Best Potential WWE WrestleMania 42 Matches to Main-Event in New Orleans

The dust has barely settled following another explosive, unforgettable WrestleMania and the attention of fans and WWE alike have turned towards next year's event in New Orleans and what the top matches on that card may look like.
What will are the best options for marquee match-ups, who should be involved, and why?
Find out with this preview.
The Rock vs. Roman Reigns

WWE has been trying to get The Rock vs. Roman Reigns into the ring since 2015, when The Great One came to The Big Dog's aid at the conclusion of the Royal Rumble.
A decade later and it still has not happened, with the latest and best chance for it to take place being in 2024, when the fans rejected that match in favor of Cody Rhodes finishing his story.
Assuming WWE still wants to produce Rock vs. Reigns, there is no better time than 2026 in New Orleans, especially with the latter expressing his desire to retire from the squared circle within the next five years.
Creatively, leaning on every manner in which The Final Boss has undermined The Tribal Chief since the night after WrestleMania 40 is the best route to take, especially considering the downward spiral it sent Reigns on, leaving him with no tribe backing him up.
Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock

The Rock pursued Cody Rhodes and the WWE Championship from the moment he won it, warning him never to break his heart again. When The American Nightmare denied The Final Boss his soul, Rock simply recruited John Cena, a moment in time that ultimately led to the downfall off Rhodes as champion.
With the expectation that Rhodes will once again hold that title, a match between him and Rock, in which The Great One takes it upon himself to take the title from the champion, is a marquee match on any WWE premium live event but most definitely WrestleMania.
Billing it as "the battle for the heart and soul of WWE" only heightens the significance of it and makes it that much more desirable for fans. Most importantly, it allows Rhodes to (potentially) finally put The Final Boss, The Bloodline, and all loose ends from that particular chapter of his career behind him.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins

No match has the story depth of Reigns vs. Rollins. It is a rivalry WWE has been careful not to overexpose, giving fans bits and pieces without ever delivering that high profile, one-on-one encounter on the grand stage.
With or without a championship attached, it is a match that can easily headline one night of WrestleMania, thanks in large part to the story that accompanies it.
Rollins betrayed Reigns, leaving him traumatized and unable to move past that chapter of his life. We have seen it countless times, where The Tribal Chief is on a roll and ready to secure a win, only to have Rollins pop up and provide the distraction that derails him in a match or on the mic.
The only way for Reigns to ever get past it is for him to we square off with Rollins and prove that he can handle the complex emotions of such a match-up without letting them cost him a victory.
That is a WrestleMania story and match-up and gives fans who have invested in their story since their arrival in 2012 the opportunity to see it through on the biggest stage imaginable.
