GoDaddy.com Bowl: 10 Reasons To Watch That Don't Involve Danica Patrick

GoDaddy.com Bowl: Most of you who are familiar with GoDaddy.com know about it because the site's TV ads feature hot women, including NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.

In fact, she will be the guest speaker at the GoDaddy.com Bowl Mayor's Luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

But as nice as Patrick might be to look at, there's an actual football game taking place, fellas.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will take on the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Jan. 6 in Mobile, Ala.

Though the game might not seem all that appealing, there are some reasons why you should watch it.

In fact, let's take a look at the top 10.

The RedHawks offense has been about as exciting as vanilla ice cream this season.

But Armand Robinson is the team's saving grace.

The senior wide receiver has 206 career receptions for 2,469 yards and 15 career touchdowns, and he's exploded in 2010.

Robinson has racked up 90 catches for 981 yards and six touchdowns.

He has three 100-yard receiving games and is coming off a 14-catch, 176-yard performance against Northern Illinois.

On an offense that scores less than three touchdowns per game, he's the main player you'll want to watch.

Though the GoDaddy.com Bowl, formerly the GMAC Bowl, has wound up being a blowout pretty often, it's also featured a ton of points.

If you like seeing shootouts, recent history shows there's better than a 50 percent chance of that happening.

Middle Tennessee defensive end Jamari Lattimore is one of college football's top defensive players no one knows about.

The 231-pound senior—yes, he's that light—has racked up 64 tackles (14 for loss) and a school-record-tying 11.5 sacks on the season.

Lattimore also has two blocked kicks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

He ranks fifth in the nation in sacks and is just one sack away from setting the Middle Tennessee and Sun Belt Conference record for sacks in a season.

Lattimore is the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Like seeing a turnover that completely shifts the momentum of the game?

Then this is the bowl for you.

Middle Tennessee has thrown the third most interceptions (20) in all of college football this season, trailing only Miami (not of Ohio) and Buffalo.

Miami (OH), on the other hand, ranks 11th in the nation with 17 defensive interceptions on the season.

It wouldn't be a shock to see this game come down to a late interception by the RedHawks.

With a name like Dwight Dasher, you would naturally assume he's a speedster.

You'd be right.

The Middle Tennessee quarterback has rushed for nearly 500 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

The problem is that Dasher's thrown more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (six) in 2010.

He does have the potential for a huge game, though.

In last year's New Orleans Bowl, Dasher threw two touchdowns, ran for two more scores and set the record for most rushing yards in a bowl game with 201.

Which Dwight Dasher will show up at the GoDaddy.com Bowl?

On the season, Miami (OH) has had six games decided by seven points or fewer.

Middle Tennessee is much the same.

The Blue Raiders have had five games decided by a touchdown or less and have won two games by just one point.

Between these two schools, six of their last eight games have been decided by six points or fewer.

If history is any indication, the GoDaddy.com Bowl should come down to the wire.

Miami (OH) will be starting Austin Boucher at quarterback in this game, and it will be just the fourth start for the redshirt freshman.

He is undefeated since taking over as the team's starter in mid-November, he's completed 64.2 percent of his passes and he's thrown four touchdowns to just one interception.

Boucher is also coming off a big game against Northern Illinois in which he completed 29 of 46 passes for 333 yards and a touchdown.

But remember, Boucher's still just a freshmen.

How he responds to playing in the biggest game of his career could go a long way in determining the outcome of this one.

Middle Tennessee and Miami (OH) both got off to terrible starts.

The Blue Raiders started off 3-6, including three losses by at least 27 points, and the RedHawks started at just 4-4, losing those games by an average of 30.8 points per game.

Talk about turnarounds, though.

Middle Tennessee rattled off three straight wins to finish 6-6, and Miami (OH) ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak, including a huge victory over then-No. 25 Northern Illinois (who was an 18.5-point favorite).

One streak has to come to an end, but which one will it be?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe this is the only bowl game that features two schools who give up more points than they score.

Middle Tennessee ranks 62nd in the nation at 26.9 points per game, but the Blue Raiders rank 66th in points allowed at 27.5 per game.

Miami (OH) has similar problems.

The RedHawks rank 103rd in scoring at just 20.5 points per game and 48th in points allowed at 23.4 per game.

But it's bowl season, so there has to be a winner here, right?

It'll be interesting to keep an eye on which team can reverse the trend of being consistently outscored.

Miami (OH) finished the 2010 regular season at 9-4 overall.

The RedHawks also went 7-1 in the MAC and won the conference championship.

But in 2009 the team was a different story.

Miami (OH) was 1-7 in conference play and 1-11 overall. 

Yeah, they won one game!

With a win here, the RedHawks will reach double-digit wins, and no one expected that after the team's miserable performance in 2009. 

That plus-nine turnaround would be the largest in FBS history.
