What They’re Saying

With a win-or-go-home stipulation added to the tag tournament, former ECW world champion and Ring of Honor star Steve Corino is ready for the biggest weekend of his life:

Most important week of my career. #WinOrGoHome Saturday for @ringofhonor in Chicago, IL and then Mexico Sunday for IWL vs. El Canek!

— Steve Corino (@SteveCorino) September 11, 2012

It is still unclear what match he will sit in on—Steen vs. Rhino—but WWE and TNA star Matt Hardy will be in attendance to eye up his future opponent:

I WILL be at @ringofhonor's PPV, I'll be doing a signing & have FULL access to the locker room & talent. Extremely interested in 1 match..

— Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) September 10, 2012

Ring Rust Radio shares the feeling among many indy wrestling fans that this show could be one of Ring of Honor’s best over the last two years:

@ringofhonor's Death Before Dishonor iPPV will be great! Steen vs Rhino in the main event, the tag tournament, Matt Hardy & more???? #EPIC

Main-Event Preview and Prediction

ROH World Champion Kevin Steen vs. "The Man Beast" Rhino

If you haven’t been watching Ring of Honor lately, you have been missing one of the best wrestling stars in the business running roughshod through the competition.

His name is Kevin Steen, and he is Ring of Honor's world heavyweight champion.

ROH is a breeding ground for the best in the world, and Steen is following in the footsteps of the great champions like CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson that came before him. Now he is paving his own way, but a wrestling legend named Rhino stands in his way.

In what should be an excellent litmus test for how great the ROH champ really is, the in-ring war between Rhino and Steen will be amazing. If these two put on the kind of show everyone knows they can, this could be the defining moment in Steen’s current title run.

Prediction: Kevin Steen retains.

Undercard Match to Watch

Tag Team Title Tournament

While tournaments in wrestling are a staple, the idea of a tag team tournament with the stipulation that the losers go home without a job is intense. With so much on the line, each man will not only be fighting for a shot at the gold, he will be fighting for his livelihood.

The teams are S.C.U.M. (Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino), Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman, Rhett Titus and Charlie Haas and the Briscoe Brothers.

As much as this looks like an easy win for the greatest tag team of the last decade—The Briscoe Brothers—there is a surprise team that could steal the whole show: S.C.U.M.

With Kevin Steen as the world champion, what better way to get over his heel stable than by allowing Corino and Jacobs to steal the titles in the final match against the Briscoe Brothers?

Not only would it prove S.C.U.M.’s talent, it would start a tag feud that would restore the division to prominence.

Prediction: Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs win gold.

There are so many ways the company can go right now; with tag champions yet to be named, a young Adam Cole as TV Champion and Kevin Steen as World Champion, not paying attention to ROH right now would be foolish.

Add special guests like Sara Del Rey and Eddie Kingston, and this is every Indy Wrestling fan’s dream!

What They’re Saying

Ring of Honor’s Mike Mondo took to twitter to tell everyone he is ready for one of the biggest matches on the card and how they can find out more about it:

Focused! Prepared mentally & physically! ROH IPPV "Boiling Point" this Saturday 8/11. Go to rohwrestling.com for details on how 2 order!

— Mike Mondo (@MikeMondo83) August 8, 2012

While Mondo took time to sell the show, Chikara champion and ROH alumnus Eddie Kingston made his point to current champion Kevin Steen very clear:

#DIESTEENDIE

— Eddie Kingston (@ChikaraKingston) August 6, 2012

Despite not being ROH’s deepest card of the year, Ring Rust Radio knows that this card will still be better than 75 percent of the wrestling we’ll get in 2012:

With stars like @adamcolepro, @rohmichaelelgin, & @thesaradelrey on the same @ringofhonor #BoilingPoint card, the show is bound to be great!

— RingRustRadio (@RingRustRadio) August 8, 2012

Main-Event Preview and Prediction

ROH World Champion Kevin Steen vs. Chikara Grand Champion Eddie Kingston

While many fans haven’t fallen in love with this main event, any true wrestling aficionado loves what Kevin Steen is for Ring of Honor; he is their new CM Punk.

Add in his stable of minions (S.C.U.M. featuring Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs) and Kevin Steen has a gimmick and the power to make a serious impact on wrestling.

Standing in his way at Boiling Point, though, is Chikara Grand Champion Eddie Kingston.

Kingston was a former ROH star, but was barred from the company. Since leaving the company, the champion has found great success with awesome Indy promotion Chikara.

While Steen will not be dropping the title to a man from another company, the working relationship with Chikara is something to think about. We’ll just have to tune in to find out.

Prediction: Kevin Steen retains

Undercard Match to Watch

Jay Lethal vs. "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa w/ RD Evans

While the majority of casual fans will remember Jay Lethal as the guy who did a Macho Man gimmick in TNA, he has built quite the reputation and career in Ring of Honor. Between his great mic work and in-ring prowess, Lethal is a huge asset for ROH.

On the other hand, Tommaso Ciampa is a younger star that is really just starting to make his mark on the business. With a great in-ring attitude and demeanor, The Sicilian Psychopath is one of the most interesting men in the business.

When you put these two together—as we have seen now throughout their extended feud—these men make magic. With the classic 2-out-of-3 falls format, this will be the show-stealer of Boiling Point.

Prediction: Tommaso Ciampa goes over
