The St. Louis Blues just keep winning.

The Blues reeled off their 11th consecutive win on Thursday to leap into the top wild-card spot in the Western Conference over the Minnesota Wild.

St. Louis' run put Minnesota in a mildly vulnerable spot in the race for the second wild-card spot.

Minnesota has a five-point edge on the Calgary Flames, but Calgary owns a game-in-hand. The Flames closed the gap with a Thursday win over the Anaheim Ducks.

The Eastern Conference wild-card race is starting to settle a bit. The Montreal Canadiens jumped over the 80-point mark on Thursday to create a two-point gap over the New York Rangers for the last East playoff spot.

Eastern Conference

NHL: APR 03 Bruins at Canadiens

Atlantic Division

  1. Toronto - 96
  2. Tampa Bay - 93
  3. Florida - 92

Metropolitan Division

  1. Washington - 105
  2. Carolina - 96
  3. New Jersey - 87

Wild-Card Race

  1. Ottawa - 86
  2. Montreal - 81
  3. New York Rangers - 79
  4. Columbus - 77
  5. Detroit - 75
  6. New York Islanders - 74

Montreal's win over the Boston Bruins created a small lead going into the weekend for the Canadiens.

The Canadiens are the only team currently in a playoff spot under threat in the East now that Ottawa is up to 86 points.

Ottawa pulled off an impressive home win without Brady Tkachuk against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

The loss kept Tampa Bay three points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Atlantic Division.

The Florida Panthers, despite being third in the Atlantic, have the lowest odds of any Eastern Conference team to win the Stanley Cup at +650 over at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Washington Capitals have the second-best odds among East teams at +1100. The Caps' full focus right now is on Alex Ovechkin breaking Wayne Gretzky's scoring record. Washington plays Chicago on Friday and the Islanders on Sunday.

The Islanders, Red Wings and Blue Jackets' wild-card hunts could be in peril this weekend. The Islanders face Minnesota and Washington, Detroit takes on Carolina and Florida and the Blue Jackets visit Toronto.

Western Conference

Pittsbrugh Penguins v St Louis Blues

Central Division

  1. Winnipeg - 108
  2. Dallas - 104
  3. Colorado - 98

Pacific Division

  1. Vegas - 98
  2. Los Angeles - 95
  3. Edmonton - 93

Wild-Card Race

  1. St. Louis - 91
  2. Minnesota - 89
  3. Calgary - 84
  4. Vancouver - 81
  5. Utah - 80

St. Louis continued its incredible winning run on Thursday to get over the 90-point mark.

It's no longer a question of whether the Blues will make the playoffs, but if they can hold on to the top wild-card spot in the West.

Minnesota is two points back of St. Louis going into its Friday night clash with the Islanders.

Calgary, Vancouver and Utah are all technically still alive, but they need a miracle to break their ways to leapfrog Minnesota. Calgary has the most realistic chance because of its five-point deficit and game-in-hand, but it still must be near-perfect down the closing stretch.

The divisional races have gotten a bit tighter in the last week. The Pacific Division could go down to the final day of the regular season. Saturday's Edmonton-Los Angeles game will play a massive role in deciding the order of the top three teams.

Winnipeg still holds a four-point edge on Dallas. The Jets and Stars play once more on April 10 in Dallas. A Stars win might make things interesting in the final few games.

One thing is clear: The Western Conference playoffs are going to be incredibly tight.

Dallas (+600), Colorado (+800), Edmonton (+900) and Vegas (+1100) have four of the six lowest odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Winnipeg, the best team in the West, sits at +1200 likely because its failed to get the job done in the postseason in recent years compared to the other challengers.
