La Salle v North Carolina

North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick and rapper Lil Wayne took a picture together at the Tar Heels' spring practice on Saturday.

Belichick also presented Wayne with a custom No. 17 North Carolina jersey.

Following his legendary tenure with the New England Patriots from 2000 through 2023 in which he won six Super Bowls, Belichick agreed to join the Tar Heels in Dec. 2024.

After the 72-year-old was named North Carolina's next head coach, the rapper congratulated him on social media and defended him from criticism.

The Tar Heels will be looking to bounce back in Belichick's first year, as they're coming off a 2024 season in which they finished with a 6-7 record. They haven't won a bowl game since the 2019 season and haven't recorded a double-digit win total since 2015.

North Carolina is set to open its 2025 campaign against TCU on Sept. 1.

Deion Sanders Jr. Explains Viral Video of Prime, NFL Draft Scout at Colorado's Pro Day

Big 12 Football Pro Day

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders turned heads during the school's pro day on Friday by getting into a verbal altercation with an NFL draft scout, but his son provided more context to the situation.

Michael Gallagher of Athlon Sports noted Saturday that video of the altercation emerged on TikTok on Friday from the "apparent miscommunication about where to line up to start a drill" after Sanders was upset with something the scout said to one of the Buffaloes players.

"He was talking about u can't use the white line but u can … u can take up all the white line as u want," Deion Sanders Jr. commented in a reply to the TikTok video.

Gallagher noted the head coach said, "Y'all start how y'all want to start. [Expletive] this man here. Do y'all thing. Do what you all do."

That it was Deion Sanders Jr. who provided clarification to the entire ordeal on social media comes as no surprise, as he creates and presents social media content for the Buffaloes football team. His videos and content have provided fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the Colorado program during his father's two-plus seasons as the head coach.

Colorado's pro day was one of the most anticipated ones in the country leading up to this month's NFL draft.

After all, one of Sanders' other sons, Shedeur Sanders, is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken, while Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter also figures to be among the first players to hear their name called on draft day.

B/R's NFL Scouting Department projected Hunter to go No. 3 overall to the New York Giants and Sanders to go No. 9 overall to the New Orleans Saints in its most recent mock draft. Only Miami's Cam Ward was higher from the quarterback position, and he was projected to go No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans.

Hunter and Sanders worked together during the pro day, as the playmaker ran routes for the quarterback and impressed with some of his moves in the open field.

As for Sanders, he showed off his arm with the deep ball:

The two draft prospects are a major reason the Buffaloes improved from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 in 2024, but it will be up to Deion Sanders to continue turning things around for the program even after his star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner are gone to the NFL.

Syracuse HC Says Scrimmage with Deion Sanders' Colorado 'Would've Saved the Game'

Syracuse v Washington State - DirecTV Holiday Bowl

The NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision oversight committee rejected a waiver from Syracuse and Colorado to hold joint practices and a spring scrimmage.

On Wednesday, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown spoke about the matter with Andrew Sicilano, who was filling in on The Rich Eisen Show.

Brown clearly feels strongly about that spring game, to the point where he felt it would have "saved" the game of football (36-second mark).

"Yeah, I thought it makes sense on a lot of levels right, just for saving the game of football, just for right after this March Madness is done, like what are we doing right during that time? You can have something else to lead up into that or to get you going right for March Madness…" Brown said in part.

He then later added: "I just feel as though it would have saved the game. Just imagine Syracuse historically who this program is and Colorado getting to go against each other and getting to go out and then being able to compete against each other. I mean I just think the market, the money that we would have been able to make, just both schools, what you can do. Everyone's always complaining about NIL and the different pieces, maybe you can take this spring ball and say everything that you guys make, you're allowed to take and put into the NIL so then we don't got to worry about all the stuff like that, it helps. I just think there's a lot of things that we could do and we would have been able to help out with it."

Brown then said that players were going to do schoolwork in study halls and also take classes on financial literacy as well, a topic that the coach cares deeply about.

As noted by ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision oversight committee opposed the waiver request last Thursday. The idea to have joint practices and scrimmages originated from Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, and Brown was eager to have his team take part.

However, the idea will not come to fruition, in 2025, at least. Rittenberg provided the reasoning.

"The FBS oversight committee cited three factors in opposing the waiver: the late timing, as most teams have planned out spring practice and, in some cases, concluded their sessions; a recruiting advantage Colorado and Syracuse would receive when other teams couldn't hold a similar scrimmage this spring; and the potential academic impact for athletes missing classes to participate in the practices and a scrimmage."

The committee did state in its report that it would talk about "a concept that could permit joint spring practices in future seasons." However, in 2025, it will not happen.

So for this season, Syracuse's spring game will still occur on April 12. Colorado's will happen on April 19.

Bill Belichick Introduces Patriots Legend David Andrews to UNC CFB Team in Video

Bill Belichick recently introduced former New England Patriots center David Andrews as someone his UNC football players can aspire to emulate.

"It didn't happen in one day. It didn't happen in one year," Belichick told his players about Andrews' path from undrafted player to two-time Super Bowl champion.

Belichick continued: "It was day, after day, after day, after week, after week, after month, after month, after year, after year, stacking those together."

Belichick, who signed a five-year deal with UNC in January, is preparing to coach his first college football season this September.

When speaking with Belichick's team, Andrews told players to take advantage of their opportunities, including speaking with UNC donors and working with experienced coaches.

Andrews continued: "Understand that everything you're doing... squatting, running, I could have gotten into the Super Bowl with the Falcons, where we were in so much better shape.

"I could tell you a lot of stories about things that we did, that I didn't know why we were doing them, but it was for a f--king reason."

Andrews also gave his perspective on fighting for roster spots both at the college and NFL levels.

"You might be a second guy on the roster, that first guy gets hurt— I know that we're all buddies, and we're all that, but you should go, you want to take this job. You've got this opportunity," Andrews said.

He continued: "And especially at the NFL, it's cut-throat like that. You've got to take someone's job. You've got to take food off their family's plate to put it on yours. And that's just part of being in the business."

Ad Placeholder

Belichick said when first pitching himself as a college football coach in a December appearance on the Pat McAfee Show that his goal would be to create "a pipeline to the NFL for the players that had the ability to play in the NFL."

"I feel very confident that I have the contacts in the National Football League to pave the way for those players that would have the ability to have the opportunity to compete in the National Football League," Belichick said at the time.

In addition to allowing Belichick to hire a coaching staff full of NFL experience, those connections apparently mean connecting the Tar Heels with former players like Andrews.

Andrew Luck Says Frank Reich is 'Perfect Steward' for Stanford CFB in Interim HC Role

Wild Card Round - Houston Texans v Indianapolis Colts

Andrew Luck believes his alma mater, Stanford, has the "perfect" football coach to lead the program through an uncertain transition period in 2025.

The former Indianapolis Colts quarterback said Frank Reich is the "perfect steward" for the Cardinal in 2025 after his former NFL coach agreed to be the interim for the ACC program during the upcoming season, per Christopher Kamrani of The Athletic.

Luck is now the general manager for Stanford's football program and turned to Reich after former Cardinal head coach Troy Taylor was fired following a report about third-party investigations into his "inappropriate behavior toward female staffers," per Kamrani.

"It was time for a reset at the head coaching position," Luck said while also making it clear the plan is to hire a full-time head coach after the upcoming season. "And while perhaps the timing is nontraditional, it was the right time for this program and for us."

Kamrani noted that Luck is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to recruiting and fundraising during the name, image and likeness era of college football, which means Reich will only be responsible for coaching in his interim role.

Reich coached Luck in 2018 for the Colts before the four-time Pro Bowler decided to retire after just seven years in the NFL.

He remained as the head coach in Indianapolis until he was fired during the 2022 season and then coached the Carolina Panthers until he was fired after 11 games during the 2023 campaign.

Luck and Reich helped lead the Colts to the playoffs during the 2018 campaign and will look to team up to help turn things around for Stanford in 2025. The Cardinal have gone 3-9 in each of the last four seasons.

Whether Luck can help restore the program it was at when he was under center remains to be seen, but he believes he made the right call to bring Reich aboard for at least one year.

Tennessee v Ohio State - Playoff First Round

Chris Henry Jr., a 5-star wide receiver recruit for the class of 2026, has re-affirmed his commitment to Ohio State, per comments to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Henry previously committed to Ohio State in July 2023 but kept his options open. Per Todd M. Adams of USA Today, Henry had official visits lined up for Miami, USC and Oregon from May 30-June 13.

However, Henry has chosen to remain a Buckeye.

The 6'5", 205-pound Henry, the son of late Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, plays for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.

The latest 247Sports Composite list has Henry listed as the No. 9 overall prospect in the class of 2026 and No. 2 wideout.

Greg Biggins, the 247Sports' national recruiting analyst, provided this scouting report on March 10.

"Henry missed most of his junior season with a knee injury. When healthy, he’s a an elite prospect with as much upside as any receiver in the class. At close to 6-6 and 195 pounds, Henry has tremendous length and flashes surprisingly agility and lateral quickness for a player his size.

"He’s explosive out of the gate, can stop and start on a dime, change direction and has a huge catch radius. He has the long speed to stretch the field and hit the home run combined with the size and sure handedness to be a go to guy on key third down situations. He’s dominant in the air on jump balls and as he continues fills out and gains strength, his game will take off to another level."

Henry's firm commitment to Ohio State is great news for the defending national champions, who rank seventh overall on 247Sports' class of 2026 list. Henry is one of two 5-star prospects alongside safety Blaine Bradford.

Appalachian State v Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina has devised a novel way to attract fans to Brooks Stadium for the 2025 college football season.

The school announced Monday it will provide hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks free to fans. Alcohol and other premium concessions will continue to be available only for purchase.

"Our fans are the heartbeat of Teal Nation, and we're always looking for ways to elevate their game day experience," athletic director Chance Miller said. "With the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal, we're excited to offer free concessions this fall as a way to say thank you for the energy, passion and support they bring to Brooks Stadium every game."

ESPN's Michele Steele noted no other FBS program will hand out complimentary concessions. She added that schools with average attendances close to that of Coastal Carolina can collect around $250,000 per game through food and drink sales.

Thankfully, this was revealed on March 31. If the Chanticleers had waited until Tuesday, some fans might've wondered whether it was part of an elaborate April Fool's Day joke.

Coastal Carolina didn't have a lot of trouble drawing at Brooks Stadium in 2024. While it only ranked 111th in average attendance (17,128), that was 85.64 percent of the venue's total capacity (20,000). Free concessions are bound to boost the attendance figures a bit.

The team's 2025 home opener is Sept. 6 against Charleston Southern.

Don't worry about bringing your wallet to Coastal Carolina football games during the 2025 season.

On Monday, Coastal Carolina announced it will feature free concessions at Brooks Stadium during the upcoming campaign as part of the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal.

"Our fans are the heartbeat of Teal Nation, and we're always looking for ways to elevate their game day experience," vice president for intercollegiate athletics Chance Miller said. "With the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal, we're excited to offer free concessions this fall as a way to say thank you for the energy, passion and support they bring to Brooks Stadium every game."

While specialty items such as alcoholic beverages and food from outside vendors will still cost money, fans will be permitted to acquire four free items per trip to the concession stand from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks.

Fans also won't be limited to a certain number of concession stand visits, although they will be required to scan their trips through the Coastal Carolina Athletics App that has not yet been released.

A number of professional sports teams have been offering cheaper concessions of late, but free is quite the enticing step for fans. It will surely drive up attendance as the Chanticleers look to make a sixth consecutive bowl game.

They start the season on Aug. 30 at Virginia, and their home opener will be Sept. 6 against Charleston Southern.

Circle the date, Coastal Carolina fans. Because you'll be eating for free.
