English Premier League Preview: Five Players from Promoted Teams Set to Impress

This new Premier League season will see Queens Park Rangers, Norwich City and Swansea City compete in the top flight, having gained promotion from the Championship last season. 

Although the clubs have all signed those all important players to try to keep them in the division, many of the players who helped their team get into the top division last season will be influential once again this year.

All of the players in this list were outstanding last season, not only earning their sides promotion to the Premier League, but each player was also in the PFA Championship team of the year, making them some of the best players outside of the Premier League.

And now that they are Premier League players, they'll have the opportunity to prove that they can make the step up to their new division.   

Queens Park Rangers' captain Adel Taarabt, the club's top scorer and the PFA Championship Player of the year winner, has proven himself in the second tier in the last two seasons with Rangers, but now has to prove himself in the top division.

Deemed not good enough at Tottenham, Taarabt went on loan to QPR twice between March 2009 and the summer of 2010. He impressed enough to convince Neil Warnock to buy the Moroccan in August of last year.

Since then, he has dazzled the division with his skill, creativity and goalscoring ability, making him the most valuable player on the team, shown by Neil Warnock's decision to make him the club captain.

Although his talent attracted the attention of top Premier League teams and French team Paris St-Germain, Taarabt has opted to stay at Loftus Road and is expected to shine in the Premier League this season.  

The captain and top scorer for the past two seasons will once again be a key player for the Canaries in their bid to stay in the top flight. 

Holt struggled to make a name for himself earlier in his career, failing to make a real impact at Sheffield Wednesday or Nottingham Forest. A move to League Two side Shrewsbury Town paid off, as he was the division's top scorer and caught the eye of Norwich City. 

Norwich, at the time a League One team after relegation from the Championship, put faith in Holt to get the goals to return the team to the second tier, and he didn't disappoint. 30 goals in all competitions during the 2009-10 season helped the Canaries to promotion, and after he earned the captain's armband before the 2010-11 season, he scored another 23 goals in all competitions to help Norwich finish second and secure another promotion.

Even though Paul Lambert has strengthened in the striker department, bringing in Steve Morison and James Vaughan, there is no doubt that Holt will once again be a key figure in Norwich's season.  

The 29 year-old Irishman has been influential in the past two seasons at Norwich. The side impressively managed to gain successive promotions, going from League One to the Premier League in just two seasons. 

And the Attacking Midfielder's contribution has been key to this feat, as he has formed a strong partnership with Grant Holt, playing just behind the captain and providing the supply for the leading scorer.

His assists for Holt, as well as his own contribution of 10 goals from midfield, have helped Norwich as they were top scorers in the division.

And although Norwich won't be the top scorers in the Premier League, there is every chance that the fans at Carrow Road will be in for more exciting attacking football, and Hoolahan is sure to be at the thick of it.  

After three seasons at Swansea in the Championship, Ashley Williams proved himself to be one of the top young defenders outside of the Premier League, having been key in Swansea's recent rise to the Premier League.

After showing promise at Stockport County, where he spent five years as a youngster, he joined Swansea in the summer of 2008 where, with Roberto Martinez as manager, Swansea had just earned promotion to the Championship.

Since then, Swansea's defense has been one of the strongest in the division, including last season where only QPR conceded less goals. This was largely thanks to Williams who has missed very few games in the last three seasons and is a consistent performer at the Liberty Stadium. 

And now that Swansea are in the Premier League, a division that punishes poor defenses, Williams will be heavily relied upon and should he be as consistent in this division as he has been in the Championship. The Welsh club stand every chance of staying up.     

Deemed not good enough at Chelsea, Scott Sinclair played for no fewer than six clubs on loan in the Championship, before Swansea took a risk and brought the talented winger last summer.

Now he has remarkably returned to the Premier League with his new side after a great season at the Welsh club, in which he was the club's top scorer. He also scored a hat-trick in the play-off final at Wembley, as the Swans secured a 4-2 victory over Reading that earned them a place in the Premier League.

He caused nightmares for fullbacks last season with his skill and pace, but was even more deadly when he cut inside towards goal, which is why he managed to get his name on the score sheet 27 times in all competitions last season. The nearest other Swansea player had just 12 to his name.

Now an England Under-21 international, Sinclair will be relied upon again to help Swansea stay in the Premier League.
