WWE NXT Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights from April 29

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on April 29.
Here's a look at what WWE advertised for Tuesday's show:
—Iyo Sky comes to NXT
—Ricky Saints vs. Lexis King
—Hank and Tank vs. Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura
—Tony D confronts Stacks
—Shawn Michaels invites Joe Hendry to NXT
Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's episode of NXT.
🎶 Say His Name and He Appears🎶

After a recap video, Joe Hendry opened the show with his entrance, which means he obviously accepted Shawn Michaels' invitation to appear this week. He cut a promo ripping into Trick Williams.
He called out Trick, but DarkState showed up in the crowd instead. They attacked the TNA champion as their music played and the lights flashed in the arena. They hit their signature powerbomb to take him out.
This was a pretty brief and to-the-point segment. It was nothing special, but everyone played their parts. DarkState still looks like an unpredictable threat while Hendry looks like a champion willing to defend his promotion's honor. It worked.
Grade: B
Ricky Saints vs. Lexis King (north American Title)

This was going to be a Title vs. Heritage Cup match, but King lost the cup to Noam Dar last week, so Saints was the only one putting a prize on the line in the opening match.
King tried to get an early advantage before the champion even had time to remove his vest, but Saints immediately fired back at him and took control. King took advantage of him taking a moment to remove his vest to regain the upper hand.
The crowd was loud for this match and chanted in between reacting to just about every move they performed. Saints did an especially good job playing into it.
These two worked together once before in AEW, but this was the first time they have ever met in a singles bout. They worked together to put on a fun match that didn't overstay its welcome. They kept a brisk pace and both men got in a good amount of offense.
Saints won the match to retain his title with his Roshambo finisher.
Result: Saints defeated King
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—Having King agree to defend his cup against Saints and then having him immediately lose it to someone else first was such an odd booking decision.
—It took Saints a couple of minutes to take his vest off.
—They timed it pretty well to come back from a break right as both men hit a crossbody at the same time.
Sol Ruca vs. Karmen Petrovic

Tony D came out and had some generic cronies on the apron for this meeting with Stacks. He talked about feeling betrayed after giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Stacks appeared on the screen and gave his justification before he had a bunch of guys try to attack The Don. He sent them all packing and said if Stacks wants to take him down, he has to do it himself.
After a break, Sol Ruca took on Karmen Petrovic in a non-title match. Both women had support with Zaria accompanying Ruca and Ashante Thee Adonis at Petrovic's side.
Both of these women are young and hungry, so they always tend to bring everything they have to the ring. These two have worked together as tag partners in the past, and they have been opponents. Combine that with training together at the PC and you have two people who know each other well.
This wasn't a long match, but they brought a lot of energy to the time they were given. Ruca won with the Sol Snatcher. When Adonis tried to lecture Karmen, she kicked him in the face and left him in the ring as the crowd chanted "One more time."
Result: Ruca defeated Petrovic
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
—The way Ashante was talking to Karmen before the match was uncomfortable to watch, but it was obviously leading to a breakup angle.
—The fact that Ruca can hit the Sol Snatcher with such a high rate of success is impressive because that has to be one of the hardest finishers to perform in WWE right now.
Hank and Tank vs. Inamura and Briggs (NXT Tag Titles)

Williams came out to respond to what Hendry said earlier in the show. He admitted Hendry had his number, but he said it won't be the same when he fights him for the TNA title. Ava came out and criticized him for his actions.
She said next week would have a 25-man Battle Royal for a shot at the NXT title at Battleground, so if he wants his title shot, he has to earn it. Up next were Hank and Tank to defend the NXT tag titles against Briggs and Inamura.
With Inamura heading back to NOAH in Japan soon, this match seemed like a foregone conclusion. Inamura immediately bulldozed over Tank to get the match going.
They had a great exchange that lasted a couple of minutes before Briggs got the tag. He and Inamura brought a lot of intensity to this match to make it look like this was an important opportunity for them.
This was a hard-hitting and entertaining match that made it look like Briggs and Inamura were the heavy favorites to win at different points, but Hank and Tank ultimately retained the titles in the end.
Result: Hank and Tank defeated Briggs and Inamura
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
—Williams getting acting roles so early in his career is great for him, but it will be interesting to see if he finds enough success to leave the ring behind, or if he even wants to.
—The Undertaker showed up backstage with some guys from LFG to talk to Oba Femi for a moment. Taker said they would be coming for him soon.
—Inamura was the star of the tag match. He was all over the place and looked great in the ring.
Roxanne Perez and Giulia vs. Iyo Sky and Jordynne Grace

Grace and Sky took on Perez and Giulia in the main event of the night. They immediately took the fight out of the ring where Sky and Grace took control.
These are four of the best NXT has to offer, so it should come as no surprise that this was a fun and entertaining match.
Perez and Giulia meshed well, but Grace and Sky made for an even better duo. Their styles are so different that they complement each other in a unique way compared to their opponents.
However, Perez and Giulia having more similar skillsets allowed them to hit a couple of cool double-team moves during the second half. This was a strong performance and the right choice to put in the main event.
Grace and Giulia fought in the aisle, leaving Sky to score the win with her signature moonsault to Perez. The show ended with a shot of Ava telling Stephanie Vaquer that her next challenger would be the winner of Giulia vs. Grace next week.
Result: Sky and Grace defeated Perez and Giulia
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
—NXT's commentary is better with three people. Each one brings something a little different.
—Grace has that level of strength where every power move looks easy, especially against opponents who are so much smaller than her.
—Perez deserves a lot of credit for making her heel turn work in the ring. Someone her size would usually be an underdog against everyone, but she finds ways to use her physicality so that nobody ever sees her as being less than her opponents.
—Sky using a backflip to counter a sunset flip was a great spot.
The Final Word

This week's NXT was a pretty standard episode overall. We got a few segments to advance storylines, a couple of decent matches, and a couple of bouts that stood out from everything else.
This week, it was two different tag matches that ended up being the biggest highlights. Briggs and Inamura vs. Hank and Tank, and Sky and Grace vs. Giulia and Perez.
Both of those bouts delivered the best action on the show, but the outcome to the men's tag title bout was about as obvious as it gets due to Inamura's pending exit from NXT back to his home promotion in Japan.
The non-wrestling segments were all fine, but the one with Tony D and Stacks felt lackluster. This is one of the biggest betrayals in recent NXT history, and it felt like the followup to it was filler before we get to the real confrontation.
That small complaint aside, this was a solid episode of NXT that set up some interesting matches for next week with a Battle Royal and Grace vs. Giulia for a shot at the NXT women's title.
