Norwich, QPR and Swansea Transfer Rumours: What Will the EPL Newcomers Do?

The newly promoted teams of Norwich, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea will all want to make a splash in the transfer window to strengthen the squads that gained them promotion from the Championship.

The first season in the Premier League is extremely important. If a team can retain their status in the Premier League, the business aspect to their club becomes much easier.

More importantly, they get the right to say you play in the best football league in the world.

How will the newly promoted teams better their chances at a successful first season in the Premier League? Here is an examination of what Norwich, QPR, and Swansea will do.

Norwich

Norwich City wants to not only establish themselves in the Premier League, but Paul Lambert wants his Canaries to play exciting football.

Lambert said: “[I] only want to sign players who are motivated to fight tooth and nail for this club” – Goal.com

Lambert has already shown that by signing James Vaughan from Everton.

Vaughan has loads of talent and will run until his legs fall off. He has a lot of fire and will play hard for Norwich as he looks to establish himself and get first team football.

Lambert also has had his club linked to Jimmy Bullard and Bradley Johnson.

Jimmy Bullard is a great toss up as he is looking to reestablish himself after having an injury plagued and controversial time with Hull City.

If Bullard can get back to the form he showed at Fulham, he will give Norwich a player who can give them miraculous moments from free kick opportunities and a leader on the pitch.

Jimmy Bullard would be an outstanding signing if they can get him on a deal that would be more of a pay-to-play type of contract. This will cover them if Bullard has injuries, but it also gives them a player who will bring leadership to a team that is in their first season in the Premier League.

Bradley Johnson may just be trading one shade of yellow for another, as his contract talks at Leeds have stopped, and Norwich is now thinking about the versatile player.

Johnson is a player that allows Lambert to have options. He can play in the center of the midfield but also can play as a winger and a left back.

Bradley Johnson may not be an exciting option, but he is a hard working player and has the “hunger” that the Canaries will need to survive in the Barclays Premier League.

Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers has ownership that will let them splash some money to prepare for their upcoming season.

Neil Warnock retained his post after gaining promotion with the club and will be looking to hold onto his job for the entirety of the Premier League season.

QPR has been linked with Wayne Routledge, Robbie Keane, and Andy Johnson.

But their most important move is going to be fending off clubs from their talismanic midfield man, Adel Taarabt.

He is creative and an exciting player for QPR. He is also a big reason why the club was able to obtain promotion.

QPR needs to reassure Taarabt that Loftus Road is the place for him. He needs to know that QPR is striving for more then just survival.

He wants to know that they are a club who will be battling to be in the top half of the table.

Wayne Routledge, Robbie Keane and Andy Johnson are all players that will add firepower to Queens Park Rangers if the club can land the signature of any of them.

Routledge was with the club in 2009 – 2010 season. He is familiar with the club and could be a strong player for them in their campaign next season if they could land him.

Keane and Johnson both add a veteran presence at the striker position that will get the club goals.

Keane is playing well for Ireland, and Harry Redknapp is trying to move the veteran. QPR would be a great club for him to have a rebirth of sorts for his footballing career.

Johnson will add relentless speed and work ethic that most managers would be hardpressed to find. If he can stay healthy, he would help QPR have a strong season.

Swansea

After obtaining promotion, Swansea will be looking not only to impress in the Premier League but also to represent Wales.

Swansea and Brendan Rodgers are going to want to keep playing their exciting brand of football.

If the Promotion playoffs serve as any indication, it will tell fans that Swansea will be an exciting team to watch.

Swansea is looking to add firepower upfront.

The club has been linked with Eidur Gudjohnsen and Leroy Lita.

Gudjohnsen adds experience and veteran leadership to the club. He will bring football experience from playing with Chelsea, Barcelona, and other teams all around Europe.

Leroy Lita is a striker that has strength to fight against the center backs in the Premier League.

He also brings the experience of his time at Reading and fighting for life in the Premier League. This could be something that is very valuable to Rodgers and the Liberty Stadium faithful.
