Bold Predictions for Eagles' Individual Stat Leaders in 2024 NFL Season
Bold Predictions for Eagles' Individual Stat Leaders in 2024 NFL Season

For a team that isn't in rebuilding mode, the Philadelphia Eagles underwent a lot of changes this offseason. Though that wasn't surprising after last year's late-season collapse, Philly experienced quite a bit of turnover over the past few months.
Of course, centerpiece players like Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert and Josh Sweat remain. We don't know exactly how the rest of the Eagles' roster will shape up ahead of Tuesday's final roster cuts, but we do have a good idea of who the team's biggest playmakers will be.
With the preseason in the rear view and the Week 1 opener against the Green Bay Packers less than two weeks away, now is the perfect time to make a few statistical projections.
Below, you'll find a look at some presumptive Eagles stat leaders, a few bold predictions and what it could all mean for the 2024 season.
Jalen Hurts Nearly Halves His Turnovers

Philly's 2023 collapse was largely a defensive one, though there were certainly times when the offense appeared disjointed. One possible explanation is that the relationship between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni reportedly wasn't great.
According to ESPN's Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler, sources called the QB-coach relationship "fractured" and "unhealthy."
Another factor, though, was Hurts' lack of ball security. A viable MVP candidate the previous season, Hurts was never truly in the running in 2023 because of turnovers. He threw a career-high 15 interceptions and lost five fumbles.
Fortunately, the Eagles may have the tools to remedy Hurts' turnover issues. The acquisition of receiver Jahan Dotson will give Hurts a reliable fourth target behind A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. The addition of Saquon Barkley should prevent Hurts from having to carry so much of the offense on a weekly basis.
Ideally, new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will also do a better job of finding answers for the blitz than predecessor Brian Johnson did. That should lead to fewer panic throws and fewer sack-fumble opportunities for opposing defenses.
Statistically, Hurts probably won't make a massive jump over last year's numbers, but if he can dramatically reduce his turnover rate, it will lead to more wins and a stronger finish to the season.
Stat Prediction: 3,790 passing yards, 24 TDs, 9 INTs, 650 rushing yards, 13 rushing TDs, 2 lost fumbles
Saquon Barkley Returns to Pro Bowl Form

Plucking Barkley away from the rival New York Giants was a smart move by the Eagles. While the 27-year-old isn't the NFL's most consistent runner and has a notable injury history, he commands defensive attention unlike any back the Eagles have recently had.
This means that opposing defenses won't simply pin their ears back and attack Huts in virtually every situation.
Barkley will be an important piece of the game plan too, of course. He's a talented runner and receiver who can elude tackles and turn small plays into massive gains. His tendency to dance behind the line of scrimmage shouldn't be as problematic behind Philadelphia's blocking unit.
Yes, the Eagles lost star center Jason Kelce to retirement this offseason. However, their offensive line is still far and away better than anything Barkley experienced in New York.
This should all lead to Barkley returning to the Pro Bowl in 2024. That's not a major stretch since Miles Sanders and D'Andre Swift were Eagles Pro Bowlers over the past two years—and Philly has a far higher profile than the Giants.
The bold prediction here is that Barkley puts up some of the best numbers of his career and proves to be more than just a product of the Eagles' offense—unlike Sanders and Swift. History suggests that he'll miss a game or two, but Barkley may threaten to reach 2,000 scrimmage yards for the second time in his career.
Stat Prediction: 1,290 rushing yards, 69 receptions, 503 receiving yards, 11 TDs
Bryce Huff Records Double-Digit Sacks

Haason Reddick led the Eagles in sacks in each of the past two seasons, but he was traded to the New York Jets during the spring. Somewhat ironically, Philly signed former Jet Bryce Huff to replace Reddick.
Huff is far from the only talented sack artist on Philadelphia's roster. Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham are back, and the Eagles may get a breakout campaign from 2023 first-round pick Nolan Smith Jr.
However, the prediction here is that Philly's newcomer leads the team in sacks this season. For Huff, it will be a matter of opportunity—something he only received sparingly in New York.
Last season, Huff only played 42 percent of the Jets' defensive snaps. Even as a part-time player, though, he managed to tally 10 sacks and 33 quarterback pressures. He may not be a true every-down player under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio early on.
"It will be a work in progress. Does he look like he can do it today? No. I do think he eventually will," Fangio said in July of Huff becoming a three-down player, per a team transcript (h/t Grant Gordon of NFL.com).
However, Huff should become more than just a situational edge-rusher as the season progresses. He should have a career year and show why the Eagles were willing to move on from Reddick.
Stat Prediction: 35 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, 15 tackles for loss
