Buy or Sell Latest WWE WrestleMania 41 Match Rumors, Internal SmackDown Bashing, More

The pro wrestling rumor mill hits an annual peak around WrestleMania time and doesn’t really let up.
For one, the build to ‘Mania always creates a tidal wave of rumors around plans, results, and appearances. Then, around the Raw after ‘Mania, that upticks even more as fallouts from plans and matches and where things might go in the new “season” add to the mix.
Right now, this particular rumor mill is even wilder than usual after the historical heel turn by John Cena. The Rock’s name keeps floating around too for good measure to really up the ante. Tack on the usual speculated plans for title matches and such, too.
In an effort to help fans keep pace, here’s a look at the most notable rumors making the rounds and whether fans should buy or sell on each item.
Bron Breakker Plans?

The Rumor
What to do with Bron Breakker? According to Fightful Select (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the current ‘Mania plan is a fatal 4-way match for his Intercontinental title, which means defending against Penta, Finn Bálor, and Dominik Mysterio.
Reaction
Meh. This is WWE’s standard course at ‘Mania when it comes to not having enough space on cards for all the Superstars they want to fit on a show. Bálor and Mysterio might be more interesting as a singles match, but involving too many in this title match could at least help everyone look strong.
Buy or Sell?
Easy buy, if not unfortunate. Maybe WWE shocks and gives fans a Mysterio cheating win or something. But it feels like this will just be a nice resume builder for Breakker and a way to give everyone a little ‘Mania shine.
John Cena Odds on the Rise?

The Rumor
The odds just keep swinging in John Cena’s favor, literally. According to Ortman, Cena’s line to win the top title from Rhodes keeps booming as ‘Mania approaches.
Reaction
It’s really hard to get a read on which way WWE will go here. If this is truly Cena’s last ‘Mania, he’d likely go out on his back like the all-time greats while putting over Rhodes. But it would feel short-lived and stunted for him to come up short now after the heel turn.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. The longer one looks at this, the more it feels like Cena will win. Nobody else is established enough to take down Rhodes after he ended Roman Reigns’ historic title run. Cena at the top as a heel for a while does much, much more for the next guy to beat him and send him into retirement, too.
Drew McIntyre Hints at The Rock Plans

The Rumor
What’s the plan for The Rock? Drew McIntyre apparently teased (h/t Ortman) that “something big” is in the works for Rock ahead of ‘Mania.
Reaction
This is a confusing one. Is McIntyre clued in on plans? Or just hyping an event for his company? Or possibly even involved with Rock himself at ‘Mania in some way after a lukewarm few months for himself? Impossible to say, but it certainly earns a raise of the eyebrow.
Buy or Sell?
Sell. WWE has on-and-off-again teased Rock for this year’s ‘Mania. Then the man himself appeared to write himself out of most storylines during Raw’s debut on Netflix. He’s still loosely involved with Cena, obviously, but when fans hear comments like this, it tends to make them think he’s in a match. That’s highly unlikely, with Rock’s involvement surely just a segment or two.
SmackDown Slander?

The Rumor
It’s not a secret that SmackDown has been struggling lately. According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Ortman), whispers about the blue brand’s show quality have been making the rounds within WWE, with some “wondering why more talent isn’t being used” on the show, too.
Reaction
Unfortunately, this one wasn’t too hard to see coming. As soon as WWE revealed that Raw would move to Netflix, it became pretty clear which one would serve as the “B” brand on a weekly basis.
Buy or Sell?
Buy. There are ways for WWE to solve this, with simply using more of the stacked roster as the obvious layup. But for whatever reason, the three-hour runtime of weekly shows continues to be a problem the company just hasn’t been able to solve.
Evolution PLE Returning?

The Rumor
The all-women’s Evolution PLE is on its way back to WWE, with WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman) reporting that the company intends to make the big reveal before WrestleMania 41.
Reaction
This has been a long time coming. The first event in 2018 was a fun mini-WrestleMania sort of card that featured everyone from major current stars like Becky Lynch to up-and-comers like Rhea Ripley and appearances from the likes of Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella.
Buy or Sell?
Easiest buy of the week. All these years later, the historic women’s division is deeper than it has ever been. Even without one-off appearances by former greats, the current main roster could put on show-of-the-year material on any given night. A show like this in 2025 would be a perfect spot for ‘Mania continuations featuring the likes of Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, Bianca Belair and others, to name just a few.
Saraya Back to WWE?

The Rumor
The latest on Saraya might feel predictable for some fans. According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer (h/t Ortman), Saraya is likely on her way back to WWE after announcing her departure from AEW.
Reaction
Saraya herself commented on the idea of a WWE return recently, hitting listeners with the expected “never say never” theme that pro wrestlers always throw out. She also waxed poetic about the Paige character, understandably, too.
Buy or Sell?
Even without Saraya’s comments, this is one of the easiest buys in months. The return of Paige to WWE always sort of felt like a matter of time and it’s downright thrilling to think about what she can do in a dramatically different women’s division and WWE as a whole upon arrival.
