WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 9/28/2015
WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 9/28/2015

In the week after WWE Night of Champions 2015, the WWE Superstar Power Rankings have been shaken up a bit. And with WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 still almost a month away, there's sure to be plenty more movement in the rankings.
That's especially true this time around since on Saturday, live on the WWE Network, WWE will put on a special event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. That card will feature WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins challenging WWE United States champion John Cena for the United States title inside a steel cage.
Also, the Dudley Boyz will face WWE tag team champions the New Day for their titles. Chris Jericho will face WWE intercontinental champion Kevin Owens for the IC title. And of course, Brock Lesnar will appear in MSG for the first time in over a decade.
There are more matches, which will be detailed in later slides, but enough about the coming week.
This past week saw a lot of action and a lot of changes. Seth Rollins lost his No. 1 ranking and appears to have found a new opponent. Also, we found out Sting suffered a serious injury at Night of Champions, and he spoke at length with WWE.com about the situation.
Anyway, we'll get into the rest of this past week's action throughout the following slides. But beforehand, please read how these rankings are determined.
These rankings are not a popularity contest and are not designed to determine who has the best matches or the most ability. These rankings are strictly in-storyline power rankings.
All active Superstars and Divas on the WWE roster are considered, excluding talents who primarily or exclusively perform in NXT. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, but any NXT Superstar deemed eligible for these rankings will remain on the Watch List until officially named a part of the WWE main roster.
Holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding a Money in the Bank briefcase counts for much of a wrestler's ranking, and these honors are therefore the most heavily weighed components.
If a wrestler is deemed to be tied with another, holding a title will be the primary tiebreaker. However, holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding the Money in the Bank briefcase in no way guarantees a spot in the top 10.
Wins and losses account for the bulk of the week-to-week movement and, after championships, are the most important components of the rankings. The quality and rank of a wrestler's opponents are considered in the week-to-week movement.
Getting the better of someone—such as beating someone down—also counts, though not nearly as much as wins and losses. Being over with the fans (i.e., getting a strong reaction) is not heavily weighted in the ranking decisions; it is effectively the last tiebreaker. Pay-per-view wins and losses take on added importance.
Only the top 10 wrestlers are ranked. Wrestlers on the Watch List were considered for top-10 status but were ultimately nixed. They are unranked, and their listing is in no particular order.
Generally speaking, these rankings do not break kayfabe. However, any major non-storyline information—serious injury, WWE Wellness Policy violations, suspensions, legitimate hirings, firings, contract information and "sabbaticals"—may be taken into consideration but only if WWE confirms or addresses it publicly.
WWE's non-televised domestic and international live events are not included in these rankings unless WWE incorporates them into television storylines or acknowledges them on WWE television. Also, nothing that could be explicitly considered a spoiler is included unless WWE acknowledges it as well.
In short, all WWE main-roster shows—televised or digitally distributed—as well as anything from WWE.com, the WWE App, the WWE Network and any WWE or Superstar accounts on social media that don't break kayfabe may be taken into consideration.
These may include but are not limited to WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, WWE Main Event, WWE Superstars, NXT, WWE pay-per-views and any storyline-driven content from the WWE Network.
Watch List
The Dudley Boyz
It wasn't a great week for Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley. In their only match, they teamed with Dolph Ziggler against the New Day and Rusev on Raw and lost. But they'll get a shot at the New Day and the WWE Tag Team Championships on Saturday when WWE takes over Madison Square Garden.
Sting
Sting did not appear following Night of Champions, and we may not see him for a while. He suffered a neck injury in his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins at the aforementioned PPV. It looks as though he'll miss some time, and after this week, barring an appearance, Sting will drop from the rankings.
No. 10: Big Show
Previous Rank: Unranked
Movement: Into Top 10
Big Show powered his way back into the top 10 this week after a very impressive performance on Raw. He faced and defeated Cesaro in commanding fashion, sending a message that he's ready for his scheduled match against Brock Lesnar at the MSG show on Saturday.
The question now is, can Big Show deal Lesnar his second loss in a row? Or will he be the victim of an angry Beast, looking to take out frustration over his SummerSlam loss to the Undertaker?
No. 9: Randy Orton
Previous Rank: 7
Movement: Down 2
Randy Orton didn't have any matches this week, but he did inject himself into the ongoing rivalry between the Wyatt Family and Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in response to an attack at the hands of the Wyatts several weeks ago.
As Raw came on the air, the Wyatts and Reigns and Ambrose got into a fight in the ring. As the Wyatts pressed their advantage, Orton came to the ring and evened the odds. Orton's assistance allowed Reigns and Ambrose to drive the Wyatts from the ring.
Will he continue to ally with the former Shield members, or is this just an alliance of convenience?
No. 8: Charlotte
Previous Rank: 9
Movement: Up 1
The new WWE Divas champion Charlotte didn't even have to wait a day to see a new rival appear. Team PCB seems over and done since Paige interrupted Charlotte's speech on Raw, showing Paige really just wants the title, not friends.
Charlotte, while disappointed and angry at the developments, took out her frustration on Brie Bella, who submitted to the Figure-Eight leg lock. And while Nikki Bella will get a rematch for the title at some point, Charlotte has to watch out for Paige.
How long will it be before Team B.A.D. and Team Bella decide to part ways as each woman seeks the gold?
No. 7: The New Day
Previous Rank: 10
Movement: Up 3
WWE tag team champions the New Day had a great week. On Raw, Kofi Kingston and Big E teamed with Rusev in a win over the Dudley Boyz and Dolph Ziggler. They picked up a win when Xavier Woods distracted Ziggler, allowing him to be pinned by the Bulgarian Brute.
On SmackDown, the full team of the New Day faced Neville and the Lucha Dragons. They won when Xavier Woods pinned Sin Cara.
The New Day's "#SaveTheTables" campaign has thus far seen mixed results. But on Saturday in Madison Square Garden, they'll truly test the strength of the movement. Can they avoid going through tables at the hands of The Dudleys? And more importantly, can they retain their titles?
No. 6: Sheamus
Previous Rank: 8
Movement: Up 2
Mr. Money in the Bank Sheamus picked up two important wins this week. On Raw, he faced Mark Henry and defeated the former world champion via a Brogue Kick. On Main Event, he faced and defeated another former world champion, Jack Swagger.
After his cash-in attempt was thwarted at Night of Champions, Sheamus has regrouped nicely. Can he keep building momentum? When will he next try to cash in?
No. 5: Ryback
Previous Rank: 6
Movement: Up 1
Ryback got back on track this week after losing the Intercontinental Championship to Kevin Owens at Night of Champions. On Raw, he defeated Bo Dallas and fended off an attack by Owens afterward. Then on SmackDown, he teamed with Dolph Ziggler against Owens and Rusev. Owens walked out on the match, and Ryback pinned Rusev for the victory.
Ryback will get a rematch for the intercontinental title at some point. But with Chris Jericho getting an IC title shot in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, whom will Ryback face?
No. 4: Kevin Owens
Previous Rank: 5
Movement: Up 1
WWE intercontinental champion Kevin Owens got his title reign off to a slow start. On Raw, he tried attacking Ryback after the Big Guy's match with Bo Dallas. Instead, he got clotheslined and driven off.
On SmackDown, he teamed with Rusev against Dolph Ziggler and Ryback. Rusev hit a monster Superkick that looked to be the end of Ziggler. Ziggler kicked out, though, and Owens walked out on the bout.
Perhaps he thought the match was over and prematurely celebrated. Perhaps he has simply frustrated. Whatever the case, the distraction allowed Ryback to hit the Shellshock and pin Rusev, dealing Owens a team loss.
Owens has to defend his title against Chris Jericho on Saturday. Can he fend off the veteran challenger? If so, when will Ryback get his rematch?
No. 3: Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose
Previous Rank: 3
Movement: None
Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose got back on track this past week coming off a tough loss to the Wyatt Family at Night of Champions. On Raw, they brawled with the Wyatts and were backed up by Randy Orton, who has his own beef with the Eater of Worlds and his followers.
On SmackDown, they each had a singles match. Reigns faced and defeated Luke Harper. Later in the night, Ambrose faced Seth Rollins in a non-title match. A distraction by Kane's pyrotechnics allowed Ambrose to roll up Rollins and get the pin.
With their rivalry with the Wyatts still simmering, Reigns and Ambrose look to have a full plate. When will the next battle between the two teams take place?
No. 2: Seth Rollins
Previous Rank: 1
Movement: Down 1
WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins did not have a good week. On Raw, Corporate Kane didn't seem to know what Demon Kane had done at Night of Champions. That doesn't bode well for Rollins considering the antagonism that exists between Kane and the Architect.
Kane announced Rollins would get his United States title rematch against John Cena on Raw, and Rollins faced Cena in the main event. Rollins lost, and after the match, Demon Kane pulled him under the ring.
Rollins emerged, though, and he competed on SmackDown. He faced Dean Ambrose in a non-title match, and Kane's pyrotechnics caused a distraction that allowed Ambrose to roll him up for the victory.
After a big win over Sting at Night of Champions, Rollins followed it with two pinfall losses. Can Rollins get back to winning ways and regain the top spot in the rankings?
No. 1: John Cena
Previous Rank: 2
Movement: Up 1
WWE United States champion John Cena claims the top spot in the rankings this week, a spot to which he is no stranger. After reclaiming the United States title at Night of Champions, he followed it up with a big win.
He faced WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins in a rematch for the United States title on Raw. After a strong match, Cena hit Rollins with the AA and pinned him for the win.
That won't be the end of their feud. Rollins will get a chance to regain the U.S. title inside a steel cage in Madison Square Garden on Saturday. Can Cena fend off Rollins one more time?
