10 Players Who Could Make Their Italy Debuts in Euro 2016 Qualifiers

With Antonio Conte now in charge of the Italian national team, a new era will unfold with different tactics as well as players.

The 2-0 win against the Netherlands on Thursday was a positive start to Conte's reign in charge of the Azzurri, and it's expected that he'll continue to broaden the talent pool with promising youngsters from across the peninsula.

Here are 10 players without an official cap for the senior side who could make their Italy debuts during the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Francesco Bardi

Francesco Bardi is a talented goalkeeper set for another season on loan in Serie A, this time with Chievo Verona.

A formidable shot-stopper with excellent reflexes, it's only a matter of time before Bardi forces his way into the national team and gets a cap with the senior side.

Unfortunately for him, Italy has a plethora of fantastic goalkeepers, so it'll take a special season to get noticed by Antonio Conte.

Nicola Murru

Nineteen-year-old Nicola Murru has shown promise with both Cagliari in Serie A and the Italy U21 squad.

He's a quick left-back who is a great crosser of the ball, and he will flourish in Zdenek Zeman's system in Sardinia, in which attacking full-backs are a fulcrum. Murru will be encouraged to get forward and join the attack as much as possible, which will allow the youngster to showcase his crossing ability.

Expect Murru to be another name on Conte's radar for the national side.

Daniele Baselli

Daniele Baselli is a midfielder who has been called up by former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli but has yet to make his international debut.

The Atalanta player is a talented technician in the center of the park, who can accurately pick out a passes and throw his body into challenges.

Baselli has represented Italy at every level of the youth setup and will make his senior bow sooner rather than later.

Lorenzo Crisetig

The Inter-owned Lorenzo Crisetig played on loan with Crotone in Serie B last season, and he impressed as an influential midfielder capable of carrying an offense when in possession.

He now gets to play for Zdenek Zeman in Cagliari, where he'll be encouraged to push forward and join the attack, pulling the strings for the highly offensive system.

Crisetig could be the ideal candidate to join Italy's midfield as they prepare for the Euro 2016 tournament and leave behind the poor memories of the past two World Cups.

Domenico Berardi

Now that his Sassuolo strike-partner Simone Zaza was called-up and performed well in Italy's friendly against the Netherlands, expect Domenico Berardi to follow suit.

A lanky, technical striker with an excellent left foot, Berardi scored 16 goals in Serie A last season, an incredible tally that included a heroic four-goal performance against Milan during a game that put his name on the world map.

He's one of Italy's brightest hopes up front, and he should be a focal point of Antonio Conte's system going into Euro 2016.

Nicola Leali

Nicola Leali is another goalkeeper on this list who has drawn rave reviews.

He's been hailed as the new Gianluigi Buffon, though it helps that he's owned by Juventus. Leali will play in the Serie A for the first time in his career this season after two loan spells in the second tier with Virtus Lanciano and Spezia.

He'll be between the posts for newly-promoted Cesena, where he'll undoubtedly face plenty of fire from opposing attacking units and hopefully find his way into Conte's plans.

Daniele Rugani

Daniele Rugani is a wiry 20-year-old central defender on loan at second-division side Empoli from Juventus.

While it's unlikely that he'll get mentioned among other players that Conte is considering this calendar year, don't discount his chances of a call-up next year if he gets valuable Serie A experience and impresses at the top level.

Italy's defence isn't what it used to be, and Conte will be looking at youngsters in the hopes of unearthing the new Paolo Maldini, Sandro Nesta or Fabio Cannavaro.

Romulo

Romulo became a naturalized Italian citizen last year and even made Cesare Prandelli's preliminary World Cup roster, though he never featured in an official game.

Born in Brazil, the versatile midfielder exploded onto the scene with Hellas Verona last season, showing his abilities to defend as well as score goals and assist teammates.

Romulo was one of the reasons why Hellas Verona was one of Serie A's fairy-tale stories, and he should continue to get looked at by Conte as he now plies his trade for Juventus.

He can play in a variety of positions and is hard-working wherever he's deployed.

Mattia Perin

Even though he was the third-choice goalkeeper for Italy at the 2014 World Cup, Mattia Perin still hasn't been able to get on the field for his country in a competitive match.

The shaggy-haired stopper has remarkable reflexes and is a fine athlete, often showing his dexterity with incredible saves and lateral leaps.

Expect Perin to continue to get called-up to the national side and eventually cement his place in the starting line-up as the vice-Buffon.

Andrea Belotti

Twenty-year-old striker Andrea Belotti has a chance to shine in Serie A with Palermo after his 10 goals last season helped the Sicilian side achieve promotion from Serie B.

Belotti has pace, an excellent shooting technique and fine movement in the box and could be an interesting prospect for Antonio Conte to look at.

He works hard when the other team is in possession, which is another trait that Conte loves from his attackers.
