KSI Postpones Dillon Danis Boxing Fight Due to Illness; New Date to Be Announced

The BRIT Awards 2025 - Arrivals

KSI will have to wait a while longer to settle his rivalry with Dillon Danis in the boxing ring.

Misfits Boxing announced on Friday that the Unfinished Business event headlined by KSI vs. Danis on March 29 in Manchester, England, has been postponed due to an illness to KSI. The promotion will announce a new date for the event next week.

KSI released a video explaining the situation, saying that he's been ill for "almost three weeks" and he's "never been this ill for this long in my life." He apologized to his fans, Misfits Boxing and DAZN while making it clear that he wants the fight to be rescheduled "because I still want to knock out Dillon Danis, and I didn't train this hard for nothing."

Per MMA Fighting's Mike Heck, this marks the second time that a scheduled fight between KSI and Danis was called off. The two of them were set to face each other in January 2023 before Danis withdrew from the bout.

Both KSI and Danis have been out of the boxing ring for over a year. Neither of them has competed since The Prime Card in October 2023, where KSI lost to Tommy Fury and Danis lost to Logan Paul.

KSI and Danis were together earlier this month for a pre-fight press conference to promote the event. During their faceoff, they exchanged words before KSI slapped Danis hard in the face, forcing security to intervene.

It's clear that KSI and Danis are motivated to settle their differences, so they will likely meet later this year once KSI has recovered.

Jake Paul Hints at Anthony Joshua Boxing Fight in 2026 with Photo of Phone Call

LIVE On Netflix: Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson

Boxing fans might get the opportunity to see Jake Paul fight Anthony Joshua next year.

At least if Paul's call log is any indication.

The former YouTube star turned boxer took to social media Thursday and posted a picture of a phone call he apparently had with Joshua while hinting it could mean a 2026 fight between the two is on the horizon:

Last month, Mike Coppinger of ESPN reported a fight between Paul and Canelo Álvarez was "imminent" before the latter changed his mind and went in a different direction.

"Canelo only fights real fighters," Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, said as Álvarez agreed to a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.

That fight would have given Paul a chance to prove himself against a notable competitor, although a Joshua bout would as well.

There will also be no shortage of storylines, as Paul called Joshua out on an episode of his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast.

"I know my boundaries," he said. "I want to fight Anthony Joshua because I know that I will f----ng beat Anthony Joshua's ass. I know I will beat him. He doesn't have a chin and he has no skill. And he's stiff."

Joshua held the unified world heavyweight title twice in his career, so he would represent more of a challenge than some of the foes Paul has faced throughout his own career.

However, the 35-year-old Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois in his most recent fight in September. Overall, he is 28-4 with 25 knockouts, but he has lost three of his last seven fights and may be past his peak at this stage.

Report: Gervonta Davis-Lamont Roach Jr. Rematch Fight Could Be Held as Soon as June 21

Gervonta Davis v Lamont Roach

Following their fight earlier this month that ended in a controversial majority draw, Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. could have their rematch sooner than expected.

In a follow-up to a report by ESPN's Mike Coppinger that said Davis and Roach "are on course for a summer rematch," Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix noted that the bout "could happen as early as June 21st in Las Vegas."

Davis created controversy in the ninth round of his March 1 fight against Roach when he took a knee after getting hit with a jab. The referee inexplicably chose not to rule it as a knockdown, which would've given Roach a victory on the scorecards. Davis was able to retain his WBA lightweight title when two judges scored the fight 114-114 and the third scored it 115-113 in his favor.

Following an appeal by Roach's team, the New York State Athletic Commission upheld the result of the fight and said Roach's protest was denied because "the bout continued for more than three full rounds after the referee's no knockdown call, and because the boxers necessarily adjusted to the referee's ruling, the referee's call was not outcome-determinative." The commission confirmed that "the most appropriate call … would have been for the referee to determine that Mr. Davis' knee contacting the canvas constituted a knockdown."

Davis is one of the biggest stars in boxing, known for his impressive punching power and his highlight-reel knockouts. However, Roach didn't show any intimidation as he put on a more competitive performance than anyone expected, creating immense intrigue in a potential rematch.

It appears that fans won't have to wait too long to see Davis and Roach run it back, as all signs point to them meeting this summer.

Ryan Garcia, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions Sued Over Scrapped Fight

Devin Haney v Ryan Garcia

Entertainment broadcast company Fanmio is suing boxer Ryan Garcia and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Productions, claiming that he breached his contract by failing to participate in a Dec. 30, 2024, exhibition fight in Tokyo against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo.

Fanmio filed a lawsuit in United States District Court for the Central District of California. The complaint is for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, tortious interference with contract, fraudulent Inducement, fraudulent misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, declaratory judgment and promissory estoppel.

Fanmio released a statement on the matter.

Per ESPN's Mike Coppinger, Garcia pulled out of the event on Dec. 15, 2024, after he suffered "aggravated bilateral wrist pain" during training.

"I've been eagerly preparing for my upcoming exhibition fight in Japan, training hard in Dallas over the past several weeks," Garcia said at the time. "Unfortunately, I sustained a hand injury during training and returned to Los Angeles to be seen by the doctor."

Garcia still remains suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug before his April 2024 match against Devin Haney. Garcia initially won by majority decision before it was ruled a no-contest.

The 26-year-old has since lined up a welterweight boxing match against Rolando "Rolly" Romero in an outdoor Ring Magazine show in Times Square on May 2.

Fanmio's statement, released Friday, claims the following.

"Despite receiving payment and the promotion being well underway, Fanmio was deceived into organizing an event in which Ryan never intended to participate," the statement read. "In addition, Golden Boy Promotions actively worked to sabotage the event. ... Despite Ryan's exclusivity to the event, he is set to fight on May 2 in Times Square, disregarding his contractual obligations."

Guadalupe Valencia, who is Garcia's attorney, told Coppinger Friday that "this suit has no merit whatsoever. We will respond vigorously when the time is appropriate."

A Golden Boy Promotions spokeswoman declined comment to Coppinger.

Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 Fight Date, Venue Set for Netflix by Jake Paul's MVP

Katie Taylor v Amanda Serrano 2

One of the greatest women's boxing rivalries of all time will have its third installment this summer.

Per ESPN's Andreas Hale, a trilogy fight between undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano has been scheduled for July 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The fight will headline an all-women's fight card promoted by Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions and will be streamed live on Netflix.

Taylor and Serrano met for the first time in April 2022 in the first women's boxing match ever to headline a fight card at MSG. The two of them put on an epic performance that saw Taylor retain her title by a close split decision.

Two years later, Taylor and Serrano met for a rematch that surpassed their first encounter. The fight served as the co-main event for Paul's match against legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson this past November on Netflix. Taylor and Serrano's match garnered an average of 74 million viewers globally and became the most-watched women's sporting event in U.S. history. Despite another close fight, Taylor was ruled victorious once again by a controversial unanimous decision.

Despite Taylor owning a 2-0 record over Serrano, it's clear that they create magic each time they step into the ring together, so the trilogy fight was a no-brainer.

"I'm 2-0 against Amanda but it's obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring, so I think it's only right that we have the trilogy," Taylor said in a press release. "The atmosphere for the first fight there was amazing and I'm sure it won't be any different this time around."

Serrano also expressed excitement over the fight but criticized Taylor for not agreeing to 12 three-minute rounds and settling for the women's standard of 10 two-minute rounds for their summer matchup.

"I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I’m incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began — at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix for the world to see," she said. "I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, equal to the men. This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honor the handshake deal we made. She didn’t. But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know Friday, July 11, will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve."

The all-women's undercard will be announced at a later date, but fans can already get excited over the prospect of watching Taylor and Serrano battle it out once again.

On Wednesday, Max unveiled the trailer for Paul American, which will premiere on March 27:

The reality show will feature the Pauls' extended family, including their mother Pam, their father Greg, Logan's fiancee Nina Agdal and Jake's girlfriend Jutta Leerdam.

The trailer for the show teased moments of tension between the Paul brothers and their family members. The birth of Logan and Agdal's daughter will also be featured in the show, as it was said that her arrival "opened up a gentle side of the Pauls."

Of course, the brothers' endeavors in combat sports will be a significant part of the show. UFC 309: Jones v Miocic - Press Conference

UFC President Dana White and Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh jointly announced the creation of a new boxing promotion Wednesday.

According to Ring Magazine, Alalshikh signed a multi-year partnership with TKO, which is the umbrella company under which both UFC and WWE exist:

The new boxing promotion is set to be headed by both White and WWE President Nick Khan.

White suggested that the boxing league will be structured similarly to UFC, as he said, "The model is proven to deliver the fights that the fans want to see. The best will fight the best and the fighters will continue to move up the rankings and become world champions."

Per Ring Magazine, boxers who sign with the promotion will have access to the UFC Performance Institute, and athlete combines will be held to identify and sign new talent.

Both UFC and WWE have a long and storied history of success in the worlds of combat sports and sports entertainment, and they have officially been merged into one company since September 2023.

The boxing league also has the benefit of Alalshikh's presence, as he brings plenty of expertise in boxing promotion to the table.

Back in May, Alalshikh told ESPN's Mike Coppinger he had plans in place to fix the "broken" sport of boxing.

Alalshikh, who has massive financial backing from Saudi Arabia, has put together several major boxing events over the past few years, including the clash between Tyson Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

He also signed Canelo Álvarez, one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, to a four-fight deal last month in conjunction with Riyadh Season.

Details regarding the new boxing promotion remain limited, but White said Wednesday that more announcements will be made in the coming months regarding the roster of boxers and broadcast partners.

The BRIT Awards 2025 - Arrivals

KSI and Dillon Danis' pre-fight press conference for their March 29 Misfits Boxing match on Tuesday ended with some fireworks.

KSI and Danis engaged in a tense face-off after the press conference, and after exchanging words, KSI slapped Danis in the face before the two of them were separated by security:

Live-stream hosts Olivia Buzaglo and Dan Hardy were surprised that the two of them were allowed to get so close to one another during the face-off, but no one was surprised that KSI and Danis came to blows.

Like most who partake in the era of influencer boxing, both fighters are known more for their antics outside of the ring.

It can be expected that KSI and Danis will continue to have a contentious build-up until they meet in Manchester on March 29.

Gervonta Davis Knockdown Ruling Being Reviewed by NYSAC after Lamont Roach Draw

Gervonta Davis v Lamont Roach

Following the controversial draw between WBA lightweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Lamont Roach on Saturday night, the New York State Athletic Commision said in a statement to ESPN's Mike Coppinger that it is "reviewing the matter."

Davis took a knee in the ninth round after getting hit in the face with a jab. However, referee Steve Willis didn't rule it a knockdown despite initially starting his 10-count.

If Willis had ruled Davis' questionable move as a knockdown, Roach would've won the fight via decision. Instead, the fight was ruled a majority draw, with two judges scoring it 114-114 and the other scoring it 115-113 for Davis.

"During the round in question, following the commission's request for the replay video, there was a technical issue preventing the commission from receiving it within the allotted time for review," a commission spokeswoman stated. "Therefore, the referee's in-ring decision was relied upon and the fight continued.

"The commission is dedicated to preserving the integrity of combative sports and is committed to working with all promotions and production teams -- on behalf of the athletes, officials, and fans -- to ensure technical issues do not occur in the future that prevent the delivery of ringside instant replay feeds to the commission's officials when needed."

Davis said after the fight that he took a knee because grease had gotten into his eye from his hair.

"I just got my hair done two days ago and she put grease in my hair," Davis said. "When I was sweating and things like that, it burned my eyes."

The bout agreement between Davis and Roach included a rematch clause if Davis lost, but Davis said he's open to giving Roach another shot at his title.

"Lamont is a great fighter," Davis said after the fight. "He got the skills, like I said before, he got punching power. It was a lesson. Hopefully, we can run it back."

Roach certainly would welcome the opportunity to meet Davis in the ring again.

"If you take a knee and the ref starts counting, it should be a knockdown," Roach said following the bout. "If that's a knockdown, I win the fight."
