Bron Breakker Perfect Fit with Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, More Raw After 'Mania Takes

The April 21 edition of WWE Raw at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas lived up to the legacy of the night after WrestleMania, delivering more shocking twists and turns than even The Show of Shows itself.
Paul Heyman reaffirmed his commitment to making Seth Rollins the new top star in WWE, and he found backup with Bron Breakker helping take out Roman Reigns and CM Punk.
John Cena appeared for the first time since capturing his 17th world championship, but he found resistance from longtime rival Randy Orton.
Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria unsuccessfully defended the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships in a rematch with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The Man then turned on The Valkyrie.
While Jey Uso celebrated his World Heavyweight Championship win with Jimmy Uso and a returning Sami Zayn, Gunther blamed the commentators for his failure and choked out Pat McAfee with a sleeper hold.
Rusev made his return to WWE by laying out Alpha Academy, trapping Otis in the Accolade.
This was a big night of action elevated even more by wild story beats that will define WWE for months to come.
Bron Breakker Is the Perfect Paul Heyman Guy
Paul Heyman has made his mark as a manager by elevating good talent to great, and his next two clients fit that mold perfectly.
Seth Rollins is one of WWE's top guys but reached his ceiling as a scrappy babyface in 2024. He needs fresh direction much like Roman Reigns did before his Tribal Chief run.
The Visionary will get that with Heyman speaking on his behalf at times and working to get him favorable opportunities on Raw in the coming year.
More importantly, Bron Breakker was a talented man without direction after losing the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Heyman has stepped in to become his advocate and take him to the next level. He is the closest The Advocate has had to replacement for Brock Lesnar, a genetic freak with unreal athleticism.
While Breakker can talk, he can let one of the all-time greats put him over in a big way and focus first and foremost on in-ring dominance.
He and Heyman have interacted in the past but never like this. It was an inevitable outcome with massive upside for all involved.
Randy Orton Is Wrong Pick for John Cena's First Challenger
John Cena needed to open the show after the end of WrestleMania 41 on Sunday, but it would have worked much better to use this moment to elevate a young talent over Randy Orton.
The Viper and The Last Real Champion have plenty of history. Their battles have been talked about as legend for the past decade.
Despite their shared history, though, they have never clicked as in-ring opponents. They need flashy rivals to thrive, and neither is flashy on his own.
This will be a battle of nostalgia, possibly elevated for a crowd excited about the legacy of the two men.
But this kind of booking is hardly an exciting prospect for what Cena's final world title reign can be.
This was a chance to put someone like LA Knight, Damian Priest, Penta, Rey Fenix or a returning Sami Zayn up against Cena.
Elevate a star with many years left to give to the business who can give Cena a good fight and put him over as a dominant world champion.
If the Orton match needs to happen, WWE must spend more time building it up and the potential of The Viper dethroning Cena to get closer to eclipsing his world title record.
WWE Books Jey Uso-Gunther Aftermath Perfectly
After a definitive loss to Jey Uso, Gunther did not need to interact with him again so soon. To keep The Ring General strong, though, he needed to make a statement.
He did that be threatening commentator Michael Cole and choking out Pat McAfee. This was the way to sell that he is not done playing the monster heel.
Gunther vs. McAfee is a smart match to book, given the former NFL punter's history in the squared circle. He will make The Ring General look great.
Meanwhile, Uso can run with the gold, first standing tall as champion this week, next finding his first challenger.
A returning Sami Zayn could be a fun obstacle, giving him a good match and playing into both men's quest for gold and credibility.
Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker will certainly pose a dangerous challenge as well when the time is right.
There is also unfinished business with Drew McIntyre that could play out assuming a future WWE draft moves The Scottish Warrior back to Raw.
The best option for both Uso and Gunther is to stay away from each other for a while. If they eventually come back together, they should collide in an intense stipulation match to finalize the rivalry.
WWE Has Already Fumbled Becky Lynch Return
On night one of Becky Lynch's return, she helped Lyra Valkyria take down Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to capture the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.
On night two, they lost the tag team gold back to the former champions, and The Man turned on her former protege.
It was an odd booking web that also included Bayley missing the 'Mania match she was promised.
What was the point beyond pure shock value? If Lynch was going to return to help Valkyria, they should have stayed a tag team for at least a couple months.
This booking devalues the already mostly forgotten women's tag team titles by playing with an unnecessary hot potato.
The Man's return feels eerily similar to her last heel return when she defeated Bianca Belair in seconds to capture the Raw Women's Championship.
This time, she looks poised to take down Valkyria and capture the Women's Intercontinental Championship soon.
Hopefully, that is not the immediate goal because it would devalue the new championship Valkyria has tried to establish as the workhorse title for underused talent.
The Key to Booking Rusev Better After WWE Return
Rusev is back, and he was instantly set up as a destructive force by taking out Otis on Monday night.
It is unlikely this is setting up a rivalry with Alpha Academy, but the stage has not been set for a strong rivalry otherwise.
However, a feud with Otis and Akira Tozawa could allow Rusev to begin picking up wins and building early momentum.
It is important to make The Bulgarian Brute look like a monster and stay dominant. His character has always been built on an air of dominance, including his recent run in All Elite Wrestling as Miro.
It can be difficult to protect a talent consistently, but giving Rusev only sparing losses in the right stories will elevate him and his rivals down the line.
Rusev Day is every day once more in WWE, and on Rusev Day, Rusev must win.
