Backstage WWE and AEW Rumors on Mariah May, Omos and Roxanne Perez

Mariah May had a banner year in 2024, becoming one of the most prominently featured women in all of professional wrestling.
The All Elite Wrestling star is also in a contract year and about to become one of the most sought-after free agents in the business.
What is the latest update on May and her contractual situation?
Find out with this collection of insider reports that also features an update on Omos and the latest on Roxanne Perez and her main roster run in WWE.
Latest on Mariah May's Contractual Situation

Mariah May was one of the breakout stars in professional wrestling in 2024, thanks to one of the best and most thorough storylines in AEW history with "Timeless" Toni Storm.
May shined, showcasing her ability to mesh character with in-ring skills, culminating with a Match of the Year candidate against Storm at Revolution in their Hollywood Ending match.
She is also in a contract year, per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select:
"Fightful Select had recently reported that May is in her contract year, and expected to get interest from virtually anywhere she could want to go. Wrestling Observer had noted that people close to her believe WWE has always been the goal, and people in AEW expected her to go to WWE. While there are some that believe that, Fightful has spoken to sources since the start of this being reported who claim she’s being wise and maximizing her leverage and negotiating power."
He added: "The biggest surprise among those that we spoke with was the possibility that Mariah May was only on a deal of this length."
Regardless of whether WWE was always her target or she's using that as a negotiation tactic, May is set to be rewarded for her work with a deal that will make her one of the highest-paid wrestlers in any women's division, something she has earned based on what she accomplished with Storm.
If WWE does take the 26-year-old, it will be interesting to see how she is introduced, which competitors she is programmed against initially and if she finds the immediate success she did in AEW.
Update on Omos

Omos remains out of action and off of WWE television, and Sapp had an update for Fightful Select.
"When asking for an update on Omos, Fighful Select was told that Omos wasn't injured, and is ready to work and perform," he wrote. "However, we were told that he hadn't been brought up in creative discussions."
Sapp added: "The one contact we spoke to in Noah said that Omos made a good impression there and they'd imagine the company would be happy to have him back in the future."
The misuse of the big man continues to be a mystery. It is readily apparent that the current regime in WWE is not sold on the Nigerian and does not have any significant plans for him.
If that is the case, why not utilize Omos in NXT, where he could continue to fine-tune his in-ring abilities rather than working international shows and going a long time without building on that momentum?
Does the 30-year-old have to be a main event star? Not if Triple H doesn't see him as one, but he can definitely be a special attraction who pops up for high-profile matchups here and there.
Omos remains one star the current WWE regime has bungled significantly.
When Will Roxanne Perez Be on the Main Roster?

Roxanne Perez made a positive impression earlier this year with her main roster appearances, including finishing as the runner-up to Charlotte Flair in the women's Royal Rumble match.
A feud with Bayley appeared to be dropped suddenly, though, and The Prodigy was left off the WrestleMania card, settling for a pre-show appearance at NXT Stand & Deliver.
WrestleVotes reported on the WrestleBinge Q&A that Perez will be on the main roster post-WrestleMania and is in line for a push, even stating, "she's got a hell of a career lined up for her."
One of the best young wrestlers in the world, the 23-year-old has repeatedly proved herself during her time in NXT and been responsible for some of the best women's matches in WWE as a whole, including a classic with Lyra Valkyria at last year's Stand & Deliver.
Could they be poised to run that rivalry back or will Perez set her sights higher, seeking either of the women's world titles? Time will tell, but post-WrestleMania appears to be a time of significant growth for The Prodigy.
