Simone Biles celebrated becoming the first Olympic gymnast in United States history to win six gold medals with some fitting jewelry for the Greatest of All Time.
The nine-time Olympic medalist showed off a GOAT necklace Thursday after claiming gold in the individual women's all-around in Paris.
Biles won Thursday's all-around after totaling 59.131 points, 1.199 more than silver medalist and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrane. She also won gold in the same event at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The victory came days after Biles helped lead the Americans to another gold medal in the team competition despite competing with tape on her calf after suffering an injury in qualifiers.
Biles, 27, is the oldest gymnast to win the all-around since 1952. She is also the first Olympic gymnast to win multiple titles since 1968, and the first ever to claim gold in the event at non-consecutive competitions.
With nine total medals, including gold in the team, all-around, vault, and floor competitions at the 2016 Rio Games as well as silver and bronze medals from Tokyo 2020, Biles is the most decorated men's or women's gymnast ever to represent the United States in Olympic competition.
Given that Biles has a record 23 gold medals in world competition and five gymnastics skills named after her, it makes sense that she decided to add a GOAT necklace to her stack of Olympic medals.

For the sixth Olympics in a row, USA Gymnastics has claimed gold in the women's individual all-around.
Simone Biles, who won gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, earned her second gold in the event, while reigning champion Suni Lee claimed bronze to earn praise from athletes and coaches across the United States.
The individual all-around marked the second podium appearance of the week for both Biles and Lee, who helped lead Team USA to gold during Monday's team final.
s/o Simone and Suni, I’m in awe watching what they do
Owens wasn't the only athlete in the crowd to see Team USA dominate the podium.
Steph Curry and other members of the USA Basketball men's team, including Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday and Tyrese Haliburton, were also present at Bercy Arena to watch the competition.

Both gymnasts overcame significant obstacles in order to return to the Olympic podium.
Biles' Thursday win marked her first individual medal since withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, while Lee has been diagnosed with multiple kidney diseases she has said made it difficult to practice.

Suni Lee battled three different types of kidney disease just to get to these Olympics. And she can now call herself a two-time Olympic all-around medalist. We don't know what kind yet but what an incredible display of courage and humility.
After years of battling with her health, many doubts, multiple adversities and not competing internationally since Tokyo 2020… the reigning Olympic Champ Suni Lee will see a return to the All Around podium!
Team USA has now claimed six straight all-around golds in individual competition, dating back to Carly Patterson's win in 2004.
Nastia Liukin won in 2008, and Gabby Douglas claimed gold in 2012, before Biles won her first gold in 2016.
The Americans faced one of the toughest fields yet in 2024 with Brazil's Rebeca Andrade challenging for gold and D'Amato coming within two tenths of a point from knocking Lee from the podium.
Both finished with electric floor routines to secure their places on the podium and continue Team USA's all-around dominance.

Simone Biles claimed her second individual all-around Olympic gold medal Thursday at the 2024 Paris Games.
Biles outscored a stacked field including Brazilian vault star Rebeca Andrade and teammate Suni Lee thanks to a score of 15.066 on the floor exercise.

Biles then scored 13.733 on the uneven bars, falling out of the top three after the second rotation following a deduction for bending her knees on the transition from upper to lower bar.
Biles then shone during the floor routine to secure the win.
Andrade earned silver, while Lee claimed bronze after a strong floor routine.
Biles is the first woman to win multiple individual all-around finals since Věra Čáslavská won a second title in 1968. She is also the first to achieve the feat eight years apart.
The win marks Biles' first individual gold since the 2016 Rio Games, and the comeback further establishes her position as the most decorated American gymnast of all time. Her nine total medals beat out Shannon Miller's seven for the most in U.S. Olympic gymnastics history.

Lee and Biles are each competing for their second gold medal of the 2024 Olympics. Both gymnasts helped USA claim gold Monday in the team all-around final.
Lee entered the competition as the reigning champion, while Biles won gold in the event during the 2016 Rio Games.
Both have the opportunity to become the first women gymnasts to win back-to-back gold in the individual all-around since 1968.
The chance to see Olympic history brought a star-studded crowd to watch the event at Bercy Arena.
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, as well as celebrities Bob Costas, Seth Rogen, Kendall Jenner and Martha Stewart, were also in attendance for the final, according to the NBC broadcast.

This isn't the first time Lee and Biles have had a high-profile audience watching them compete in Paris. Tennis icon Serena Williams, swimming legend Michael Phelps and Olympian Nadia Comăneci were in the crowd watching Team USA claim gold in the team final earlier this week.
The men's basketball team, meanwhile, is in the middle of a two-day lull in competition. After earning wins against Serbia and South Sudan, USA Basketball will take on Puerto Rico on Saturday in its final group-stage game having already qualified for the knockout round.
Before that, however, Curry and his teammates will be watching Biles and Lee as the gymnasts look to add to the United States' medal count against a strong field of competitors including Brazil's Rebeca Andrade on Thursday in Paris.

Shinnosuke Oka of Japan took home the gold medal in the men's gymnastics individual all-around final at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Oka won with a score of 86.832, edging out the rest of the field where the top four competitors were separated by less than a single point.
The final rotation featured some late drama, as all five competitors on the horizontal bar were ranked in the top six entering their last event.
Oka's 14.500 on the horizontal bar was enough to hold off gold-medal favorite Zhang Boheng of China, whose 14.633 earned him the silver medal.
Wow man Shinnosuke Oka absolutely takes the Mens Individual All Around final for Japan 🇯🇵. A stellar performance gives Japan 4 straight men’s individual All-Around title. He’s only 20 btw & kept the tradition going #OlympicGames#Paris2024
Zhang had a fall during the floor exercise during the first rotation that got his day off to a rough start. However, he bounced back with strong showings on each subsequent event, including a 15.300 on the parallel bars.
I know this is Shinnosuke's moment, but I need to talk about Zhang Boheng. He is the best gymnast in the World, he gave his absolute all for his team 2 days ago. To come such a close 2nd with a fall just shows how incredible he is. He fought til the end and should be so proud.
Great Britain's Jake Jarman led after the first rotation with a 14.900 in the floor exercise. Oka took over the top spot after the second rotation and remained in the running for the gold from that point. His floor exercise earned a 14.566 and drew rave reviews, and he notched a 14.300 on the vault.
Shinnosuke Oka with a fantastic FX. Stuck most of his landings as well and has amazing form.

Ukraine's Illia Kovtun notched a 15.400 on the parallel bars, the highest score of the day in any event, and he was in position for a medal after a 14.700 on the floor exercise. Unfortunately, China's Xiao Ruoteng did enough on the horizontal bar to edge him off the podium. It's the first time that China has placed two gymnasts on the podium in the men's all-around.
USA's Frederick Richard started with a disappointing showing on the pommel horse that included a step-off and a fall. His score of 12.733 had him second-to-last after the first rotation. He fought back to finish 15th with an overall score of 82.166. His teammate Paul Juda had a more consistent day but still finished just ahead of him at 14th with a score of 82.197.

Japan's Daiki Hashimoto, the gold medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, also had a tough start on the pommel horse and placed sixth with a score of 84.598.
Simone Biles Calls Out Critics After USA Gymnastics Wins Gold Medal at 2024 Olympics

Simone Biles led the U.S. women's gymnastics team to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, and quickly had a bit of shade for all the haters.
"Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸," she wrote on Instagram.
"Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️"
Simone Biles sends a message to the haters after Team USA took home the gold medal in gymnastics 🥇
That appeared to be in response to former U.S. gymnast MyKayla Skinner, who was critical of Biles' teammates during a YouTube stream earlier in July.
"Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn't what it used to be," she said at the time. "I mean, obviously, a lot of girls just don't work as hard. The girls just don't have the work ethic. It's hard too because of SafeSport. Coaches can't get on athletes and they have to be really careful what they say, which in some ways is really good, but at the same time, to get to where you need to be in gymnastics you do have to be a little aggressive, a little intense."
Skinner—who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Games in vault as Biles' replacement—since deleted the video and apologized on Instagram. But Biles didn't forget.

A new entry can be added to the long list of iconic nicknames for the USA Olympics gymnastics team.
After helping lead Team USA to a gold medal in Tuesday's team final at the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles revealed that this year's team has been dubbed "F Around And Find Out."
Aly Raisman asks Simone Biles and the team what their nickname is.
Team USA finished with an overall score of 171.296, blowing past Italy (165.494) and Brazil (164.497). It was their third gold medal in their last four trips to the Summer Games, avenging a silver-medal finish in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Biles was joined on the team by Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera. It's her eighth career Olympic gold medal, making her the most decorated gymnast in Team USA history. She owns five golds, one silver and two bronzes.
The win was especially meaningful for Biles after she was forced to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics due to a need to address her mental health amid a case of the "twisties." She also overcame an apparent calf injury that bothered her during the qualifying rounds to return to the top.
Biles helped seal the victory for Team USA with a 14.666 in the floor exercise, an event that she has famously dominated. After her routine, she triumphantly raised the No. 1 in the air before celebrating with her teammates.
Biles will look to add more hardware to her mantle when she competes in the women's individual all-around final on Thursday.

The United States cruised to a gold medal in the gymnastics women's team final on Tuesday in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Sunisa Lee combined to earn a 171.296 overall score, putting Team USA well ahead of runner-up Italy.
Biles became the most decorated American gymnast in history. She now has five goals along with one silver and two bronzes.

Silver: Italy, 165.494
Bronze: Brazil, 164.497
In the first of four rotations, the United States opened with the vault. Biles' 14.900 was the team's highest score, and the trio of she Carey and Chiles set the tone for the rest of the competition.

The U.S. continued rolling on the balance beam in the third rotation, which saw Biles, Lee and Chiles pad the Americans' overall tally.
The floor exercise was the final rotation for Team USA. A gold medal was all but academic because the floor is collectively the strongest of the four programs for the United States, and its three representatives lived up to the hype.
Lee and Chiles posted scores of 13.533 and 13.966 before Biles brought things to a close. The 27-year-old was her typically brilliant self to add the finishing touches on the win.
Team USA had the highest individual score in each discipline, delivering a dominant performance from start to finish. To provide some more context with the 5.802-point gap between the United States and Italy, the Italians were 6.031 points ahead of Japan, who finished last in the final.
This is just the fourth gold medal for the United States in Paris, though its 22 overall medals lead the way.
Plenty of gold remains up for grabs in artistic gymnastics. The men's all-around final will be decided Wednesday with the women's all-around final to follow Thursday.
Biles' calf injury figures to be an ongoing storyline, though it didn't appear to limit her much Tuesday. She has entered into the all-around final and qualified for three of the four individual competitions, but whether she's 100 percent for those events may be a different story.
Simone Biles Will Compete in 2024 Olympic Gymnastics Team Finals Despite Calf Injury

Simone Biles will be a participant in all four events—uneven bars, vault, floor exercise and balance beam—during Tuesday's team final in women's gymnastics despite dealing with a calf injury, according to the Associated Press.
The superstar gymnast tweaked her calf during the qualifying round on Sunday, though U.S. coach Cecile Landi described it as minor at the time and said Biles had been dealing with it for a few weeks.
Biles, 27, is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time medalist overall. She completely dominated the 2016 Games, winning gold in the team and all-around competitions along with the vault and floor exercise, but a bout with the "twisties" at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics led to a more subdued performance.
When Biles was seen with tape on her left leg and with a limp in Paris, there was concern that another issue might keep the world's most talented gymnast from performing up to her potential for a second straight Olympics.
But Biles' calf injury doesn't appear likely to limit her.
"We told her to remind herself, like she's capable of doing it," U.S. coach Cecile Landi told reporters on Sunday following the qualifying round. "She knows she's got it and it's OK and then she did. So, really excited for her."
Biles posted the highest scores on both floor and vault, a good sign for both her and the United States heading into Tuesday's team competition and Thursday's all-around.
If Biles is healthy, she'll be the favorite to claim her second all-around gold. The United States has the two defending gold medal winners on their team—Sunisa Lee is the other—making them a force to be reckoned with in the team competition.
The United States qualified Sunday with the top score of 172.296, nearly five points clear of second-place Italy. They are the prohibitive favorites to win the team competition, and Biles remains a huge reason why.

Simone Biles will have to battle through pain if she wants to return to the Olympic podium.

Biles has reportedly been dealing with the injury for a few weeks, with U.S coach Cecile Landi calling it minor and noting that it wasn't expected to sideline Biles during the Paris Games, which is obviously good news for Team USA.
Competing in the second subdivision, the United States locked itself into Tuesday's team final with an overall score of 172.296. That's more than five points ahead of second-place Italy with three subdivisions still remaining in qualification.
Below are the teams who qualified for the finals, with host country France out of contention after qualifying in 11th place.

United States: 172.296 points
Italy: 166.861 points
China: 166.628 points

Biles currently leads the all-around qualification despite walking with a noticeable limp throughout her routing after tweaking her calf. She spent several minutes being attended to by Team USA physicians after her opening beam routine before being able to return and complete her round.
EVERYONE’S in the house to see Simone Biles at the #ParisOlympics! 🔥
"Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise, American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Snoop Dogg were in the crowd to watch the American gymnast," according to BBC Culture's Brandon Livesay.
She had by far the best score of the day on the vault and floor exercise events and was second behind Zhou Yaqin of China in the balance beam. The 27-year-old had her weakest run in the uneven bars, sitting in just eighth place through two subdivisions.

The United States has the top three qualifiers overall in the all-around competition in the early going, Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles coming in right behind Biles.
Suni Lee finishes her #ParisOlympics debut with a stellar uneven bar routine. 🌟
Biles is attempting to likely cap off one of the most decorated careers for a gymnast in Olympic history. She burst onto the scene in 2016, winning gold in the floor exercise, vault, all-around and team competitions before struggling in the 2020 Summer Games with a case of the "twisties."
After battling through that mental hurdle, Biles is once again considered the greatest gymnast in the world at age 27—a time when most in the youth-laden sport have already retired.
