UConn Football: 4 Reasons Why Paul Pasqualoni Shouldn't Be on the Hot Seat

Off to a 2-4 start in his first season as UConn football head coach, there have been rumblings about Paul Pasqualoni already being on the hot seat.

Despite a disappointing loss to West Virginia this afternoon, these rumblings are a bit premature.

No coach should be fired only six games into his tenure with a school. 

Paul Pasqualoni has coached just six games for the UConn Huskies football team. Yeah, he has lost four of them but it is way too early to fire him.

If coaches were evaluated based on their first six games as head coach of a football program, many of the game's top coaches would lose their jobs six games after being hired.

Paul Pasqualoni's UConn Huskies have started the season 2-4 but he has done it with former coach, Randy Edsall's, players. 

His first recruiting class will not come in until next year so he has not yet been able to recruit players that fit his system.

If he continues to fail on the field with his own recruiting classes, then he should be put on the hot seat but not for losing with Edsall's players. 

When a new head coach comes into program, the players have to learn a completely new system, offensively and defensively.

Although these players had all spring and summer to learn it, they are still having some growing pains.

This point meshes into the fact that it has only been six games because it will take longer than that to perfect Pasqualoni's system.

Again, if the team is still unsuccessful in this system down the road, Pasqualoni would deserve to be on the hot seat but not just yet. 

Although UConn football has seen success in the recent years, they can't expect much success with a walk-on running the offense from the quarterback position.

Johnny McEntee is a good story with his trick shot video and all but he is not a Division I quarterback, which is why he wasn't offered a scholarship.

Once Pasqualoni gets his guy in there, Casey Cochran, currently playing at Masuk High School, the offense should produce more.

If the offense still doesn't produce with Pasqualoni's guy calling the shots, it will be time to put him on the hot seat. 

Overall, Randy Edsall left this offense without much talent at the quarterback position and Pasqualoni can not be blamed for that.

Give it time folks, he could very well turn this thing around in the coming years.
