B/R's Week 16 PPR Fantasy Football Player Rankings
B/R's Week 16 PPR Fantasy Football Player Rankings

Where once there were many, now there are few.
Week 16 is semifinals week in fantasy football leagues. In many formats, the top two teams from the regular season will make their first postseason appearance of the year. Meanwhile, the upstarts who made it through the quarterfinals will attempt to knock off the big dogs.
At this point, only good teams remain. There are no "gimme" wins. Every matchup is a closely contested battle between solid squads capable of putting up big scores, and every lineup decision becomes that much more critical.
Given those stakes, every bit of information fantasy managers can use to set the best possible lineup is valuable. And this column is full of just that sort of information: position-by-position PPR rankings, matchups to exploit and avoid, and a look at the top-100 players for Week 16.
Onward and upward.
Quarterbacks

For the second consecutive week, the NFL had its highest-scoring game of the season to date, and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills was again involved in the shootout.
In Week 14, Allen became the first quarterback to throw for three touchdowns and run for three touchdowns in the same game against the Los Angeles Rams. Fantasy's No. 2 quarterback for the season followed that up with 362 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 68 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. It marked the second consecutive week that Allen topped 40 fantasy points.
Hos counterpart in Buffalo's 48-42 victory didn't do so bad himself. In defeat, Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions threw for 494 yards and five touchdowns, finishing a fraction of a point behind Allen for the weekly lead at the position.
Allen's run of huge games may be coming to an end though—the Bills likely won't need 40 points to beat the hapless New England Patriots in Week 16.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (at CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]
Murray is coming off a down game in last week's win over New England—he failed to score a touchdown and barely cracked 10 fantasy points. He should have more success in Week 16 against a Carolina Panthers team that ranks inside the top-five in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks in 2024.
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets (vs. LAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600]
Rodgers had arguably his best game as a Jet last week, throwing for 289 yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rodgers draws a second straight favorable matchup this week—the Rams have given up some big stat lines to opposing quarterbacks in recent weeks.
BAD MATCHUPS
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders (vs. PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,300]
Daniels has been outstanding for fantasy managers as a rookie, ranking sixth among all quarterbacks in fantasy points. His rushing ability makes him at least somewhat matchup-proof, but he faces a tough one this week—the Eagles lead the league in pass defense, allowing 173.4 yards per game.
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (at MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300]
The 2024 season has been an injury-marred nightmare for the 49ers all season long, and things aren't likely to improve significantly this week against the Miami Dolphins—no team in the NFL has surrendered fewer fantasy points to the quarterback position this season.
SLEEPER
Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons (vs. NYG) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,500]
Penix is admittedly a rookie making his first start in Week 16--there are no guarantees here, But the Falcons have a solid offensive line, the team isn't short on offensive weaponry and Atlanta's first pick in 2024 is making his professional debut at home against arguably the worst team in the NFL.

Running Backs

Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions was already having an excellent 2024 season. He has topped 1,000 rushing yards for the season, he's averaging a robust 5.6 yards per carry and has 14 total touchdowns. For the season, he ranks among the top-five running backs in terms of PPR points.
Now, the 22-year-old could be a league-winner. With David Montgomery's season likely over after an MCL tear, Gibbs is the unquestioned lead back for a team that ranks sixth in the league in rushing.
As Alex Hunter of DraftKings noted, when Montgomery was sidelined by injury last year, Gibbs moved into a workhorse role and produced at an elite level:
"With Montgomery inactive three times last season, Gibbs provided 23.2 fantasy points per game while logging 72.2% of the snaps. In those three tilts, the back averaged 18 carries per game—including five red-zone attempts—which was 68.3% of the Lions' running back carries. Additionally, Gibbs averaged six catches per game and saw a target on 19% of his routes. Gibbs ranks fourth among all running backs in fantasy points per snap this season (0.53) and he should see right around 20 touches on weekly basis with Montgomery missing."
That 23.2 PPR points per game would lead all running backs this year, and Gibbs now faces a Chicago Bears defense that ranks 27th in the league against the run.
Good Matchups
James Conner, Arizona Cardinals (at CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100]
Conner essentially was the Arizona offense in last week's win over the Patriots, eclipsing 100 rushing yards and finding the end zone twice. The veteran should be set for another big game in Week 16. The Carolina run defense has been a sieve this season, allowing a whopping 173.0 yards per game.
Aaron Jones, Minnesota Vikings (at SEA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]
Jones is coming off a solid effort last week against the Chicago Bears, surpassing 100 total yards and finding the end zone. The Seahawks have been up and down against the run, allowing 127.5 yards per game and the 11th-most PPR points per game this season to RBs.
Bad Matchups
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (at BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,700]
Harris is headed toward his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season on the ground. But he has averaged less than four yards per carry, had just 14 yards on six carries last week and faces a Baltimore Ravens defense Saturday that leads the league against the run, surrendering just 80.7 yards per game.
Joe Mixon, Houston Texans (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,800]
After playing well most of the season, Mixon has been in something of a funk of late. He has failed to accrue 25 rushing yards in two of his last three starts. The ankle injury he suffered last week against the Dolphins isn't believed to be an issue, but Kansas City's third-ranked run defense could be another matter.
Sleeper
Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans (at IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
With Tony Pollard nursing an ankle injury, Spears has seen an uptick in usage of late, including 10 touches for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Colts have been a plus fantasy matchup for the position this season, allowing the sixth-most PPR points to running backs.

Wide Receivers

Heading into Week 15, there were some grumbles about the Philadelphia Eagles' passing game.
Jalen Hurts had thrown for 226 yards in his last two games combined, and there was talk of friction between the quarterback and wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Well, they say the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and WD-40 was sprayed liberally on the Eagles Sunday.
Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown caught eight of 11 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown. Batterymate DeVonta Smith was even better, with 11 catches on 12 targets for 109 yards and a score.
Brown told reporters after the win that the Eagles are concerned with far more important things than stats:
"We know what the end goal is, especially me, DeVonta and Jalen. We're trying to get to the end, and we're trying to finish. It's good we won 10 games, but we're not satisfied with that, honestly. In our minds, we haven't done nothing. That's our mindset. It's easy for us to have these tough conversations to call each other out because we know what we want at the end. It makes it easier when we're close."
Fantasy managers will take the numbers, though.
Good Matchups
D.J. Moore, Chicago Bears (vs. DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,700]
The Chicago passing attack has been inconsistent this season, but Moore leads the team in both receptions and receiving yards by a significant margin. And the Lions were a much easier team to throw on than run on even before Detroit lost No. 1 cornerback Carlton Davis.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks (vs. MIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]
As the 2024 season has progressed, the second-year pro has supplanted DK Metcalf as the No. 1 wide receiver for the Seahawks. The Vikings may be headed to the playoffs this season, but the pass defense has been an issue in Minnesota all season. Provided Geno Smith plays, Smith-Njigba should feast in Week 16.
Bad Matchups
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams (at NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500]
There may not be a lot of teams with Kupp on the roster left alive in the fantasy postseason after his goose egg last week on just three targets against the San Francisco 49ers. He draws another unfavorable matchup in Week 16 on the road against a Jets defense that ranks fifth in the league in pass defense.
Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders (vs. PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,300]
McLaurin is nearly impossible to sit, especially after he scored a pair of touchdowns in last week's win over the Saints. But the Eagles are better against the pass this year than last, and they rank at the bottom of the league in PPR points given up to wide receivers this year.
Sleeper
Keon Coleman, Buffalo Bills (vs. NE) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,700]
Coleman has been quiet of late, having just one catch in each of the past two games. Of course, last week's single catch against the Lions was a 64-yarder, and the way the Buffalo offense is marching up and down the field, a big day for a Bills wideout is just a Josh Allen throw or two away.
Week 16 Wide Receiver Rankings

Tight Ends

It has been a weird year at the tight end position this season in fantasy. And no TE personifies this weirdness more than Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals.
By most estimations, the 25-year-old has had a successful season. Among tight ends, he is second in the league with a whopping 116 targets. He has more catches (89) and yards (938) than any TE in the NFC. He's third at the position in PPR fantasy points.
He also has zero receiving touchdowns.
As Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters, the lack of end-zone trips won't preclude McBride from a big second contract:
"That's not the reason he's going to get paid, I don't know if I should have just said that, but he's a huge playmaker for us. A lot of the passing game goes through him. The run game, he's fantastic. … Every play he's out there, he's max effort and he's an impact player. He really is. When the ball goes to him, he makes a bunch of plays."
McBride's next catch will be the 200th of his career. He has four touchdowns.
Good Matchups
Sam LaPorta, Detroit (at Chicago) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,700]
LaPorta hasn't been able to duplicate his rookie success in 2024, but over the past three weeks, he ranks third among tight ends in PPR points. The Bears have been kind to the position this season, allowing the 10th-most fantasy points to TEs.
David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (at CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200]
Njoku has missed time with a hamstring injury, but there's optimism he will be able to play against a Cincinnati team surrendering over 17 PPR points per game to tight ends—most in the NFL. The switch at quarterback in Cleveland adds risk here (Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been poor), but the matchup is as good as it gets.
Bad Matchups
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (vs. NYG) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,000]
It's hard to say who has been a bigger disappointment this season: Pitts as a player or the Giants as a team. But for all New York's problems, it has been stingy to tight ends all season, giving up just over nine PPR points a game. Of course, nine points would be Pitts' best game in over a month.
Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins (vs. SF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500]
Smith has been one of this year's most pleasant surprises at tight end this season, and he's fourth at the position in PPR points after 15 weeks. But Week 16 could be an uphill battle. The 49ers have given up the second-fewest PPR points in the league to the position this season.
Sleeper
Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars (at LV) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,500]
Strange quietly had a massive Week 15, catching 11 of 12 targets against the New York Jets. Now the second-year pro out of Penn State takes on a horrible Las Vegas Raiders team that has allowed the fourth-most PPR points to tight ends this year.
Week 16 Tight End Rankings

2. George Kittle, SF (at MIA)

Kickers and Team Defenses

There are multiple reasons why so many fantasy pundits advise taking defenses and kickers at the end of drafts. Among them is the fact that the two positions are easily the most unpredictable in the game. And that has been borne out by the leaderboard at those positions in 2024.
The Denver Broncos are 8-6 in large part because of the NFL's eighth-ranked defense. No team in the league is allowing fewer points than their 17.6. They lead the NFL with 49 sacks and rank sixth with 23 takeaways.
That's all well and good, but per ADP data at Fantasy Pros, the Broncos weren't the first defense drafted. Or the 10th defense drafted.
It's a similar story at kicker. Chris Boswell of the Pittsburgh Steelers is a solid veteran kicker. He leads his position in fantasy points by a fair margin, but he wasn't drafted at all in more fantasy leagues than not.
That's something to bear in mind for 2025.
Good Matchups
Jake Moody, San Francisco 49ers (at MIA)
Moody hasn't been immune to the injuries that have ravaged the Niners this year, and he has missed three games and his field-goal percentage is down relative to his rookie season. But in Week 16, he draws a Miami Dolphins team allowing the third-most fantasy points to kickers.
Atlanta Falcons (vs. New York Giants) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700]
The Falcons aren't the best defense by any stretch of the imagination, but we just saw the Atlanta defense post a fat stat line against the AFC's worst team in the Las Vegas Raiders. Now the Falcons face the NFC's worst team in the Giants, who have given up the most fantasy points to defenses in the conference.
Bad Matchups
Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens (vs. PIT)
The 2024 campaign has been a nightmarish one for Tucker, and his 70.4 percent success rate on field goals ranks outside the top-30 kickers for the season. Now he faces a Pittsburgh Steelers team that ranks dead-last in fantasy points surrendered to kickers for the season.
Pittsburgh Steelers Defense (at BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,500]
The Steelers have been productive for fantasy managers this season and rank third in the league in fantasy points among defenses. But the Ravens are a miserable fantasy matchup for defenses—only the Buffalo Bills have given up fewer fantasy points to defenses this year.
Sleeper
Jacksonville Jaguars Defense (at LV) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,900]
The Jaguars have been mostly miserable defensively and rank dead-last in the league in total defense and 28th in scoring defense. But if you saw what's left of the Raiders offense against the Falcons, you know it has the potential to make any defense look like the 1985 Chicago Bears.

Top 100 Overall/Flex Rankings

Before we get to the top 100 players overall in PPR fantasy football leagues in Week 16 (a list that can aid with flex lineup decisions) a pair of quick notes.
The first is the same as always: There are no quarterbacks listed here. If your league has a startable second QB and a superflex spot, the former goes in the latter.
Friendly advice: Dorian Thompson-Robinson is not a startable second quarterback. He's just the end of Jerry Jeudy's fantasy value in the playoffs.
The second: The semifinals are a pressure-packed week for fantasy managers. Just two wins from a potential championship, folks focus intensely on every lineup decision.
Take a moment while setting your Week 16 lineup to relax and take a breath. Not many other managers did, and that's worth celebrating for a moment.
