5 Changes Ring of Honor Wrestling Must Make to Ensure a Positive Future

Tonight Ring of Honor debuted on Sinclair Productions stations around the country. With many arguing that this is a big step towards their future, it is obvious from watching the show tonight that there are still changes that need to be made to the product.

While it was a decent start in the next stage of their company, I fear that if they don’t make the following changes they will be destined for failure.

It is clear that Kevin Kelly is the Play by Play man on the booth, but Nigel McGuinness is just not going to cut it as the Color Commentator. 

He has little to nothing to contribute, and Kelly is often left as the only voice.

Here is a suggestion, how about Ring of Honor original, Colt Cabana (who was left off of the program tonight) or maybe Jim Cornette?

One of the signature things that makes ROH a must-see product is the crowd.

If you ever attend a live show, the crowd adds a necessary dynamic to the feel of the show.

On tonight’s show, we could hear the crowd, slightly. However it was not nearly as loud as it should have been. 

In future tapings, the crowd should be wired to pick up the noise in a better way. It would improve the show immensely.

The show was way too dark. It had a dingy type of feel to it. 

Whether it was just the set up of the cameras, or the venue that they used was a bad choice, this is an issue that needs to be addressed at the next taping.

Otherwise, ROH risks the chance that they will be perceived as a low-rent cheap indy.

It was obvious from the first shot of the arena that the camera setup was flawed.

The hard camera was zoomed way too far out from the ring and made it almost impossible to see any detail in the ring. Plus, the quality of the footage was really poor.

HD cameras would really be an asset.

Ring of Honor really needs that one established talent to lend them credibility.

While having Jim Cornette is cool, if you are a casual fan who has just started watching wrestling you would probably have no clue who Jim Cornette even is.

The best choice for ROH is Mick Foley. He is fresh from TNA and has yet to sign with the WWE. He could be a legitimate player without wrestling much.
