Grading Philadelphia Flyers' Deals at the 2015 Trade Deadline
The Philadelphia Flyers have played some decent hockey over the last few weeks, but they played the role of sellers at the 2015 NHL trade deadline.
The Flyers were able to move some of their more valuable assets, and the return received will help Philadelphia build a better roster for the 2015-16 season.
General manager Ron Hextall will be busy in June, as his trades netted him three draft choices for a very deep 2015 draft. Here's a look at how the Flyers did with moving their assets at the deadline.
Flyers Trade Kimmo Timonen
To Philadelphia Flyers: 2015 second-round pick and 2016 conditional fourth-round pick
To Chicago Blackhawks: Kimmo Timonen
Kimmo Timonen was a great Flyer who will be sorely missed by fans of Philadelphia. Timonen tallied 270 points in 519 games with the Flyers and spent seven seasons in the city of Brotherly Love.
The fact that the Flyers were able to recoup a 2015 second-rounder and a conditional 2016 pick for a 39-year-old who had missed the entire season to date is astounding and a great haul for a player whose career is approaching the coda.

Flyers Trade Braydon Coburn
To Philadelphia Flyers: Radko Gudas, 2015 first-round pick and 2015 third-round pick
To Tampa Bay Lightning: Braydon Coburn
The Flyers dealt a talented top-four defenseman in Braydon Coburn, but it was the right move to make at this point in the season. Philadelphia isn't going to make the playoffs, and it found a team willing to pay a premium.
Radko Gudas is a smashmouth, in-your-face defenseman who fits the Flyers' style perfectly, and he will be a second-pairing guy next season. An additional first-rounder in this year's draft is also great, as is the conditional third-rounder.
The Flyers team got a lot worse for this season, but that will only help their eventual draft position once the draft lottery is held.
Grade: A
Flyers Do Not Acquire Keith Yandle
According to The Fourth Period, the Philadelphia Flyers were one of the many teams to show interest in Keith Yandle. The acquisition is one that would have made sense given Philadelphia's need for quality defenders, but it wouldn't have made sense this season.
The Arizona Coyotes eventually traded Yandle to the New York Rangers, and it is an outcome general manager Ron Hextall isn't likely thrilled about.
The Flyers likely would have had to part with a top prospect, their first-rounder this season and a future pick, as that was the price the Broadway Blueshirts ultimately paid. The Flyers will have a chance to upgrade their blue line this summer, and it was smart to remain in sell mode at the deadline.
