NHL Draft Lottery 2025 Date, Odds, Projected Order, Latest Regular-Season Standings

A long offseason is in store for NHL teams that have missed the playoffs and their fans. But there's still something left to look forward to this spring.
Sometime in May, ahead of the NHL draft on Friday, June 27 (Round 1) and Saturday, June 28 (Rounds 2–7) in Los Angeles, the NHL draft lottery will determine which of the 16 teams that miss this year's playoffs will be awarded the No. 1 pick in the draft.
That would mean the chance to draft defenseman Matthew Schaefer, widely regarded as the best available prospect at his position, or perhaps Boston College center James Hagens for forward-needy teams.
There is still some hockey to be played in the 2024–25 season, so the NHL draft lottery odds aren't set in stone. But let's take a look at how they shake out as of Wednesday morning.
