Texas Basketball: Complete Roster, Season Preview for 2013-14 Longhorns

The 2012-13 season was a complete disaster for the Texas Longhorns.

Due to the NCAA's inability to rule on the eligibility of Myck Kabongo, the Longhorns were left in limbo until it was too late when the Canadian returned in February. 

With the Kabongo saga now behind them, the Longhorns are ready to usher in a new era of hoops in Austin guided by a roster that has no seniors and just two juniors. 

Here is a complete look at the 2013-14 edition of Rick Barnes' Longhorns. 

Kendal Yancy: In his first collegiate season, Kendal Yancy will be handed the reins of the Texas offense. 

As the expected starter at point guard, Yancy will direct the offense as it comes up the court, but he should not be the team's leading scorer, which is a responsibility that will fall on the shoulders of the veterans of the squad. 

Damarcus Croaker: The other freshman expected to contribute on a significant basis this year is Damarcus Croaker. 

The 6'2" guard will be asked to provide quality minutes in a bench role in all 31 games this season. 

Javan Felix: The stage is set for Javan Felix to take over as the Longhorns' main scorer. 

Felix averaged 6.8 points per game in his first season in Austin, and that number is expected to make a massive jump into double digits by the end of his sophomore campaign. 

Jonathan Holmes: In the ever-changing landscape of college basketball, it is still rare to see a junior be a team's most experienced player. 

For Texas, Jonathan Holmes is the player who is the old man on the roster.

Holmes will be paired in the paint with sophomore center Cameron Ridley, and the two should form a formidable duo that will cause some trouble in the Big 12. 

Connor Lammert: Having versatility gets you playing time at any level, and that is exactly what Connor Lammert has. 

At 6'9", Lammert is able to play inside, but he also has the skill set to contribute on the perimeter if needed.

Starting Five: Javan Felix; Kendal Yancy; Connor Lammert; Jonathan Holmes; Cameron Ridley

Key Contributors off of the Bench: Prince Ibeh; Damarcus Croaker; Isaiah Taylor; Martez Walker

Cameron Ridley: Cameron Ridley is expected to be the man in the paint for the men in burnt orange. 

The former McDonald's All-American should deliver plenty of key performances this season as he looks to up his totals of 4.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game from his freshman season.

Javan Felix: As was aforementioned, Felix is supposed to be the big playmaker for the Longhorns. 

With a lack of experience in the team's other guards, the sophomore should thrive under pressure and make sure that his team is able to contend in their biggest games. 

Connor Lammert: Lammert's versatility will help out the Longhorns in a major way.

With no true wing player with experience on the roster, Lammert will be asked to step out to the perimeter on plenty of occasions to hand the Longhorns a momentum boost with a three-pointer or two. 

Best-Case Scenario:

The absolute best-case scenario for the Longhorns has Felix soaring to new heights and the frontcourt of Lammert, Holmes, Ridley and Prince Ibeh playing out of their minds. 

In this ideal situation, Texas would be able to hand Kansas and Oklahoma State some nervy moments during conference play and possibly finish second in the league. 

Worst-Case Scenario: 

This season could go in a plethora of directions for Texas, and the worst-case scenario sees them falter against big-time opponents in nonconference play.

Losing big to the likes of Michigan State and North Carolina could damage the morale of a young Longhorns team, and fans in Austin could be in for another rough season as Barnes looks to rebuild his squad. 

2013-14 Prediction: 21-10 (12-6 Big 12)

In all honesty, the Longhorns are a year away from making a ton of noise on the national scene once again.

Nonconference games against Michigan State, North Carolina, Temple, Vanderbilt and potentially Wichita State in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic final could put Texas in a hole early.

In conference play, they will be competing for third place against Baylor and possibly Oklahoma. 

Kansas and Oklahoma State are a step above the rest in the Big 12, but that does not mean that the Longhorns will not pull off an upset or two in conference play.
