County Championship Team of the Week: Saeed Ajmal, Kyle Hogg and More

There were hundreds galore in this week's County Championship matches, with Glamorgan, Surrey, Durham, Worcestershire and Warwickshire all picking up wins. Yorkshire and Sussex are still slogging it out in their match, so their players are excluded from this week's team.

While there might have been loads of runs, there were also some impressive bowling spells. Compiling a team makes for tricky thinking. Who do you think has missed out that should be here? Add your thoughts in the comments.

A hundred in Surrey's first innings and five wickets in the match earns Ansari the first opening spot of this week's team.

He was one of two players to get a ton for Surrey in the first innings to help amass 421 runs. That total helped them to a 10-wicket win over Derbyshire.

The 22-year-old now has 638 runs in 10 matches this season at an average of 63.80. 

To add some experience to the opening pair, Jacques Rudolph gets the nod for his hundred against Kent.

Glamorgan won the match by an innings and 11 runs after scoring 527 in their first spell at the crease.

Two Glamorgan batsmen notched up tons, while Kent failed to pass 253 in both of their innings. 

Tom Fell slots in at No. 3 for his second-innings effort of 124, which helped Worcestershire clinch a 243-run win.

After both teams stuttered in their first innings, Worcestershire piled on the runs and then dismantled Leicestershire to pick up a massive win. 

Playing in just his fourth ever first-class game, Sam Hain looked completely unfazed by the occasion.

The 18-year-old, who was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Australia, scored a feisty 134 for Warwickshire in their first innings.

The Bears amassed 602 runs and beat Northamptonshire by an innings and 105. 

Slotting in as wicketkeeper batsman, Steven Davies impressed for Surrey, scoring a gritty 124 off 166 balls.

With his partners around him struggling somewhat, Davies knuckled down and made it count to help take Surrey to a solid total. 

Two wickets and a hundred, which helped to set up Glamorgan's victory charge, earns Jim Allenby a spot in this week's team.

Glamorgan's batsmen performed really well throughout, but Allenby's contribution for the fifth wicket, where he shared 204 runs with Chris Cooke, helped Glamorgan set up a big total. 

Another lower-order fighter, Keith Barker's unbeaten 102 for Warwickshire gets him the nod.

The Bears were already well in control by the time he came in to bat. However, his hundred helped propel them to over 600 runs, which in turn resulted in a massive win. 

Coming in to open the bowling is Kyle Hogg, who picked up six in Lancashire's first innings and three in their second.

Durham might have won the match by an edgy 27 runs, but Hogg's bowling efforts were impressive enough to earn him a place in the team for the week. 

At the risk of being accused of Glamorgan-bias, Michael Hogan also gets a spot.

With 10 wickets against Kent, he was instrumental in setting up the victory. Hogan had a good week and deserves to make the side. 

Eight wickets and 49 runs makes Warwickshire's Chris Woakes an easy pick for this week's team of the week.

It might not be enough to nudge the England selectors just yet, but it was certainly impressive enough to help his side to a victory with an all-round performance. 

What is a team without a spinner? What is a team without Saeed Ajmal?

Not as good as they would be with Saeed Ajmal. That's the answer.

His seven wickets for Worcestershire—and, most impressively, his six for 19 in the second innings—makes Ajmal an automatic pick.

Those six wickets contributed massively to the victory and saw Leicestershire bowled out for a measly 169.

Not a single player managed more than 39 runs, as Ajmal's wizardry ripped through the middle order and wrapped up the tail.
