B/R's Week 13 PPR Fantasy Football Player Rankings

Nico Collins
Nico Collins

It's Thanksgiving Week, which means food—lots and lots of food. It also means time well spent with family and friends. It means three NFL games on Thursday and another on Friday.

And in fantasy football leagues, it means the playoffs are right around the corner.

Some fortunate fantasy managers are sitting pretty at 9-3 or even 10-2. They are worried less about making the playoffs and more about securing a Round 1 bye. For some others, there will be no playoffs. But Week 13 isn't just about playing out the string. There's the opportunity to play spoiler and ruin the postseason aspirations of someone else.

What? It's fun.

Then there's the crowd of fantasy managers hovering around .500. For them, the playoffs have started even before the playoffs start. Every game now is potentially an elimination game. Win and move on. Lose, and you're off to Spoilerville to play out the string.

Regardless of the individual circumstances, every fantasy manager shares the same goal this week—and it isn't to eat 11 pounds of turkey. They want a win. Need a win.

We're here to help them get one with position-by-position PPR rankings, matchups to exploit and avoid, and a look at the top 100 overall players for Week 13.

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield
Baker Mayfield

There wasn't exactly a stampede to draft Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in fantasy leagues over the summer. In more than a few leagues, Mayfield wasn't drafted at all.

The managers who spent a late pick or used a waiver claim on the former No. 1 overall pick got one of fantasy football's best values at the position in 2024.

After throwing for 294 yards last week against the New York Giants (with a rushing touchdown), Mayfield ranks fourth for the season in fantasy points among quarterbacks—just ahead of Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.

You read that right—for the season, Mayfield has more fantasy points than the first signal-caller drafted in most leagues this year. Now, that may not hold all the way through the end of the fantasy season, but Mayfield should once again be a rock-solid fantasy option in Week 13.

Sunday the Buccaneers face a Carolina Panthers team that ranks inside the top five in fantasy points per game surrendered to quarterbacks.

GOOD MATCHUPS

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans (at JAX) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]

Stroud has struggled with turnovers of late—he has thrown five interceptions over the past three games and almost twice as many this year as during his rookie season. But he should rebound in Week 13—no team in the league has surrendered more fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season than the Jaguars.

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers (at CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]

Wilson's numbers last week in Cleveland weren't great, although the weather could have played a part in that. This week, the Steelers square off with a Bengals team that has struggled in pass defense at times—for the season the Bengals have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

BAD MATCHUPS

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,000]

Burrow is almost impossible to even consider sitting—the 27-year-old has topped 350 passing yards twice in his last three games, with 12 touchdown passes over that span. But this week Burrow and the Bengals face a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks in 2024.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (vs. MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value $6,300]

The Packers pummeled the San Francisco 49ers last week, but Love's numbers weren't all that great—163 passing yards and two touchdown passes. The young quarterback could be headed for another week of modest numbers—the Dolphins rank eighth in the league against the pass and are a bottom-five fantasy matchup for the position.

SLEEPER

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (vs. TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,700]

Don't look now, but over his past three starts Young has actually looked like a competent NFL starter—including a season-high 263 yards and a touchdown last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Buccaneers have been a plus fantasy matchup for quarterbacks this season, giving up the fourth-most passing yards per game in the league.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley

Fantasy managers who have rostered Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley have likely already had a successful 2024 season.

Last Sunday night in Los Angeles, the party kicked into overdrive.

Against the Rams, Barkley carried the ball 26 times for a franchise-record 255 yards and two scores, averaging almost 10 yards a carry. His two touchdowns were from 70 and 72 yards out. Add in Barkley's 47 receiving yards, and the 27-year-old surpassed 300 total yards.

For his part, Barkley was quick to credit Philly's offensive line while talking to reporters.

"These guys here are amazing," Barkley said. "They make my job a lot easier. I'm probably gonna get a lot of credit, but in reality, the beauty of this game is that it's a team game."

For the game, Barkley tallied a ridiculous 46.2 PPR fantasy points, and 12 weeks in he's the highest-scoring running back in fantasy football.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,800]

Irving had himself a day last week against the New York Giants, piling up over 150 yards, finding the end zone and surpassing 25 PPR points. Now Irving and the Buccaneers face Carolina's tissue-paper run defense—the Panthers have allowed over 160 yards per game on the ground and the most PPR points per game to running backs.

Joe Mixon, Houston Texans (at JAX) [DraftKings DFS Value: $8,000]

Mixon has been consistently excellent most of the 2024 season, but his Week 12 line was a clunker with just 22 yards on 14 carries against the Tennessee Titans. Look for Mixon to rebound Sunday against the lowly Jaguars. Jacksonville has given up over 135 yards per game on the ground and the most PPR points in the AFC to running backs this season.

BAD MATCHUPS

James Conner, Arizona Cardinals (at MIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,600]

Conner is coming off a down game. Though his five receptions salvaged at least some fantasy value, he had just eight rushing yards on seven carries. He may beat that number this week, but the Vikings have been a hard team to run on in 2024—Minnesota leads the NFC in run defense at just 74.7 yards per game.

D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears (at DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]

Swift was relatively quiet last week in a bad fantasy matchup against the aforementioned Minnesota Vikings. That slump may well continue into Week 13, as the Lions have surrendered less than 95 yards per game on the ground, and no team in the NFC has allowed fewer PPR points per game to running backs this year.

SLEEPER

Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots (at IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]

Gibson actually out-snapped Rhamondre Stevenson, although that likely has something to do with the 31-0 lead the Miami Dolphins built up in the game. Still, if the Patriots are moving toward more of a committee attack, that could mean good things for Gibson against a Colts defense giving up 142.6 yards per game on the ground.

WEEK 13 RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

1. Saquon Barkley, PHI (at BAL)

2. Joe Mixon, HOU (at JAX)

3. Christian McCaffrey, SF (at BUF)

Wide Receivers

Ja'Marr Chase
Ja'Marr Chase

It has been something of a weird season at wide receiver in fantasy football. The game's supposedly "safe" position has hit hard by injuries to big names. Poor quarterback play has kept others in check.

But after 12 weeks, barring something unforeseen, we do know at least one thing.

In 2024, it's Ja'Marr Chase's world—every other wideout is just living in it.

Chase has been a machine this year, both for the Bengals and fantasy managers. The 24-year-old is one of four wide receivers with 100 targets or more this season. Only CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys has more receptions. Chase is the first player at his position to surpass 1,000 yards for the season. Chase's 12 touchdowns are twice as many as any other receiver in the AFC. Not only is he the only wide receiver in the AFC with 200 PPR points, but he's the only receiver in the NFL who has already surpassed 250.

Barring an injury, there's little point in chasing him (see what I did there?).

Chase is going to be fantasy's top wide receiver in 2024.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals (at MIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]

Harrison hasn't been as prolific as many fantasy managers expected in 2024, and the uber-talented rookie ranks outside the top 25 wideouts for the season in PPR points. But Week 13 sets up well for Harrison to have himself a day. As well as the Vikings have played the run this season, they are the only NFC team giving up 40 PPR points per game to wide receivers.

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers (at ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]

McConkey has wasted no time becoming Justin Herbert's go-to wide receiver for the Chargers this season, and after a slow start, the L.A. passing game has picked it up of late. The Falcons have been kind to opposing wide receivers this year, surrendering the fourth-most PPR points per game to the position in 2024.

BAD MATCHUPS

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders (vs. TEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100]

McLaurin had a big game against the Dallas Cowboys last week, but most of that damage was done on an 86-yard touchdown grab late in the game. Now the reeling Commanders take on a Tennessee Titans team giving up the fewest passing yards per game in the NFL and the third-fewest PPR points per game to wide receivers.

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks (at NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]

Not much has gone right for the New York Jets this season, but the pass defense has been a bright spot. New York is one of two teams giving up fewer than 175 yards per game through the air this year. The Jets are also dead last in PPR points per game given up to wide receivers this season, and Metcalf will likely draw Sauce Gardner in coverage.

SLEEPER

Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers (vs. TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,800]

Thielen's first game back after a long stint on injured reserve was a modest one—three catches on four targets for 57 yards on four targets. But Bryce Young looked the veteran's way a lot last year, Young has played arguably the best football of his NFL career the past few weeks, and the Buccaneers have allowed the seventh-most PPR points to game to wide receivers this season.

WEEK 13 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

1. Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (vs. PIT)

2. A.J. Brown, PHI (at BAL)

3. Justin Jefferson, MIN (vs. ARI)

Tight Ends

T.J. Hockenson
T.J. Hockenson

The tight end position has been chaos this year. Big names have failed to meet expectations. No-names have become weekly starters. Injuries have taken the same toll at tight end as at the other positions.

But in Week 12 at least, we got the opposite—a big name returning to fantasy prominence.

After opening the season on injured reserve as he rehabbed the ACL tear that ended his 2023 campaign, T.J. Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings played in his fourth game of the season Sunday in Chicago. It was his best effort of the season—seven catches on nine targets for 114 yards in an overtime win.

It marked the second time in three weeks that Hockenson has surpassed 15 PPR points, and he played a season-high 68 percent of the offensive snaps. For fantasy managers who held Hockenson in the hopes of a late-season surge, it appears their gamble is paying off.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots (vs. IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,200]

Trusting any Patriots pass-catcher in a must-win game isn't especially easy to do. But Henry is fantasy football's eighth-ranked tight end for the season, and the Colts have been a strong matchup for his position. Indianapolis has surrendered the sixth-most PPR points per game to tight ends in 2024.

Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,500]

With Mike Evans back in the Buccaneers lineup last week, Otton's production free-fell—just one catch on three targets for 30 yards. Still, Otton shouldn't completely vanish from the Tampa offense, and for the season no team in the league is allowing more PPR points per game to tight ends than the Panthers.

BAD MATCHUPS

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (vs. PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900]

Andrews has been quite the adventure for fantasy managers this season—as likely to find the end zone as he is to completely disappear from the stat sheet. This weekend's matchup with the Eagles makes the latter more likely than the former, as Philadelphia is giving up less than 8.5 PPR points per game to the position on average.

Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. HOU) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,800]

There are multiple things working against Engram this week. The first is that Mac Jones has been mostly awful since taking over at quarterback for the injured Trevor Lawrence. The Texans also aren't giving up a lot of fantasy points to tight ends in 2024—no team in the AFC has surrendered fewer PPR points per game to the position.

SLEEPER

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (at CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,500]

Freiermuth has been mostly quiet this season. He's surpassed 10 PPR points in a game just three times this season and hasn't hit 60 yards in a game. However, the Bengals have given up more PPR points per game to tight ends than any team in the AFC—almost 16 points per contest on average.

WEEK 13 TIGHT END RANKINGS

1. Travis Kelce, KC (vs. LV)

2. Brock Bowers, LV (at KC)

3. Trey McBride, ARI (at MIN)

Kickers and Team Defenses

Micah Parsons
Micah Parsons

In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys defense was the highest-scoring fantasy defense in the NFC. Dallas piled up 46 sacks, amassed 26 takeaways and tallied a whopping six defensive touchdowns.

In 2024? Yeah, um, no. Like so many things in Dallas this year, the Cowboys have struggled defensively. Headed into last week, the team had the fourth-fewest fantasy points among defenses in the NFL.

However, last week against the Washington Commanders, it was a much different story. Dallas sacked Jayden Daniels four times, forced three turnovers and returned not one but two kickoffs for touchdowns.

It was a reminder of how wildly unpredictable team defenses can be in fantasy football and of the impact they can have.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Spencer Shrader, Kansas City Chiefs (vs. LV)

Pressed into service for the Chiefs by an injury to Harrison Butker, Shrader has yet to miss a field goal or point-after try. On Friday, Shrader and the Chiefs face a Las Vegas Raiders team that leads the league in fantasy points per game allowed to kickers in 2024.

Washington Commanders Defense (at TEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,400]

The Commanders haven't been all that productive defensively in 2024. The team ranks outside the top 20 in fantasy points for the season, but matchups are king where fantasy defenses are concerned, and no team has surrendered more points to the position than the Titans.

BAD MATCHUPS

Chad Ryland, Arizona Cardinals (at MIN)

Ryland has connected on 13 field-goal attempts in seven games with the Cardinals this season. But points could be hard to come by in Week 13, as the Minnesota Vikings have given up less than five fantasy points per game to kickers this season.

Philadelphia Eagles Defense (at BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,600]

The Eagles lead the NFL in total defense and rank third against the pass, but the Ravens have been an offensive machine this season. Baltimore leads the league in yards per game and paces the AFC in points per game.

SLEEPER

New York Jets Defense (vs. SEA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,500]

The Jets are a disaster as a team in 2024, but New York quietly ranks eighth in total defense for the season. The Seahawks have been a solid fantasy matchup for the position this year, surrendering the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position.

WEEK 13 KICKER RANKINGS

Top 100 Players Overall/"Flex" Rankings

Puka Nacua
Puka Nacua

Before we get to the Top 100 Players Overall for PPR fantasy football leagues in Week 13 (a list that can aid in making "Flex" decisions), the always-popular must-read weekly whatnots.

First, there are no quarterbacks in the overall rankings. If you play in a "Superflex" league and have a viable second signal-caller, that quarterback should likely be in that slot. With all 32 teams in action this week, the odds are better than in past weeks that said viable QB2 exists.

Of course, this is also a week where Tommy "Jersey Mike's" DeVito is starting, so there's that.

Second, while I hope these rankings are a useful tool for fantasy managers each week, they are not stone tablets brought down from on high. The only person who has to live with the lineup decisions you make in this critical week is you. If you're convinced that Michael Pittman Jr. of the Indianapolis Colts is a better start at wide receiver than Xavier Legette of the Carolina Panthers, then start Pittman.

There's nothing worse than talking yourself out of starting a player only to see them blow up that weekend.

That will give you indigestion quicker than Aunt Louise's mystery casserole.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
