Boxing: 5 July Fights That Can Make Up for Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye

The anticipated heavyweight bout featuring Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye turned out to be a dud after Klitschko won a unanimous decision over 12 rounds of less than minimal action.

Haye appeared to have the will and desire to go after Klitschko, especially after years of trash-talking and saying he would beat both of the Klitschko brothers, who now hold all five major world titles in the division.

The fueled animosity and verbal action outside the ring didn't perspire into fist-to-chin action inside the ring, and Haye is the only one that should be blamed for the lackluster fight. Klitschko did everything he has always done and was dominant.

While Haye couldn't back up his mouth, there are a good amount of boxing matches left in July to cure the wound that the heavyweight fight left everyone with.

These are five bouts to still look forward to.

The heavyweight bout featuring prospects Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO) and Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO) could turn out to be pretty entertaining.

Both are in their 20s and are looking for future title shots against the biggest names in the division. While they don't have the necessary tools just yet, they are good fighters to watch as they progress up the rankings while challenging themselves against each other.

Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO) returns to the ring after his brutal knockout loss to Sergio Martinez last year. He takes on undefeated up-and-comer Erislandy Lara (15-0-1, 10 KO) on HBO, July 9th.

Williams brings the type of punch-output that was virtually missing from the Klitschko vs. Haye bout. There have been bouts where Williams has thrown more in 12 rounds than Klitschko and Haye threw in their bout, combined.

Lara was a standout amateur boxer and is coming off of a controversial draw versus Carlos Molina. Before that, he had knocked out his previous four opponents in the first round and looked good doing it.

IBO Cruiserweight Champion Danny Green (31-3, 27 KO) fights former Light-Heavyweight Champion Antonio Tarver (28-6, 19 KO) in Syndey, Australia, July 20th.

Tarver went down as arguably the best LHW boxer of the last decade, defeating the likes of Roy Jones Jr., Glen Johnson, Clinton Woods, Eric Harding and Montell Griffin.

Now 42, Tarver looks for one last run befor he hangs up the gloves of a short but well-documented career. His last hurrah begins with the 38-year-old from the land down under.

Green is coming off an impressive decision victory over BJ Flores. He has won his last 10 bouts, including eight by knockout. One of those was over Roy Jones Jr.

This Showtime bout puts two very exciting lightweights up against each other in Brandon Rios and Urbano Antillon.

Rios is undefeated at 27-0-1 with 20 knockouts, including his most recent performance against Miguel Acosta in February.

Antillon (28-2, 20 KO) is coming off of his close decision loss and fight of the year candidate against WBC Lightweight Champion Humberto Soto.

Like Klitschko vs. Haye, this bout has had it's fair share of trash-talk leading up the July 9th bout. Antillon has made remarks about Rios' wife, and he promises to make him pay. It may go down as a leading candidate for 2011's fight of the year.

The highest quality bout of the month might actually come near the end when WBA World Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO) takes on IBF Light Welterweight Champion Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KO).

Judah is a veteran of the sport and has a vast amount of experience behind him. He has taken on some of the very best of his time, including Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, Carlos Baldomir and Kosta Tszyu.

He lost to all four of them, and Khan makes sure he knows it.

Khan will be considered in the elite of the division if he can make it past the slick Judah, who is on a five-fight win streak with wins over Lucas Matthysse and Kaizer Mabuza. Khan's win streak is currently at seven and includes wins over Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana and Paul McCloskey.
