Too often in life and increasingly in football people take themselves too seriously. Every once in a while an odd-ball comes along to buck the trend, to rebel against the natural order. Ian Holloway wrote the book. The maverick Blackpool boss is known more for his off-the-wall comments and analogies as his talent in the dug-out.

Since Blackpool’s promotion to the Premiership and subsequent meteoric success “Olly”, has been provided with the platform and exposure to preach his ‘unique’ musing’s on life and football.

It was on Saturday that I got the idea to collate this slide show, after Blackpool’s loss to Liverpool when Holloway sensible figured that if Charlie Adam were only worth 4 million (after a bid from Liverpool for that amount was rejected), then he was a ‘Scotsman called McTavish: Obvious I suppose.

I have not gone into any great analytical detail in my analysis of the quotes, they are what they are and needless pros would not do them justice. Here, for you, the bible according to that oh so special of managers, Ian ‘Olly’ Holloway.
