers, RHP Randy Rodriguez, RHP Landen Roupp, IF Casey Schmitt, RHP Keaton Winn
Quick Thoughts: The Giants have a rich history of developing pitching talent, with guys such as Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner making up the core of their three World Series titles during the 2010s. They again have a homegrown ace in 2014 fourth-round pick Logan Webb, and he is locked up through 2028 on a five-year, $90 million deal.
18. Toronto Blue Jays

40-Man Roster: 10
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
2. SS Bo Bichette
3. C Alejandro Kirk
4. OF Alan Roden
5. IF/OF Davis Schneider
The Rest: IF/OF Addison Barger, OF Steward Berroa, LHP Mason Fluharty, IF Leo Jiménez, IF Orelvis Martinez, RHP Alek Manoah (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Blue Jays don't have the quantity of some of the teams ranked below them, but their system has produced a legitimate superstar in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and two other impact bats in Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk to prop up their spot.
17. Milwaukee Brewers

40-Man Roster: 11
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Jackson Chourio
2. 2B Brice Turang
3. OF Garrett Mitchell
4. OF Sal Frelick
5. RHP Brandon Woodruff
The Rest: LHP Aaron Ashby, 1B Tyler Black, RHP Logan Henderson, C Jeferson Quero, RHP Carlos Rodríguez, RHP Abner Uribe
Quick Thoughts: The Brewers have found some quality bats in the first round of their recent draft classes, with Brice Turang (No. 21 in 2018), Garrett Mitchell (No. 20 in 2020) and Sal Frelick (No. 15 in 2021) all developing into everyday players. They also signed Jackson Chourio as part of their 2021 international class, so that four-year stretch was crucial in building their current lineup.
16. Philadelphia Phillies

40-Man Roster: 9
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. RHP Aaron Nola
2. 3B Alec Bohm
3. LHP Ranger Suárez
4. 2B Bryson Stott
5. RHP Orion Kerkering
The Rest: RHP Mick Abel, RHP Jean Cabrera, C Rafael Marchán, OF Johan Rojas
Quick Thoughts: The Phillies' list of homegrown players is a relatively short one, but Aaron Nola (3.7), Alec Bohm (3.0), Ranger Suárez (2.7) and Bryson Stott (2.5) combined for an impressive 11.9 WAR last season and were four key contributors on a 95-win team.
15. Chicago Cubs

40-Man Roster: 10
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Ian Happ
2. LHP Justin Steele
3. 2B Nico Hoerner
4. RHP Porter Hodge
5. 3B Matt Shaw
The Rest: C Miguel Amaya, RHP Javier Assad, LHP Luke Little, RHP Ethan Roberts, LHP Jordan Wicks
Quick Thoughts: Ian Happ (No. 9 in 2015), Nico Hoerner (No. 24 in 2018) and Matt Shaw (No. 13 in 2023) were all drafted as polished college bats, and they all moved quickly through the minors to become everyday players. That has often been the Cubs' strategy, going back to drafting Javier Báez, Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber while building their World Series roster.
14. Los Angeles Angels

40-Man Roster: 17
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Mike Trout
2. SS Zach Neto
3. OF Taylor Ward
4. RHP José Soriano
5. 1B Nolan Schanuel
The Rest: OF Jo Adell, RHP Sam Bachman, RHP Caden Dana, RHP Michael Darrell-Hicks, LHP Jack Dashwood, LHP Reid Detmers, RHP Ryan Johnson, RHP Ben Joyce, RHP Jack Kochanowicz, RHP Victor Mederos, IF/OF Kyren Paris, RHP Chase Silseth
Quick Thoughts: The Angels have one of the most successful homegrown stars in MLB history, with Mike Trout racking up 85.9 WAR over 15 seasons in the majors since he was taken No. 25 overall in the 2009 draft. Can he stay healthy for a full season after playing just 29 games during another injury-plagued campaign in 2024?
13. New York Mets

40-Man Roster: 12
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. 1B Pete Alonso
2. OF Brandon Nimmo
3. 3B Mark Vientos
4. C Francisco Alvarez
5. LHP David Peterson
The Rest: IF Brett Baty, RHP José Buttó, IF Ronny Mauricio, IF/OF Jeff McNeil, RHP Tylor Megill, RHP Dedniel Núñez, C Hayden Senger, RHP Christian Scott (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Mets have given long-term deals to homegrown hitters Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil, and there is a case to be made that Francisco Alvarez and Mark Vientos could be playing their way toward extensions of their own. They have been less successful on the pitching side of things, though David Peterson broke through last year with a 2.90 ERA in 121 innings.
12. St. Louis Cardinals

40-Man Roster: 19
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. SS Masyn Winn
2. RHP Ryan Helsley
3. IF/OF Brendan Donovan
4. OF Lars Nootbaar
5. DH Alec Burleson
The Rest: 1B Luken Baker, IF Nolan Gorman, RHP Gordon Graceffo, RHP Tink Hence, C Iván Herrera, OF Matt Koperniak, RHP Kyle Leahy, RHP Ryan Loutos, RHP Michael McGreevy, C Pedro Pagés, RHP Andre Pallante, RHP Chris Roycroft, OF Victor Scott II, RF Jordan Walker, LHP Zack Thompson (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Cardinals selected Nolan Gorman (first round), Luken Baker (second round), Brendan Donovan (seventh round), Lars Nootbaar (eighth round) and Kyle Leahy (17th round) as part of their 2018 draft class, and they have long done a great job finding diamonds on the rough after Day 1 of the draft.
11. Pittsburgh Pirates

40-Man Roster: 15
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. RHP Paul Skenes
2. RHP Mitch Keller
3. DH Andrew McCutchen
4. 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes
5. 2B Nick Gonzales
The Rest: RHP Braxton Ashcraft, IF/OF Ji Hwan Bae, RHP Mike Burrows, SS Tsung-Che Cheng, C/OF Henry Davis, IF/OF Adam Frazier, RHP Thomas Harrington, RHP Carmen Mlodzinski, RHP Hunter Stratton, IF Jared Triolo, RHP Jared Jones (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Pirates are steadily assembling an elite homegrown rotation, with Paul Skenes, Mitch Keller and Jared Jones anchoring the starting staff in 2024, while Bubba Chandler, Thomas Harrington and Braxton Ashcraft are knocking on the door in 2025. On the hitting side, Nick Gonzales (No. 7 in 2020), Henry Davis (No. 1 in 2021) and Termarr Johnson (No. 4 in 2022) have not yet panned out as top-10 picks in their respective classes.
10. Kansas City Royals

40-Man Roster: 19
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. SS Bobby Witt Jr.
2. C Salvador Perez
3. 1B Vinnie Pasquantino

Quick Thoughts: The Royals found a face of the franchise when they selected Bobby Witt Jr. with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 draft, while also adding Alec Marsh (second round), Michael Massey (fourth round) and Vinnie Pasquantino (11th round) as part of that same class.
9. Houston Astros

40-Man Roster: 19
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. 2B/OF Jose Altuve
2. LHP Framber Valdez
3. RHP Hunter Brown
4. SS Jeremy Peña
5. RHP Ronel Blanco
The Rest: RHP Bryan Abreu, RHP Spencer Arrighetti, IF/OF Zach Dezenzo, RHP Shawn Dubin, LHP Colton Gordon, RHP Ryan Gusto, RHP Cristian Javier, OF Pedro León, OF Chas McCormick, RHP Lance McCullers Jr., OF Jake Meyers, C César Salazar, IF Shay Whitcomb, RHP Forrest Whitley, RHP J.P. France (60-day IL), RHP Luis García (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: Another homegrown star departed for greener pastures when Alex Bregman signed with the Red Sox this offseason, but the Astros still have an impressive collection of talent they have developed. Hunter Brown and Spencer Arrighetti are the latest arms to emerge from a system that has consistently churned out impact pitching talent.
8. Minnesota Twins

40-Man Roster: 20
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Byron Buxton
2. 3B Royce Lewis
3. RHP Bailey Ober
4. OF Matt Wallner
5. OF Trevor Larnach
The Rest: RHP Travis Adams, RHP Matt Canterino, RHP David Festa, LHP Kody Funderburk, RHP Griffin Jax, C Ryan Jeffers, IF Edouard Julien, OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr., IF Brooks Lee, RHP Zebby Matthews, 3B José Miranda, RHP Marco Raya, OF Emmanuel Rodriguez, RHP Cole Sands, RHP Louie Varland
Quick Thoughts: If Royce Lewis and Byron Buxton could stay healthy, the Twins would rank several spots higher, as both players have All-Star talent when they are on the field. The 2018 (Trevor Larnach, Ryan Jeffers, Cole Sands) and 2019 (Matt Wallner, Edouard Julien, Louis Varland) draft classes both yielded an impressive collection of MLB talent.
7. New York Yankees

40-Man Roster: 12
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Aaron Judge
2. SS Anthony Volpe
3. C Austin Wells
4. RHP Clarke Schmidt
5. OF Jasson Domínguez
The Rest: IF Oswaldo Cabrera, RHP Yoendrys Gómez, IF Oswald Peraza, OF Everson Pereira, DH Ben Rice, C/3B/OF Jesús Rodriguez, RHP Will Warren
Quick Thoughts: The Yankees check in at No. 7 in the rankings on the strength of the position-player trio of Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells, while Jasson Dominguez has a chance to join that group this season with a long runway to claim the everyday left field job. On the pitching side, Clarke Schmidt has turned out to be a great gamble for the Yankees after he was taken No. 16 overall in 2017, just a few months after undergoing Tommy John surgery at South Carolina.
6. Cincinnati Reds

40-Man Roster: 18
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. SS Elly De La Cruz
2. RHP Hunter Greene
3. 2B Matt McLain
4. LHP Nick Lodolo
5. OF TJ Friedl
The Rest: LHP Andrew Abbott, RHP Graham Ashcraft, IF Tyler Callihan, RHP Alexis Díaz, OF Blake Dunn, OF Rece Hinds, OF Jacob Hurtubise, RHP Rhett Lowder, RHP Luis Mey, RHP Lyon Richardson, RHP Tony Santillan, RHP Carson Spiers, C Tyler Stephenson, RHP Julian Aguiar (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Reds selected Hunter Greene (No. 2 in 2017) and Nick Lodolo (No. 7 in 2019) with the first pick in their respective draft classes, and in between they signed Elly De La Cruz for just $65,000 as part of the 2018 international class. The 2021 draft class is also shaping up to be a nice win for the organization, with Matt McLain (first round) and Andrew Abbott (second round) at the top, and a couple late-round finds in Julian Aguiar (12th round) and Blake Dunn (15th round).
5. Boston Red Sox

40-Man Roster: 12
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Jarren Duran
2. 3B Rafael Devers
3. 1B Triston Casas
4. RHP Tanner Houck
5. 2B Kristian Campbell
The Rest: RHP Brayan Bello, RHP Kutter Crawford, RHP Hunter Dobbins, OF Jhostynxon Garcia, RHP Luis Guerrero, RHP Luis Perales, OF Ceddanne Rafaela
Quick Thoughts: The Red Sox have not always had the best luck developing pitching talent, but the position-player pipeline is alive and well with Kristian Campbell, Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer all homegrown top prospects on the cusp of becoming impact contributors. Meanwhile, Triston Casas (first round) and Jarren Duran (seventh round) were part of the same draft class in 2018.
4. Seattle Mariners

40-Man Roster: 9
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Julio Rodríguez
2. RHP Logan Gilbert
3. C Cal Raleigh
4. RHP George Kirby
5. RHP Bryce Miller
The Rest: RHP Emerson Hancock, 1B Tyler Locklear, RHP Troy Taylor, RHP Bryan Woo
Quick Thoughts: The Mariners are the ultimate example of quality over quantity in this exercise, as they are one of only four teams with fewer than 10 homegrown players on their 40-man roster, but the nine guys they do have include four starting pitchers from the best rotation in baseball, a 30-homer catcher who just won a Platinum Glove and a five-tool center fielder with the potential to be one of the faces of baseball for the next decade.
3. Atlanta Braves

40-Man Roster: 14
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. OF Ronald Acuña Jr.
2. 3B Austin Riley
3. SP Spencer Strider
4. OF Michael Harris II
5. 2B Ozzie Albies
The Rest: SS Nacho Alvarez Jr., C Drake Baldwin, LHP Dylan Dodd, RHP Bryce Elder, RHP Daysbel Hernández, RHP Rolddy Muñoz, RHP Spencer Schwellenbach, RHP AJ Smith-Shawver, RHP Hurston Waldrep
Quick Thoughts: The Braves' collection of homegrown talent will look a lot better once Ronald Acuña Jr. is patrolling right field and Spencer Strider is firing off 100-mph fastballs on the mound. Even with those two stars sidelined, they still have three All-Star-caliber hitters in Austin Riley, Michael Harris II and Ozzie Albies, as well as a starting pitcher on the rise in Spencer Schwellenbach and a rookie catcher in Drake Baldwin.
2. Baltimore Orioles

40-Man Roster: 13
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. SS Gunnar Henderson
2. C Adley Rutschman
3. OF Cedric Mullins
4. IF Jordan Westburg
5. RHP Grayson Rodriguez
The Rest: LHP Keegan Akin, OF Colton Cowser, OF Heston Kjerstad, IF Jackson Holliday, 3B Coby Mayo, 1B Ryan Mountcastle, RHP Kade Strowd, RHP Brandon Young
Quick Thoughts: The Orioles have gone from laughing stock to legitimate contenders thanks to their ability to draft and develop position-player talent, and the potential is there for their homegrown offensive core to be even more impactful if Jackson Holliday realizes his potential and Coby Mayo and Heston Kjerstad break through as MLB regulars. The pitching side of things is lacking relative to those bats, but Grayson Rodriguez has ace-caliber upside if he can stay healthy.
1. Cleveland Guardians

40-Man Roster: 24
Top 5 Homegrown Players
1. 3B José Ramírez
2. OF Steven Kwan
3. RHP Tanner Bibee
4. RHP Shane Bieber
5. RHP Gavin Williams
The Rest: RHP Franco Aleman, LHP Logan Allen, OF Will Brennan, RHP Nick Enright, RHP Daniel Espino, RHP Hunter Gaddis, OF Petey Halpin, LHP Tim Herrin, OF Nolan Jones, IF/OF Angel Martínez, RHP Triston McKenzie, C Bo Naylor, LHP Doug Nikhazy, 1B/OF Jhonkensy Noel, SS Brayan Rocchio, OF Johnathan Rodriguez, IF/OF Daniel Schneemann, RHP Cade Smith, RHP Andrew Walters, LHP Sam Hentges (60-day IL)
Quick Thoughts: The Guardians lead all teams with 24 homegrown players on their 40-man roster, and that group includes their two best position players (José Ramírez and Steven Kwan) and their two best starters (Tanner Bibee and Gavin Williams), with Shane Bieber also eventually rejoining the mix. They are able to contend as a small-market club thanks in large part to their ability to develop their own in-house talent into impact contributors.
