England vs. Australia: Winners and Losers from 3rd ODI

The third one-day international between England and Australia ended in a comfortable win by 93 runs for the hosts at Trent Bridge, England, although the visitors lead the series 2-1.
England made 300 batting first, then they were able to restrict the away side to 207 all out as their bowlers made great inroads and the fielding was of a good standard.
It is a victory that will give the home side great hope as they look to recover, while Australia might be a little concerned at their change in fortunes.
Before the fourth ODI on Friday, let’s reflect on this game and pick out some winners and losers.
Winner: James Taylor

England batsman James Taylor has had good starts in recent games but failed to kick on and get the big score he has so desired.
On Tuesday, he did just that as he made 101 from 114 balls at three, holding the innings together and helping England past 300.
It may not have been filled with aggressive and flamboyant shots, but it was key in helping the hosts take victory.
Loser: Joe Burns

Australia opener Joe Burns looks promising in international cricket, but on Tuesday, he got bogged down as he made nine runs from 18 balls.
He was then caught by Eoin Morgan off Steven Finn to complete a difficult innings, albeit in difficult conditions that were very helpful for bowling.
Winner: Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali failed with the bat as he made just one run, but with the ball he redeemed himself as he took three for 32 from 10 overs.
He got the crucial wickets of George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell, as well as the hard-hitting Mitchell Starc, and showed he has plenty to offer with the ball when on song.
Loser: Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh endured a difficult game with bat and ball, and it started as he went for 28 in five wicketless overs.
Then he could only make 13 from 26 deliveries with the bat as Australia’s reply crumbled in the face of England pressure, and he was caught by Chris Woakes off Liam Plunkett.
Winner: Jason Roy

Another England batsman to impress was Jason Roy, who continued his good recent run opening the batting with 63 from 45 deliveries.
While he again failed to reach a century, Roy gave the innings some early momentum and gave Australia enormous problems with the new ball.
Loser: James Pattinson

James Pattinson took the new ball in his first game of the tour, yet he failed to get things under control as he conceded 36 runs in six overs.
Pattinson failed to take a wicket and will surely be disappointed. However, after his injury problems, he must be delighted just to be back in international cricket and will surely come again.
