This weekend we are treated to a rematch that has a lot of interest surrounding it. It is really a toss up fight and one that for me at least is very hard to pick.

It should be a hard-fought, competitive match that will see the winner triumph by a slim margin. That doesn’t mean that I can't pick a winner and say that he will win for sure as that is what I am doing here.

Paul Williams is a fighter that looks so good at times, yet at others he looks like a mediocre fighter that is severely over-hyped.

If he shows up as the latter on Saturday I will be very wrong about this outcome. He should come out with something to prove, and the chance to win a title in a third weight class should motivate him.

This should be a close fight, but these are the 10 reasons that Williams can not lose. Just because I think these are the reasons he will win doesn't mean that he is more skilled in the areas.

These fighters are so close in everything that I wouldn't hesitate to say that Martinez is faster but that Williams may win because of his hand speed.

At any rate these are my 10 reasons Williams will win, and there are two cool videos attached with the first two slides about Williams.

#10: Style

Williams has one of the most awkward styles in boxing. He is a tall, lean fighter but volume punches and fights on the inside nonstop.

He usually has a big reach advantage over his opponent but mixes it up on the inside and gets the better of it. He is just a better inside fighter than outside boxer which should help him against Martinez.

Martinez is not an inside fighter and likes to be a cutie and fight from the outside darting in and out. He won't be able to do that against Williams which puts him at a big disadvantage.

#9: Heart

Williams has showed time and time again that he has huge heart in the ring. In his win over Walter Dario Matthysse he was hurt badly but came back to knock him out in Round 10.

When he won the title he was in an absolute war with Antonio Margarito, and he fought a hard 12 rounds for the first time in his career in that fight.

There is also the first Martinez fight where he was put on the canvas hard but recovered and came back to take the win in an absolute war.

He has a big heart and a will to win which he has shown time and again.

#8: Chin

Chin and heart go hand in hand, so we will now talk about his chin. He went down somewhat heavily against Martinez the first time they fought but got back up and wasn’t close to going down again.

As far as I know this was the first time he was down in a fight, and he came back well from it. Martinez has deceiving power and his chin handled it well.

He has fought some big hitters in Walter Matthysse and Antonio Margartio and never really was hurt, outside of a few moments in the Matthysse fight.

He shouldn’t have to worry about going down in this fight, as he should be a little more controlled in the ring this time.

#7: Doesn't Cut Easily

This is something that will rarely find itself on a list of why a fighter will win a fight—but it is something that can always make a fighter lose.

The reason it is here is that Martinez has a slashing style of cuts, and if you saw the Kelly Pavlik fight you already know that he can cut a fighter.

It is very hard to stop these cuts because he will target them once they are there, and that slashing punching style opens them right back up.

The only times I recall Williams being cut was from a head-butt when he fought Verno Phillips and in the last Martinez fight. He will probably change what he does so he can avoid those slashing punches more often.

It doesn’t matter how good your game plan is—once you get cut it has to change.

#6: Preparation

This goes for both fighters, but the fact that he actually trained for Martinez this time is going to help him fight a better fight.

He showed weakness in the first fight that he shouldn’t show this time. He was training to fight a big, slow, hard-hitting middleweight but got a small, fast, junior middleweight.

He was training for a totally different style and went into the ring fighting someone totally different. The full training camp getting ready for Martinez should make a big difference.

#5: Speed

In basic speed terms Martinez is faster and I think that is pretty clear, but Williams has a different kind of speed. He throws a ton of punches, and when he gets into a rhythm his hands just go and go.

When he gets his hands going he will throw a lot of punches before the other fighter can get one off. If he gets into a rhythm he can overwhelm Martinez and never let him get his own punches off.

#4: He Has Something To Prove

His only career loss was to Carlos Quintana who he came back to destroy via TKO in Round 1. He had a chip on his shoulder and wanted it off quickly, as he came back in a few months to fight him again.

The guy doesn’t like to lose or have people doubting that he won the fight against Martinez. He is going to come out to impress and put together a performance that can't be questioned.

He may not seem like it because of his laid back style, but he is a pitbull in the ring

#3: Chance to Win a Title In Third Weight Class

This, like the last one, is not a skill but rather another effect of motivation. Few fighters win a title in one weight class, let alone three weight classes.

It would give him titles from 147 to 160 which is a very impressive feat. It would also put him in line to pick who he wants to fight at the middleweight limit.

If he becomes the man, his career gets a little bit easier.

#2: Possible Fights With Manny Pacquiao Or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

If he wins the title he will be the legitimate middleweight champion of the world which will add to his appeal greatly. He has a hard time finding fights, but this would make it much easier.

Someone like Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. would probably have interest in making him come back down to 147 or 154 and fighting him.

Pacquiao would probably try to get it to a weight where he can fight for the middleweight title and lay claim to a title in a ninth division.

Mayweather would want to fight at welterweight, but he would be able to say he beat the legitimate middleweight champion.

And it would give Williams the chance to say he beat an all time great.

#1: Williams Is The Better Fighter

This picture sums up how close of a fight this is.
This picture sums up how close of a fight this is.

Their last fight in my opinion was the best Martinez against not the best Williams—and Williams still won. If I am right and that is the case, Williams with a full camp to prepare should win again.

Martinez gets the nod now for being the better of the two, but I am not ready to give it to him. He looked great against Pavlik, and Williams looked lackluster for four rounds against Kermit Cintron.

Williams may have turned it on and not lost another round in the fight as we have seen him do before. Williams is the better fighter of the two, and since I believe that there is no way I can pick against him.
