Oregon State Football: 3 Possible Wins for the Winless Beavers
Oregon State Football: 3 Possible Wins for the Winless Beavers
It’s been a very long and difficult season for the Oregon State Beavers.
After an opening-week loss—the worst in OSU history—to an FCS school, Sacramento State, the Beavers took a trip to Madison to get blanked 35-0 against the Wisconsin Badgers.
With a week to prepare, I really thought that the Beavers would have figured out some of their issues in time for the UCLA Bruins this Saturday.
I was wrong.
Besides the passing attack for Oregon State, the Beavers were manhandled in every aspect of the game.
This could be a long season that ends without a win, but here are the three best chances for the Beavers to steal a win.
Week 6: Arizona
The first chance for a victory, and maybe the best chance, is against Arizona. The Wildcats have been so pitiful defensively that even a depleted Oregon State offense could score a massive amount of points.
The Beavers rank 112th in the country in points scored (15.7 ppg), and the constant rotation of quarterbacks has the offense out of sync. With that said, the Wildcats rank 106th in points against.
The fact that this is a home game for OSU may mean the Beavers have a chance.
Prediction: Arizona 28, Oregon State 24
Week 7: BYU
It’s difficult to understand this Cougars team. They looked great in their first two games with a close win over Ole Miss, then nearly pulled off the upset over the Texas Longhorns. Both games on the road.
In their past two games, both at home, the Cougars were spanked by rival Utah (54-10) and nearly lost to a bad Central Florida squad. It’s not often you find a team that does better on the road then at home.
Unfortunately for the Beavers, it is in Corvallis.
Prediction: Oregon State 27, BYU 23
Week 8: at Washington State
It should be pretty obvious why Washington State is on this list. Over the past five seasons, Washington State has probably been the worst BCS conference team.
The Beavers were stunned at home last season by the Cougars, and you know the OSU fans will be out for blood. Both teams have been plagued with injuries, so it should be interesting to see who can overcome them and win.
Prediction: Washington State 34, Oregon State 27
