England vs. Australia: Winners and Losers from 1st ODI

The opening game of the five-match one-day international series between hosts England and Australia went the way of the visitors, who triumphed by 59 runs.
It was a tight game in which the away side made comebacks with both bat and ball to secure the victory.
Meanwhile, England will lament building up strong positions but then letting them slide, especially in the crucial first game of the series.
Here are some winners and losers from theĀ first ODI.
Winner: Matthew Wade

Joining the fray at 192 for five, Matthew Wade quickly contributed to the run out of Shane Watson and was left with it all to do in the closing stages of the innings.
That he ended 71 not out from 50 balls, and having helped Australia past 300, indicates a job well done, especially considering this was just his third knock on tour.
Loser: James Taylor

With England chasing 306 to win, James Taylor had the perfect opportunity at three to score big and help his side to victory, and he looked to be taking advantage.
However, with his score on 49, Taylor charged at Shane Watson and was bowled after an ugly swipe, wasting a great start and failing to secure his place in the long term.
Winner: Jason Roy

At the top of the order for England, Jason Roy looked in scintillating form as he made 67 from 64 balls and contributed to their fast start.
Unfortunately, he was out softly as he chipped Glenn Maxwell to David Warner at point, but it was a solid innings from the right-hander as he looks to keep his place as an opener.
Loser: Chris Woakes

He may have hit speeds upward of 90 miles per hour with the ball, but this was a miserable day for the returning Chris Woakes.
Woakes bowled nine wicketless overs for 57 and then was out for a golden duck. He will lament not asserting himself on the game more.
Winner: David Warner

Opening for Australia still after a long tour, David Warner looked in fine touch once again as he reached 59 from 67 balls.
Warner stroked a number of fine boundaries and looked to be continuing his good run from the Tests, until he was removed by Adil Rashid.
Loser: Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes endured a poor day for England by his recent high standards, starting with the ball as he took zero for 38 in six fruitless overs.
He then struggled to 13 from 23 balls before being put out of his misery by Mitchell Starc, having failed to hit the heights of his recent Test form.
