The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers were among the preseason Super Bowl favorites entering 2023, and they will face off in Super Bowl LVIII.

Because there isn't a surprise participant in this year's Super Bowl—which is a rematch of Super Bowl LIV—some casual fans may be less interested than in years past, when the big game featured the upstart Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles.

However, it's still set to be a thrilling matchup between two of the most complete rosters in the NFL. Both teams feature top-tier defenses, Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks and skill players galore.

Fans looking to make things a little more interesting can always look to place a few wagers too. With this in mind, let's dive into the latest odds, some box score predictions and a few player props to consider.

The Chiefs are +235 (bet $100 to win $235) to score a touchdown on their opening drive. As far as box score bets go, this is one we like a lot.

The 49ers have the league's third-ranked scoring defense, but they've had issues, especially early in the postseason. Last week, the Detroit Lions scored a touchdown on their opening drive, and the Green Bay Packers got a field goal on their opening drive the week before.

Kansas City, meanwhile, has been hot at the start of games throughout the playoffs. The Chiefs scored a touchdown to open the game against the Miami Dolphins, got a field goal on the opening drive against the Buffalo Bills and scored a touchdown to kick off the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Coach Andy Reid is among the NFL's best at identifying weaknesses in opposing defenses and scripting plays to exploit them. He'll recognize how the Packers and Lions attacked San Francisco with the ground game and spacing-based receiver patterns and do the same to open the game.

The 49ers defense may eventually adapt, as the Ravens did last week. But fans should expect Kansas City to find offensive success early.

Travis Kelce Over 6.5 Receptions

While the 49ers have appeared most vulnerable to the run during the postseason, teams have found ways to poke holes in San Francisco's secondary. Expect star tight end Travis Kelce to be a huge part of Kansas City's game plan in this one.

As Patrick Mahomes' favorite target, Kelce regularly serves as the centerpiece of the Chiefs passing attack. The 49ers won't be caught off-guard, and they'll likely have a plan for limiting Kelce's overall production.

With standout linebackers like Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, the 49ers are better equipped than most teams to cover Kelce in the intermediate zones. However, Kelce has an uncanny ability to find open areas down field, and Mahomes knows exactly when to let the football fly.

The Ravens featured the league's top-ranked defense in net yards per pass attempt allowed. Yet, Kelce and Mahomes still connected on 11 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Kelce's ability to attack all areas of the field makes him virtually impossible to erase, and he's averaged 7.6 catches per game this postseason.

Kelce is -160 (bet $160 to win $100) to hit the over on this receptions prop, and he's extremely likely to do so.

Deebo Samuel Over 14.5 Rushing Yards

While Mahomes, Reid, Kelce and the Chiefs offense have long carried Kansas City to contention, things have been a bit different this year. The Chiefs are still dangerous on offense, but their second-ranked defense has led the way for most of the season.

The 49ers may have to get creative offensively next Sunday, both to counter Kansas City's defense and to make things a little easier on second-year quarterback Brock Purdy.

Expect do-it-all receiver Deebo Samuel to play a massive role in San Francisco's game plan. One of the best after-the-catch receivers in football, Samuel is also tremendously capable as a ball carrier. He's averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per carry as a pro.

Samuel has only carried the ball three times for seven yards this postseason, but he also suffered a shoulder injury in the divisional round. He'll be another two weeks removed from the injury by Super Bowl Sunday, and the 49ers would be wise to get the ball in his hands as often as possible.

Kansas City has been vulnerable to the run (24th in yards per carry allowed) when teams are willing to stick with it. Attacking the Chiefs with Samuel and Christian McCaffrey on the ground would be a logical approach.

Samuel is -110 (bet $110 to win $100) to reach 15 rushing yards, and he should receive the rushing opportunities needed to get there.
