With COVID-19 wiping out several scheduled games, the latest Amway Coaches Poll largely looks the same as the one from last week.

Alabama remains the nation's top-ranked team, followed by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida in an unchanged Top Five.

Here is a look at how the full rankings played out:

1. Alabama

2. Notre Dame

3. Ohio State

4. Clemson

5. Florida

6. Texas A&M

7. Cincinnati

8. BYU

9. Miami

10. Indiana

11. Georgia

12. Wisconsin

13. Oregon

14. Oklahoma State

15. Marshall

16. Iowa State

17. Oklahoma

18. Coastal Carolina

19. USC

20. Northwestern

21. Auburn

22. Liberty

23. Texas

24. North Carolina

25. UL Lafayette

Six games featuring Top 25 teams were postponed or canceled this week, including Alabama-LSU and Ohio State-Maryland. The SEC had more than half of its scheduled slate wiped out over the virus, with the conference scheduling makeup games Dec. 19.

Among the games that were played, the notable results were few and far between. Miami escaped with a 25-24 win over Virginia Tech despite being without 13 players, including three starters, because of COVID-19 restrictions. That was the only game featuring a Top 10 team that was decided by fewer than two scores.

Tulsa's 28-24 win over SMU and Army's surprising 38-12 blowout loss to Tulane were the only upsets of ranked teams this week.

Perhaps the most impressive overall victory came from Wisconsin, which went on the road and earned a 49-11 blowout win over Michigan that took Jim Harbaugh's seat from hot to scorching. The Wolverines trailed 28-0 at halftime, the largest halftime deficit ever at The Big House since the stadium opened in 1927.

Michigan has now lost three straight games since an impressive 49-24 win over Minnesota in its season opener.

"The thing that stands out the most is the coaching ... making sure that [the players] have an understanding of what to do and, therefore, they can go for it," Harbaugh told reporters. "Because there seems to be hesitation, there seems to be some confusion, some lack of communication on both sides of the ball, offensively and defensively, and getting things adjusted to, getting things fixed, just identifying how to improve in those areas are some of the first things that we're going to address."

Wisconsin moved up two slots to No. 12 with the victory. Northwestern's three-spot leap to No. 20 was the largest of any team this week.

No. 24 North Carolina and No. 25 UL Lafayette moved into the Top 25.

Alabama returned to its familiar spot atop the Associated Press' Top 25 poll for Week 11 after No. 1 Clemson was upset by No. 4 Notre Dame on Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide last held the top spot in the AP college football rankings in Week 9 of the 2019 season, which almost amounts to a drought for the country's most consistent title contender. They're followed by Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A&M in the top five.

Clemson's loss to the Fighting Irish comes with an asterisk since superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed the contest after a positive COVID-19 test. The Tigers may get a chance at revenge against Notre Dame in the ACC Championship Game, so their College Football Playoff hopes are still alive.

Here's a look at the complete Top 25 released Sunday:

1. Alabama (59 first-place votes)

2. Notre Dame (2)

3. Ohio State (1)

4. Clemson

5. Texas A&M

6. Florida

7. Cincinnati

8. BYU

9. Miami

10. Indiana

Alabama, which was on its bye in Week 10, has been dominant so far in 2020. The Tide have posted a 6-0 record while outscoring opponents 283-132. They also picked up statement wins over No. 3 Georgia and No. 13 Texas A&M in October.

Bama head coach Nick Saban didn't enter the open week satisfied, however, saying the team could improve its "consistency in performance" before the stretch run of the regular season.

"If everybody can just improve 1 percent in a whole bunch of areas, it would make a tremendous impact on the whole team," Saban told reporters.

The Tide travel to Death Valley for a rivalry clash with LSU on Saturday.

Meanwhile, big winners other than Notre Dame in Week 10 included Florida, BYU and Indiana.

The Gators scored a 44-28 road upset over Georgia on the strength of 474 passing yards and four touchdowns by quarterback Kyle Trask. Florida has a favorable schedule the rest of the way, making it the favorite to finish atop the SEC East.

BYU continued to impress as it easily rolled past No. 21 Boise State, 51-17. The Cougars are 8-0 with a plus-251 point differential, and they'll be a sizable favorite in their final two games of the regular season against North Alabama and San Diego State.

The Hoosiers sent No. 23 Michigan into an even bigger tailspin with a 38-21 victory. IU, which upset No. 8 Penn State in its opener, is one of the nation's surprise teams so far, but road games against Ohio State and Wisconsin in the coming weeks will be the true tests.

Coastal Carolina (7-0), Marshall (6-0) and Liberty (7-0) are among the undefeated smaller programs that also deserve some recognition in a college football season unlike any other.

Looking ahead, Week 11 is short on elite head-to-head matchups, with the meeting between Alabama and LSU likely taking center stage because of the teams' long history.

Otherwise the focus will be on potential upsets that could shake up the College Football Playoff race.

College football has a new No. 1 team.

Alabama ascended to the top spot in the latest Amway Coaches Poll after Clemson's double-overtime loss to Notre Dame, with the Irish moving into the second spot. Ohio State, Clemson and Florida round out the Top Five.

Here is how the entire Top 25 played out.

1. Alabama

2. Notre Dame

3. Ohio State

4. Clemson

5. Florida

6. Texas A&M

7. Cincinnati

8. BYU

The Irish's 47-40 win over top-ranked Clemson was one of the strongest of Brian Kelly's tenure in South Bend, though it came with the asterisk of Trevor Lawrence being on the sidelines because of COVID-19.

Ian Book accounted for 378 yards of offense (310 passing, 68 rushing), while Kyren Williams added 140 yards and three scores on the ground. Clemson's defense failed to match the efficiency of its offense, which got a 439-yard, two-touchdown effort from D.J. Uiagalelei in Lawrence's stead. Notre Dame was able to mitigate the run, holding Travis Etienne to 28 yards on 18 carries.

Clemson also lost three fumbles, leading directly to 10 Notre Dame points.

"I will say this: I've been doing this a long time, and I know we made a lot of mistakes and have a lot to improve on, but I have never been more proud of a team," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told reporters. "You can't ask for more. They fought with every ounce they had. Overcame a lot. Obviously got in a big hole. Back-to-back turnovers, scoop-and-score. We've had some really, really tough breaks with that as of late. Three games in a row where we’ve scored for them on offense. We have been able to overcome that, and tonight we weren't."

The week's other major head-to-head clash saw Florida turn in a dominant 44-28 win over Georgia. Kyle Trask threw for 474 yards and four touchdowns, while the Gators defense held Georgia quarterbacks Stetson Bennett and D'Wan Mathis to a ghastly 9-of-29 effort, throwing for 112 yards and three interceptions.

Florida outgained Georgia 571-277 overall.

"It was a big win for us," Florida coach Dan Mullen told reporters. "Anytime you have a Top 10 matchup, those are big games, so I don't know the hump. Hopefully, if we can find a way to continue to improve, we might get more Top 10 matchups as the year goes on, and we'll see how that goes."

The only other Top 25 matchup of the week saw Indiana continue its surprise start to the 2020 season, moving to 3-0 with a 38-21 win over Michigan. The Hoosiers moved up three spots to No. 10.

The latest Associated Press poll featured more changes after several top teams faced significant adversity over the past week.

Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia each survived tough matchups Saturday, while Oklahoma State and Michigan suffered their first losses of the 2020 season. Though those teams still have time to make up for the defeats, it helps narrow the focus of the College Football Playoff during the shortened season.

Here is the latest Top 25 for college football heading into Week 10.

The biggest story across college football was Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence testing positive for COVID-19, which caused him to miss Saturday's game against Boston College and will keep him out of next week's game against Notre Dame, per Andrea Adelson of ESPN.

The Tigers struggled without the Heisman Trophy candidate, trailing 28-13 at halftime Saturday.

Backup quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei turned it on in the second half, however, leading the team to a 34-28 come-from-behind win. The defense also didn't allow any points on all five Eagles second-half drives.

Clemson stayed at No. 1 overall, but the challenge will be keeping it up against No. 4 Notre Dame next week.

"The standard doesn't change," Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott said. "Nobody's going to feel sorry for us. We've all got to be ready. It will be the same situation. Now [Uiagalelei has] got some experience, not going to ask him to go out there and do anything other than just be yourself, manage the plan and make the plays that are there."

Notre Dame breezed through a 31-13 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday, while Alabama easily disposed of Mississippi State in a 41-0 blowout.

Ohio State had a tough matchup against Penn State but wasn't intimidated by the empty Beaver Stadium. Justin Fields totaled 318 passing yards and four touchdowns to help the Buckeyes stay ahead of the Nittany Lions with a 38-25 win.

Oklahoma State wasn't able to survive its difficult challenge against Texas and suffered a 41-34 loss in overtime. Spencer Sanders had 400 passing yards and four touchdowns for the Cowboys and also led a game-tying field-goal drive in the final minute of regulation. However, he couldn't match Texas in overtime:

Though Oklahoma State was the last remaining undefeated team in the Big 12, the loss caused the Cowboys to drop from No. 6 to No. 14.

Michigan was also a big loser on the day while falling from No. 13 to No. 23 in the rankings. The Wolverines appeared to be a legit contender after a blowout win over Minnesota in the first game, but a home loss to rival Michigan State quieted the excitement.

Rocky Lombardi threw three passing touchdowns to lead the Spartans to the upset victory one week after losing to Rutgers.

It was also another strong week for multiple Group of Five teams, including Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina—along with independent BYU—each of which won by more than 30 on Saturday.

No. 9 BYU will face No. 21 Boise State on Friday in what could be one of the bigger games of Week 10 in addition to Clemson-Notre Dame and Florida-Georgia.

The top of the Amway Coaches Poll didn't see much change in Week 10.

Clemson remains the nation's top-ranked team after squeaking by Boston College without Trevor Lawrence, while Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Georgia round out an unchanged Top Five.

It doesn't take long past the top five to see major changes.

Here is a look at how the entire Top 25 played out:

Oklahoma State's 41-34 loss to Texas, which dropped the Cowboys six spots to No. 12, was the most notable result of the week. The Cowboys turned the ball over five times, highlighted by four fumbles, to consistently give Texas short field position.

The Longhorns put up 41 points despite having just 287 total yard of offense.

"As I've said many times before, disciplined football, special teams and turnovers is what determine games until you get to the latter part of the season," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy told reporters. "We failed in those areas today."

North Carolina, Michigan and Kansas State also lost to unranked opponents.

The Tar Heels' hopes of competing against Clemson for an ACC championship all but ended with a frustrating 44-41 loss at Virginia. The Cavaliers, who had lost four straight games, compiled 418 total yards and held the ball for the final 2:51 to get their biggest win of the season.

Quarterback Brennan Armstrong totaled four touchdowns and 274 yards (208 passing, 66 rushing) in an impressive all-around performance.

North Carolina dropped 11 spots to No. 24.

Michigan suffered a similar drop after its own 27-24 home loss to Michigan State, which a week earlier was blown out by Rutgers. Rocky Lombardi compiled 323 passing yards and three touchdowns for the Spartans.

Kansas State dropped out of the Top 25 after a blowout loss to West Virginia, while Penn State also exited the polls after moving to 0-2 with a loss against Ohio State.

The return of the Big Ten created plenty of drama Saturday, leading to some significant shifts in the college football landscape.

Penn State suffered a dramatic overtime loss to Indiana to fall out of the Top 10, while Ohio State proved it was worthy of its early ranking. Clemson, Alabama and Notre Dame all had easy wins as well to stay near the top of the latest Top 25.

The Associated Press poll continues to see significant changes as teams begin their seasons at different times, but the top teams are still separating themselves as the year continues.

Here is a look at the latest rankings heading into Week 9.

The biggest story of Week 8 was undoubtedly the finish between Indiana and Penn State.

After the Hoosiers tied the game with a touchdown and two-point conversion in the final minute of regular, they went for the win in overtime with another two-point conversion. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. took it himself and gave everything he could to get to the edge:

In a heavily debated ruling, officials decided the ball crossed the plane before touching out of bounds, giving Indiana the 36-35 win.

Penn State was ranked No. 8 but fell to No. 18, while Indiana debuted at No. 17 in the new rankings.

Oklahoma State was another Top 10 team that had some trouble Saturday, although the Cowboys pulled out the 24-21 win over Iowa State. Chuba Hubbard again carried the load offensively with 139 rushing yards and a touchdown, while the defense made big plays when needed to hold on for the win and improve to 4-0.

Ohio State had no such trouble in its first game, beating Nebraska 52-17 while scoring 38 of the final 41 points.

Justin Fields completed 20 of his 21 pass attempts, totaling 276 passing yards with two touchdowns, adding another touchdown on the ground. Still, the quarterback wasn't completely satisfied after the game.

"We still have a lot of work to do, but I think we can be really good," Fields said, per Bill Landis of The Athletic.

The Buckeyes jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 after showing what they could do on the field.

Clemson was also able to pull away late for a big victory, turning a 24-14 game at one point into a 47-21 win behind three Travis Etienne touchdowns. Alabama's offense was just as impressive as Najee Harris scored three touchdowns to lead the Crimson Tide to a 48-17 win over Tennessee.

Notre Dame had no issues against Pittsburgh, with Ian Book totaling 312 passing yards and three touchdowns in the 45-3 win.

Michigan began last week No. 18 in the polls but moved up to No. 13 this week after a statement win on the road against Minnesota.

The Wolverines always seem to have high expectations but lived up to them in the first game, rushing for 253 yards and five touchdowns as a team in a 49-24 beatdown over the Golden Gophers. Minnesota was No. 21 but dropped out of the rankings.

The Big Ten will be front and center again next week when Ohio State takes on Penn State next Saturday.

The college football Top 25 came within centimeters of having a quiet week.

Instead, Penn State's shocking upset loss at Indiana helped reconfigure a new-look Coaches Poll.

Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State comprise the top three, with Notre Dame and Georgia rounding out the top five.

Here is how the entire Top 25 played out:

Penn State's controversial loss at Indiana featured one of just two losses to unranked opponents by Top 25 teams. Hoosiers quarterback Michael Penix Jr. edged the ball to the goal line on a game-winning two-point conversion to give Indiana a 36-35 overtime win over the then-No. 8 Nittany Lions. Penix's conversion was the subject of debate—a near 50-50 split among observers—and was upheld because there was not sufficient evidence to overturn the call on the field.

"All I'd seen was an opportunity, an opportunity to go out and show the world what the Indiana Hoosiers are all about," Penix told reporters. "They were playing, man, so we've got to score to win the game, and I wasn't going to let my team down, so I went out and gave it my all."

Penn State played an uncharacteristically sloppy game, turning over the ball three times and committing 10 penalties for 100 yards. The Nittany Lions outgained the Hoosiers 488-211 and held possession for more than 40 minutes but struggled offensively in the first half and could not get critical stops against the Hoosiers when needed down the stretch.

Penn State dropped nine spots to No. 17 while Indiana entered the rankings at No. 19.

Virginia Tech, which dropped out of the Top 25 after losing on the road at Wake Forest, was the only other ranked team to lose against an unranked opponent.

Michigan moved up four spots after blowing out Minnesota, as the Big Ten's return to play helped solidify where the coaches viewed these teams in the rankings.

Losses for two Top Five teams led to significant movement in the latest Associated Press poll

Alabama outlasted Georgia in a battle of Top Three teams, while North Carolina suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Florida State. Clemson was the only top team that didn't have a scare with a blowout victory over Georgia Tech.

Voters were left with significant question marks beyond the top two, especially with the Big Ten and Pac-12 still yet to begin their seasons.

Here is a look at the Top 25 going into Week 8.

Perhaps the most anticipated game on the 2020 schedule took place Saturday as Alabama hosted Georgia. Although some thought this could be the year for the Bulldogs to come away with a win, it was the Crimson Tide who ended up with the 41-24 victory.

Alabama's defense had been inconsistent this year, but the offense proved it was elite with 564 yards from scrimmage. The passing game was especially impressive with top receivers Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle having big games:

After Georgia built a 24-17 lead, Alabama closed with 24 unanswered points, including a 21-0 mark in the second half. Stetson Bennett especially struggled late with three interceptions as Georgia dropped from No. 3 in the rankings to No. 4.

Alabama stays at No. 2 but has already passed what could be its toughest test of the regular season.

Clemson remains No. 1 overall after a 73-7 win over Georgia Tech, led by five passing touchdowns from Trevor Lawrence.

"It's the highest level of football I've seen out of him, but it's what I think he expects and what everybody in our building expects out of him," Tigers offensive coordinator Tony Elliott said of the quarterback, per Andrea Adelson of ESPN.

North Carolina had also looked like an elite team through the first few weeks, although that came to an end Saturday after Florida State handed the ACC rival a 31-28 loss.

Sam Howell had 374 passing yards and three touchdowns for the Tar Heels, but they couldn't stop the Seminoles rushing attack with 241 yards and two touchdowns as a team. North Carolina dropped to No. 14 in the latest rankings.

Notre Dame avoided upset, though the 12-7 win over Louisville certainly wasn't pretty. The No. 3 Fighting Irish will have to be more efficient going forward in order to stay high in the rankings, beginning this week at Pittsburgh.

Week 8 could feature even more drama as the Big Ten begins its season after delays because of the COVID-19 pandemic. No. 5 Ohio State will open Saturday against Nebraska while trying to prove it is a legitimate contender for the College Football Playoff.

A high-scoring week of college football was entertaining for fans and likely agony for plenty of coaches.

Two Top 10 teams suffered losses Saturday, while two other Top 10 squads allowed over 40 points in uneasy wins. Meanwhile, Clemson and Georgia impressed with big wins over quality opponents, helping create a little more clarity in the rankings as the unusual season progresses.

Here is a look at the latest changes to the Associated Press poll.

Clemson hasn't faced too many tough conference tests in recent years, but Miami was expected to present a legitimate challenge in Week 6. The Tigers responded with a relatively easy 42-17 victory.

Heisman Trophy candidate Trevor Lawrence was excellent with 292 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Travis Etienne turned heads with 149 rushing yards, 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

"I can talk superlatives on Trevor Lawrence all day, but Travis Etienne is the guy," Miami coach Manny Diaz said after the game. "He's as good of a college football player as there is in college football."

Hurricanes quarterback D'Eriq King found some room on the ground but was held to just 121 yards on 12-of-28 passing, adding two interceptions with no passing touchdowns. Clemson showed its upside on both offense and defense and proved it should be the No. 1 team in the country.

Miami dropped from No. 7 to No. 13 after the loss.

Georgia also flexed its muscle on both sides of the ball, earning a 44-21 win over Tennessee. Though the game was close at halftime, the Bulldogs had 27 unanswered points in the second half and provided basically no room for Tennessee to move the ball.

It sets up an exciting showdown next Saturday against No. 2 Alabama, which had some trouble in its 63-48 win over Ole Miss.

Led by former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss was impressive offensively but miserable defensively in a record-breaking performance:

The Crimson Tide still survived the upset bid thanks to a five-touchdown day from running back Najee Harris, who also had 206 rushing yards on 23 carries.

Fellow SEC contender Florida also had a high-scoring battle Saturday, although Texas A&M was able to complete the 41-38 upset.

Kellen Mond was the hero for the Aggies, engineering a dramatic come-from-behind win in front of the home fans at Kyle Field.

Even with four touchdown passes from Kyle Trask, Florida suffered its first loss of the year and fell to No. 10 in the rankings. Texas A&M moved up to No. 11 one week after losing to Alabama.

North Carolina also showed it could be a top contender this season, moving up to No. 5 after a 56-45 win over Virginia Tech. Despite defensive struggles, the Tar Heels rushed for 399 yards with five touchdowns in the victory.

It sets up an interesting Week 7 slate of games, led by the Georgia-Alabama battle in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
